    There's even a dedicated LED test slot. How cute!
    By the way, I sent an email of the minimeter, and I've secured an Aneng 683 already! It's good, but it's difficult to read under bright sunlight but not impossible.

      I wonder to where they are connected internally. I'm generally cautious with these gimmicks, because that's where stuff can start to arc when you measure a higher voltage with the normal leads.

    And the UNI-T week is on!
    3 stars is absolutely fair for this one. Not a bad meter, but in this price range it's nothing spectacular even compared to other UNI-Ts.

    Nice review. Uni-T can be a bit hit and miss. Do like the input protection on this meter though, looks like they put some good effort into that aspect. Pretty decent meter for an electrician rather than electronics in my opinion. Is the yellow LED on your test board working? There are a few meters I have seen that cannot light it, but light up the blue LED which usually needs a higher voltage.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  Рік тому

      No worries, the led on my test board works perfectly..it's definitely a very well built multimeter but it needs more ooomph at this price range.The display is a real letdown and just not good enough. 😐

    Not bad but like you said a bit too expensive. You rated it fairly at 3/5. It's going to be a decent meter but for the money you can do better. I got the 702s in and on the first week it came in handy was able to quickly determine I had some noise on a ground plane causing an issue. So nice to have a real scope probe rather than trying to use something like the mustool which uses regular meter probes that aren't as sensitive.

    Still lovin' my little UT191T - I agree on this one, solid as this meters build quality is it should be showing more for the price - a bit tighter accuracy and maybe a Fluke style touch hold instead of a cheesy onboard "value added" LED tester that imo belongs on much cheaper hobby grade meters - you dont see them on big money big name "Pro" meters hardly ever, the money is better spent elsewhere especially on a meter calling itself "Pro" in the model designation. Also that current shunt looked like it came out of a $25 el cheapo and this is definitely no el cheapo in price. I do like that they have went to AA batteries, theyre what all good meters should have these days, and one biggie here is I feel meters in this price range should be UL approved, it used to be the gold standard but its a pricey US standard to obtain and most meters are not made in the US any more so most off shore makers wont spend the money for it especially on their lower tier gear. I still like Uni-T though, they have come further in quality (and) functionality the last few years than many other offshore makes which proves they are listening to their customer base more than most and this line they came out with just a few years ago shows it, very nice engineering for the most part.

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  Рік тому +3

      So true Mike. Solidly engineered is definitely the best way to sum the UT18B PRO up! UNI-T has cone leaps and bounds these past years, a solid testament to their dedication to the test instrument genre. 👍

    Uni-T is obviously aiming at Fluke´s 15B+, 17B+ and 18B. But it is not reaching their precision and for sure not their reputation. Given: The inner construction is evolved over time. But without independent testing, certified by UL- Listing or TueV/GS- Marking pretty useless for "Pro´s". And this markings would be in this price-range pretty much expected. Aside of this: Uni-T still managed to deliver a crisp display again and to copy Fluke´s idea of a LED- Tester is a nice try. BTW: Is your LED testing PCB correct working? Strange behavior since several tests: If I remember correct erverytime only the yellow LED fails, no other one... - even if the blue and white LED´s light up. Very strange!

    • @KeepOnTesting
      @KeepOnTesting  Рік тому

      I've retested the led test board a few times and all is well..I'll run another diagnostic tonight just to make sure. Totally agree about the safety ratings..UNI-T really needs an improved safety certification. Otherwise you can slap PRO on the name 3x and it won't make a difference end of the day..

  • @Pro100Gadman
    @Pro100Gadman Рік тому

    OMFG.... Darren!!!!! Why are you so objective??!!!! Why didn't you say that this is a very good multimeter! ! ! After all, lovers of UNI-T - UNITophiles will be indignant and prove the opposite! ! !
    In fact, thank you very much for your honest review of this overpriced model from UNI-T. Of the good qualities here, one can single out a well-made tracing and input protection. But for the money, this multimeter should at least have better accuracy than conventional $25 multimeters. I'm not talking about the reaction speed ... At least it should have accuracy, but unfortunately this model does not have it.
    You are right. When you hold a UNI-T in your hands, you expect a little more from him, because you paid for these expectations. They have great models that cost a lot of money and there you can justify the investment in accuracy, reliability, tactile sensations. Unfortunately, this is not about this multimeter model. $100 is too much for him.

      @@KeepOnTesting Surely they're not hanging that price tag on the LED tester? You can build one yourself using 2 green LEDs and a resistor. If it displayed the forward drop, and maybe allowed you to test the LED at different current levels, it would be useful. Even then it wouldn't be worth the asking price. 6000 counts is for budget meters these days, should be at least 20,000 counts.
