Invité : Timothée Chalamet, pour «My Beautiful Boy »

It's actually scientifically proven that people who speak two or more languages may unconsciously change personalities as they switch the language and actually hearing the language itself is the trigger for the switch. If I recall, it was also proven or at least studied that multilingual people have a personality for each language they speak.

English is definetly more his "native" language, but he speaks both since is early childhood. I think the change in his voice is just because of how french pronunciation works, it's a much more "flowing" language with lots of connections between words and letters and a different way of how letters and syllables sound when put together.

lol I have no idea why but I found him slightly annoying. I live in France and can understand most French (I'm an English speaker though). I can't put my finger on why though. (Oh and hands down my French is nowhere near Timothées, I'm not bilingual)...I felt like he cut in too much. Like he assumed Timothée didn't know how to say something when he really did. There were a few times Timothée directly asked (like "sober" or "martyrdom" "warts") but for the rest it was like, be quiet dude, let him talk lol. It was almost like he was secretly feeling impatient listening to Timothée or something (that's the air he gave off). Maybe I'm projecting my own experiences on to this ;). It's also interesting to watch because Tim's French grammar and syntax etc seems perfect but he was somewhat limited when it came to vocabulary. Bilingualism is interesting. Also, Angoulême is like 30 minutes away from where I'm living haha

To be honest it is so weird to listen to people who grew up multilingually cause when they say a phrase in another language they also say it in a perfect accent and you be like how is this creature even possible.
    Edit:
It is so fascinating to see many of you in the comment section theorise me as an American and that I have never met a European nor an Asian in my life and should respect them more. I have decided to join this discussion not because I am offended but to remind you that by stating these stuffs you made a presupposed notion that frankly stereotypes Americans and perhaps generalised unfounded claims of English speakers that could offend others in that position. I am sadly, to all your dissappointment, am not an American, and if I was, nothing is wrong with that either. I have lived all around Asia and Europe and was lucky enough in my life to speak 5 languages. I'm saying this not to boast, as some people in the comment section feel absolutely inclined to do so, but to show that this comment was made simply out of pure awe and respect to all who have been blessed enough to receive the gift of understanding the world in more than 1 language. Also to those who are relentless in their pursuit to study another, because I know how hard it is to learn them. So please be mindful, spread love and not hate! ❤

It's actually quite difficult even for people who are multilingual to maintain the perfect intonation and accent of each language they know. Normally you'll find that they will have a dominant language that influences the accent of the other languages. The trick is to THINK in that language, don't think in your preferred language then try to translate that during the conversation - it will trip you up for sure. Another method is to observe each language as a different kind of music, they have different rhythms, tones and flows - mimic that and you'll sound like a native even if you just know a few words and phrases.

No hope, no dreams, no feelings. You're completely numb and yet at the same time in so much misery. You wake up every day wondering why you woke up at all. I have a little over a year clean now and I'm still trying to pick up all the broken pieces. They say "one day at a time" no!!! For me it's one minute at a time. To all those still struggling with addiction I can't tell you that you can do it. You can stop. You already know that but what I will say is when the pain gets great enough I hope you put the shovel down, don't keep digging till you get to 6 feet! Love to all those sober and not sober!!!

His real human expressions and emotions and love for life. I just hope the fakes that are in hollyowood and the evils do not taint his beautiful soul. I think you didn't understand what he meant (im french btw ) The interviewer asked him if anyone has told him that he was being arrogant and mean just bc he's famous and he said no i have no confidence but he didn't mean self-confidence he meant that he didn't change and became haughty bc of fame. I think he didn't choose the right translation so it was confusing but in french when you say "i have no confidence" ( in that context obviously) it can means that you're not arrogant ( im sorry for the mistakes im not english and if you have any question just ask) :))

Why does accent matter? If it doesn't interfere with comprehension. I don't expect a French tourist in England to speak with a London accent! When they say 'ouse' instead of 'house' I still understand it perfectly. It would seem strange for someone to speak in an affected accent.

It happens overtime, all bilingual people go through the same. If the country where you live at has people speaking only one language you will eventually get rusty on the other one. Every time I have to translate something I realize how much fluency I have lost XD. If I do not have to translate anything, then my mind thinks I speak as fluently as a native would... but that is quite far from reality once I open my mouth lol. Kind of sucks... it is normal tho :)
