This is basically depression. You want to let yourself just fall into the void, but at the same time you're trying not to let it happen and stay alive, no matter in how much pain you're in. Over and over, with no ending at sight. That's how most depressed people are feeling on a day to day basis.

Zanimljiva hipoteza. Sort of reminds me off when i was a drug addict. I was completely addicted to opiates and benzodiazepines. I was so close to the point of no return, where my addiction would have swallowed me and I'd never escape. Luckily my parents and my 2 younger brothers are incredible people and did everything they could to support me. I feel so ashamed for putting them through so much fear and uncertainty. This is the most psychologically horrifying movie I have ever watched. I was sweating and felt like I was going to have a heart attack. It was just awful to see the woman scraping her hands on the concrete until they bled and to see her leg wedged under her like that. The producers and director of this film had top level creativity. Actually she could have escaped.
Simple solution. She carefully takes off her clothes initially or after she pushed herself up a bit to allow for more grip. She then will take off her shoe so she can get more grip with her feet too. Then free her leg. She can now stand or crawl and moves to the right where the wall meets the curve and uses her legs and hands to climb up the corner to freedom like that viral baby turtle video.

@@AnnisAdventures yeah but it’s still a mystery. Anything could have happened. I just was talking about the suspense that the recap gives off. The doubt, the inevitable, the possible hope yet the dooming despair…..with no true ending, it could be ANY outcome. Maybe she was saved. Maybe she managed to escape on her own. Maybe she died. It’s really up to you, your imagination, and your perspective. To me it made me anxious and as much as I hoped she’d be ok, every time she slipped or bleed made my doubt gradually grow. It was like juggling through multiple emotions at once which makes the show or movie twice as impressive for displaying scary situations in the simplest form.

This movie perfectly captures depression. We dont see the cause of her being there, nor do we see where she ends being. We just experience the in the middle. We see the pain, agony, hopelessness but we also witness the sole human instinct to survive. To never giving up. The metaphor of this movie was depression and to make the world see how its a crippling and mindfucking disease but we all want to overcome it no matter what.

@nothanks9503 I am in the opposite position. I have a debilitating illness that won't let me live. As my body breaks down, the less options I have. If you can still walk, then walk. Because there may come a point where that option is taken from you. That is what you still have, options.
It doesn't have to be much. For 3 days make brushing your teeth your only goal. Anything else can slide, but you have to brush your teeth. Then the next 3 days, brush your teeth AND your hair.
Don't assume people can read your mind, or understand what is going on. People can't. Even if you explain, they may still not understand. If you are doing the talking, that is all that matters. Then you go meet more people, and create more options. Just never assume anything. Just like we have our cerebral limits, so does everyone else.
Find a new hobby, something you normally wouldn't consider. Don't like it? Try another. You have options. All I can think about is the things I wish I could do, hiking, traveling, cooking, meeting new people. I wish I could fall in love just once before I go.
We become depressed when life doesn't meet our expectations. Our best plans are laid to waste. Or something comes out of left field and destroys any of our expectations and plans.
Don't ruminate on failed endeavors, expectations, or perceptions, that holds you back, and keeps giving them power over you.
Do you know what makes athletes different from the rest of us? Despite failing over and over again? It's their perception . Where we see fear in publicly failing, of not measuring up, they see opportunity for advancement, and a chance to try again. That is why if you look, they don't get anxious at a public trial...they feel excitement.
You have to stop cycling and ruminating and change your thought process. When your thoughts turn to something negative, change it to something positive. It takes work and practice. Just like you didn't become depressed overnight, you won't get out overnight. And failure is ok as long as you don't use it as an excuse to give up.
I once heard a theory that mental illness is a result of civilization. We aren't meant to live in groups of millions, but of 25-50. Beurocracy takes the place of compassionate leadership. Schools take the place of instruction from a loving aunt and uncle teaching you. We have lost a lot of intimate opportunities and it makes us sad and lonely. We are social creatures, we aren't meant to be alone. Yet despite in a population of millions we can end up feeling that way. But instead of being a tree waiting for birds to build a family or bees to make a hive in your branches, you are just waiting for a lumberjack to cut you down.
The most successful and noble thing you can accomplish, that will make you more successful than many, is to just find your tribe. Whether you need to find one or build one, they will add to your life and you to theirs.
      Find your tribe.
There is a great book calked "The Five People You Meet in Heaven " by Mitch Alburn. It is about how even those who walk the seemingly simplest paths in life, can still have profound affects on the people around them. I wish you healing and prosperity in the future. But don't get overwhelmed with the end result, just start with brushing your teeth. And do me a favor, just take a moment out of each day no matter where you are, and just look for the beauty in it.

We are more simple than that. Maybe it’s as simple as you have lost something, you are grieving and in time you will desire something else and the pursuit of your desires will give you meaning again. • @supremochu8138

CURVE Written and Directed by Tim Egan. Taking just 8 hours to write, from first concept to shooting script, Curve was inspired by two key moments in the director’s life - the first being hit by a car and the second a conversation with a depressed friend. “I still remember the feeling of wet tarmac under my fingers” Egan recalls when describing his lucky escape after being knocked into the centre lane of busy traffic, where he gripped the asphalt preparing to be struck by a second car in a matter of seconds. Whilst this first experience was an undeniable physical one for the writer/director, the second influencing experience was a much more mental one. Describing a conversation he had with a friend struggling with grief, where she explained that “the only good moments of her day being the seconds after she woke up”, Egan obviously had some more symbolic intentions coursing under the surface of his thoughts when writing Curve. “Her mind was clear and at peace for a few seconds before she remembered her pain”, he recalls. “Then grief rushed in, a feeling not unlike vertigo. She said the earth opened up beneath her and the rest of her day was simply about holding on by sheer force of tension”.

Fear and anxiety often occur together, but these terms are not interchangeable. Fear is an intense biological response to immediate danger, while anxiety is an emotion regarding things we think may happen.

The dark depth with the unseen noise monster represents the subconscious mind. To Carl Jung, that is the place where all the monsters of the mind reside. She, like we all, must resist slipping down into our subconscious because it has that which will consume us in it. Water also symbolizes it, the dark murky depths. In our dreams, the subconscious communicates to us with symbol, this film is like a nightmare to represent that. At at the beginning she wakes up into consciousness from sleep. Awake state is that state where the subconscious is once again scary and invisible to us. It is actually the awake that is our terror state, the place of all our sorrows and suffering. But, it is the subconscious that we refuse to go explore or bring to the surface where we can confront it, or bring a light down into. That is Jung's process of fixing your mental health and become self realized.

One thing I’d like to note is he never says that at any point the woman calls for help. Most of the time when you have depression you never ask for help from other people because you either feel like you can overcome it by yourself or you simply don’t want anyone to help you. Since this film is a metaphor for depression I’d say that’s why you never see her calling for help, and that’s ultimately what would have saved her.

She could have just moved to the wall to her right. That would have allowed her an extra point of contact, especially if she positioned her body in the corner. From there she could have rolled onto her side and released her leg. After the feeling to the limb was restored she could have leant against the corner for balance to get to her feet. From a standing position her head would have been pretty close to the top of the ledge. Then just grab the ledge and pull herself up, using her feet to press off the wall for added stability.

I think it's meant to be more of a gray area, showing that she might have tried over and over to make that climb, the physical evidence of reality and the mental confusion disconnecting the ability to relate behavior to objective reality in a definitive way as you lose the plot (so to speak). The audience gets a view from the outside perspective to track it, but this is a nod to make even THEM question what's actually happening, REALLY giving a taste of what that struggle is!

Her bent leg tells us she is put under circumstances where it's hard to move forward in life, she tries to simply stay on the surface of life. And those were not hallucinations. She just saw prints on the opposite wall, the prints of another person that was in the same situation as she is now, and that another person couldn't make it.

You might say, well she can bend that one leg upright and push upwards to stop falling, no because that would put even more weight outward away from her waste, a.k.a her center of gravity. Zhe would be able to push herself up but since more weight is farther from the center of gravity she'll slide downward just a much. But why the leg being bended backwards allows her to not slide as much? Because more contact and weight with the surface area. Her shoe laces and jeans also causes friction.

Luckily I’ve received help since the worst feelings I’ve had are in the past. But in my darkest hours, I was tinkering on the edge of whether or not I wanted to to live or die. Every time I would come close to feeling like I wanted to end it, my will to live was always stronger. This movie is really sad because I felt such a connection to it. Being stuck in something you can’t control and being alone with little to no options is horrifying. That’s just my interpretation and I’m sure this movie is up for many different types of interpretations depending on how you feel.

This seems like Sisyphus only without the rolling of the rock up the hill instead of the rock it's yourself trying to go up the hill but you can never get out. A very good modern interpretation. And an excellent representation of how depression affects the mind we can't escape it on our own we need somebody there to toss us an emotional rope and help us out of the pit we all find ourselves in ever sitting on the precipice of Madness and darkness constantly trying to survive and pull ourselves back but at the same time wondering maybe it would just be easier to give in and slip away

In Mexico my cousins and I went through a tunnel. There was a drop off round hole in the middle, 20ft they say, so we went along the side of it. One day I took a rock, it was only 2ft deep. They said “we only say that to scare you and we just don’t like to get our feet wet”

As someone who has dealt with both major depression as well as poverty, I don't agree that this is how depression feels. At all.
I do think, though, that this is how poverty feels. One wrong move and you're in the abyss. There is no way out--it may look simple to an onlooker, but actually doing it...

This played nicely into my fear of gargantuan rounded/sloped structures, intense noises attached to those large structures (though deep ones chill my bones more) and then you just existing and having to consume it’s aura being right next to it or on it, a place you have no business being. I also hate the sight of those crazy bellmouth spillways. That fear is etched into my childhood nightmares and I have no clue how it was formed, but this is like my version of backrooms, lol.
Either way, this was complete hopelessness because even if she managed to free her leg, there was no way to get speed to jump up to mantle that edge in her hurt condition, and you’re in the middle of the gigantic ocean yet alone a storm approaching which would likely make the waves large enough to end up in that spillway which means a crushing bye-bye for you. It’s just pain throughout this entire selection.

This is such a perfectly raw description of some fears of my own. As a kid i used to be terrified of loud noises and being next to large trucks because i was afraid of the "PSSHH" air brake noise. It also reminds me of dreams i used to have about floating in the middle of the ocean and looking down into the crystal clear water and seeing gigantic jet turbines/ glowing afterburners directly a few hundred feet below me.

My theory is that she's one of those hikers that don't research the area or come prepared. There's some dangerous places on earth where you should not venture unless you know the grounds well. Tell people where you're going and never go alone. This kind of thing happens a lot.. and the hallucinations that she was having are very accurate. If you've had or are having a near death experience, you will have very vivid hallucinations and you can see and hear things very clearly.

Thank goodness for these clips. These kinds of movies give me nightmares and never leave my mind because they have no clear end (I always believe they live even knowing it's not logical). Even worse there are people having last moments just like this, all alone, right now, dying...

0:47 You need to roll to your front because, on your elbows, hand and knees there's more stability. And hopefully try to inch across to the corner where two concrete surface meets, if you survive that, then try using the corners to help yourself up that ledge.

This movie perfectly captures depression. We dont see the cause of her being there, nor do we see where she ends being. We just experience the in the middle. We see the pain, agony, hopelessness but we also witness the sole human instinct to survive. To never giving up. The metaphor of this movie was depression and to make the world see how its a crippling and mindfucking disease but we all want to overcome it no matter wh

This is so cool. Waking up alone on a large black man made structure in the middle of the ocean was literally one of my worst fears as a child. I used to have dreams were I would wake up floating out in the northern sea, and a huge black submarine would rise up next to me, or sometimes it would be a large container ship would sail right into me, or I would wake up floating underneath a decommissioned oil platform. This movie perfectly captures the feeling of those dreams.
