I would've loved if they had his son Christopher Awdry voice the Thin Clergyman in the CGI series. Simply because that would have been just perfect especially for the 75th anniversary.
I love the Thin Clergyman in the RWS, as he was very much Awdry's way of "yeah, if the Island of Sodor was a real place, me and Teddy Boston would definitely be frequent visitors to it, and we'd totally be involved in finding Duke too, lol."
10:03 I don't think that's what that moment was meant to symbolise. Personally I see it as Brenner showing how Mattel, symbolised by Ace here, acts towards Awdry's legacy. We see more hints at this with other scenes with Ace. Besides how he keeps breaking railway regulations and such, he is also portrayed as a bad influence on Thomas, whose arc in the movie is learning that Ace is no good, just like how Mattel is. I'm pretty sure this was Brenner's way of saying that.
I saw big world big adventures the movie when it came out in the UK with my Dad. my Dad said later on the way home that he thought that Nia was Thomas's girl friend. I really liked how she talked with AWDRY in the little engine show
I'm now making that my official interpretation of Ace's whole character arc, as I'd love to imagine it as being Brenner's way of giving his bosses at Mattel the finger before jumping ship, lol!
Let us be honest, the Reverend was basically doing self-inserts before any fanfic writer could even dream of inserting themselves as Sonic the hedgehog's wife
whats really meta, is the books are cannon in the books. So the books that are in the books ARE IN THE BOOKS, and this will just go on and on about these railway series books being in the railways series books, that are in the railway series, thats also in the railway series.
Okay I noticed 2 things: 1: Wilbert first appearance was with Percy in the railway series . And his last appearance was with Percy 2: in the last scene of the small railway show Percy is pulling a van. Coincidentally what he was pulling in Wilberts first appearance in the railway series (technically he was pulling 2 vans but whatever.
My goodness!! Wilbur Awdry was wonderful and always a great sport to allow himself to take part in the stories - and he was a very important part of the stories. But many forget that he was a Church of England ordained minister and priest. As was and is Christopher Awdry! His son. There's been many stories of the Thin Clergyman by the likes of WildNorWester, Victor Tanzig and some others. And the approach these - and some others - have put up have been reverential and just as appropriate. WildNorWester approach was to have Wilbur Awdry as a 12 year old and visiting Sodor with his Father, an ordained Priest who was keen on railways and leading to the first story of Edward's first outing from Edward's perspective. In 1923. Who told the story to Charlie Hatt, who was doing a documentary.. For Television. A very good way of doing so. And as example, the best of the lot. In certainly involving Prince William was a good touch as well. A lot of the memorabilia for all of this - was based in Towynn in Wales at The Tal'y'lin small railway in North Wales. I actually went there with my parents in the early 1970's - I'm no fan of railways but I do acknowledge the fact that the RWS Tales are one of the reasons why heritage railways continue to exist and in certain parts of the land - are highly popular and well visited. I actually went on a journey on a steam train at Windermere - a couple of years ago on a coaching holiday just after the worst of the restrictions on these, were lifted. After the pandemic was coming to an end! That was enjoyable! 🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃 Wilbur Awdry's passing away was always very saddening. And in many ways it was well noted as well. But his son Christopher - carried on the tradition of stories. Truly a family affair and a legacy left behind by the Awdrys that won't be quickly or rapidly forgotten.
Over here in the states we have similar people like Awdry such as Ross Rowland who created the American Freedom Train for the US bicentennial in 1976, Jerry Joe Jacobson who founded the Ohio Central Railroad and Age Of Steam Roundhouse in Sugarcreek Ohio and was an ex paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne and F Nelson Blount who created the Steamtown collection in Bellows Falls VT which is now at Scranton under the NPS
Basically Wilbert awdry and Teddy Boston were inspiration for the thin clergyman and the fat clergyman and there great characters too because the funniest part of tit for tat is when Bert wheeshed water weting the fat clergyman
This is a man of iron will for children's entertainment... 😭😊👍 Never thought I would learn that Wilbert Awdry would be fat-shaming one of his own friends in Duke's book and the Arelsdale Engine's book... 😂 5:15: The fat Clergyman summons a steamroller from H311 and other stories. 😈🔥⛪😅😂⛧ And that's how George was born. Wouldn't Wilbert also get his ideas for his stories from real events? I can't believe I would notice The Thin Clergyman being a witness to some of the more ridiculous future CGI episodes and movies... I wonder what he could be thinking about them as he watches at what is happening in own eyes... The part in The BWBA Movie when Ace zooms by The Thin Clergyman on his bike had me and Thomas1Edward2Henry3 laughing so hard because it feels like a way of saying F U to the adult audience... lol😂😅🖕 "The Great little railway show" was fine but I didn't like Percy because he was at his absolute worst in the same way as in "Panicky Percy". The little green boi just didn't have the best episodes in the BWBA era...

I would've loved if they had his son Christopher Awdry voice the Thin Clergyman in the CGI series.
Simply because that would have been just perfect especially for the 75th anniversary.
2:59 Is there a line from an episode where he actually says that or is that an edit?
I love the Thin Clergyman in the RWS, as he was very much Awdry's way of "yeah, if the Island of Sodor was a real place, me and Teddy Boston would definitely be frequent visitors to it, and we'd totally be involved in finding Duke too, lol."
Awdry calling Teddy Boston fat and making a fool out of him is actually really funny. Awdry and Boston must of had real banter with each.
British people do lots of banter, I believe, as I read. Not a British girl.
We do it a lot. British humour is quite unique.

Goddamn that is so insane it just might make sense
Father Ted references are just the best. People who know it love it (like myself), and it introduces other T&F fans to a great comedy series
Yesss! Father Ted is cracking brilliant!
Indeed
The meta humor in this video is just absurd and I like it so much
Great video buddy!
It's the Legend himself.
Wilbert, Awdry
True
Awdry: No
Let us be honest, the Reverend was basically doing self-inserts before any fanfic writer could even dream of inserting themselves as Sonic the hedgehog's wife
What can I say the man was ahead of his time
"Wilbert Awdry's inspiration for Wilbert Awdry was Wilbert Awdry."
-Thomas Theorist 2023
9:04 I know this video is about The Thin Clergyman, but is that Lord Callan in the back of the Crowd?
what mattel forgot is that the thin clergyman is a self insert of the inventor of thomas
whats really meta, is the books are cannon in the books. So the books that are in the books ARE IN THE BOOKS, and this will just go on and on about these railway series books being in the railways series books, that are in the railway series, thats also in the railway series.
I wonder what the Thin Clergyman in the Thin Clergyman's books looked like!
Like the Thin Clergyman?
Oh god we’re in an infinite loop o f books
Gotta love that Father Ted ending, ironically very fitting 😂
I'm still wondering what Wilbert & Percival were talking about in "The Great Race". Probably Percival was asking him to write about Luke's Story.
"So uh...you ever heard of an engine named Duke?"
@@hazyhope._."Yes but he only appeared in S4 and was never seen again but still had some toys of him until after Nitrogen."
I think Duke broke down and ended up being used for parts for the little engines, and they just don't talk about it out of respect
Probably arguing about his illustrator messing up again.
Okay I noticed 2 things:

11:19 they actually took the effort to replicate the Ffarquhar layout & I fucking love that
Rev W Audry is Stan Lee
in the great race I can't help thinking that he was trying to find out more story ideas for the RWS
8:56 I can never hear this line the same way again after this.
"Willy! Your load is slipping!"
- Rev. Wilbert Awdry 2017
Absolute gold, n love father Ted at the end!
How you know Wilbert and teddy are best friends, they take the piss out of each other for a laugh.

The original self-insert
wilbert and teddy has a toxic yet healthy friendship
By the way, do you think you could ask Ian McCue what the cancelled episode about Hugo in Season 21 was meant to be about please?
So ironic that the episode about awdrys models was made by the guy who makes replicas of awdrys models
Imagine a scene where Stepney is at a scrapyard with Arry and Bert
And then there Thomas in the background
Wow oh my God
The railway series theme is rev w awdrys theme
CHANGE MY MIND
12:28 Emily: ehem excuse me, that's my thing

You think Andrew Brenner should have thought of writing an episode about him in a main role or something.
Someone should make a fan made video with the engines meeting or speeking with the thin Clergyman
Basically Wilbert awdry and Teddy Boston were inspiration for the thin clergyman and the fat clergyman and there great characters too because the funniest part of tit for tat is when Bert wheeshed water weting the fat clergyman
1:49 how so?
Boston actually owned a narrow gauge saddle tank engine named Pixie a steam roller and a traction engine who's names I have trouble spelling
The Reverend Wilbert Awdry invented self inserting
Bro was always ahead of the curve
5:00 so there is one plus of being fat. you can find a lost engine by an accident
0:27 is this hitler?
💀
He is heself

Teddy Boston landed on his balls! I’ll bet Awdry laughed about this!
