Nobody explains in so much detail on ipad updates like Chris does 🙏. Most other youtubers dosent explain properly. I learned a lot of ipad from this channel . Thank you Chris as always 🙏
Great walkthrogh Chris! Tons of new features. I appreciate how much time it takes to create these videos. It also demonstrates how versatile the iPad is especially with the new OS.
23:42 I believe you can fix the “robotic voice” by going into Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Voices. From here you can download and activate an “enhanced” version of whichever voice you want per language.
Loved this overview video... I still remember the iPAD OS 16 video and it's nice to see the progression and changes that have occurred especially with stage manager... a feature I stayed struggling with for the past year.
Perhaps the most surprising thing is that iPad 6th gen (2018) was still qualified to update to iPadOS 17! Apple was already generous to include that older device during the iPadOS 16 update but we thought it would end there. I was pleasantly surprised with Apple's generosity this year.
Most ipad get 5 years of os update Its not a new thing This is the last update for ipad 6 since ipados 16 is supported for ipad 5 but not ipad 17 Ipad 17 require ipad 6th generation and above so likely this is the last update for ipad 6 for sure
This is the best iPad OS update video I have seen. Will watch again because you provided so much content. Based on this video, I will now subscribe. Thank you for all your work.
Looking forward to the improved stage manager since I use it all the time. Also, I either missed it or you didn't cover the new Safari feature that turns a web page into an app. I think that might be a useful update. Maybe that is just a new MacOS feature. Thanks for the great info!
Hi Chris. Great video, as usual! Love the new stage manager and the improvements in the keyboard layout, it’s so much easier to type now. Still gutted about the lack of improvements in the Files App… I was hoping that they would fine tune it in IPad OS 17 and become somehow closer to the Finder for Mac OS. Oh well. Maybe one day!
LOL. This comment will last for years. Reminds me of the old poster, "Free beer tomorrow." The free beer will never be today, it will always be tomorrow... I guess the update will always be "today".
As a web developer really wish iPad OS had support for localhost and Apache Server.. there are apps but they are clunky and lacking fully access to the system. You could just access a remote server on AwS and probably get something running but it would be really cool to develop offline on my iPad Pro. Also VS Code on iPad would be great too. I still feel the iPad OS is lacking since it’s already over powered with M1 and M2 processing.. really be nice to see the iPad OS getting more robust and more Pro.
Wow, a big step up! However 12-inch iPad w keyboard still weights more than a MacBook Air. And smaller iPads aren’t so convenient to do serious work w excel, let’s say. In any case, if they improve file manager, then it will start being decent oS
I can’t wait to get my new iPad Pro 12.9” M2 & Apple Pencil ✏️🙌🏾 Monday can’t get here fast enough 😂 thanks for this video yo. I’m not new to ISO, I’m upgrading from my 2016 iPad Pro & Apple Pencil running IOS 16.6 …. But finally 🙌🏾…. I’m heading into flagship baby, So this video will help me out allot. Because wow 🤩
I’m also getting my 12.9 m2 on Monday! Let’s both have a great day! I got a nice Brydge keyboard for 60 bucks because the company is out of business, but I learned it was bought out so it’s still getting support! Normally it’s 250, a great deal!
(3:06) I sure hope macOS style font management, including support for user-installed fonts, is being planned for the next major iPadOS release or the one after that. I can imagine not only setting custom UI fonts, but adding text with user-installed fonts in stuff like Procreate and GoodNotes.
i don't comment often but this is such a great video! thank you for showing a real world use for all of the features, i've recently picked up an ipad pro 2018 and have been DYING to find a video that doesn't just skim over everything like a slideshow. the kanban style to-do list is something that'll come in handy to organize college work :)
“Why does Apple lag behind everyone else?” Show me another high-end tablet that is actually popular. There’s only one thing more annoying than the “iSheep” people, and that’s people who seemingly make “I hate Apple” their entire personality. Get a life tbh.
@@daltonmeredith6790 bruh, what are you talking about? In what way. I’ve been with Apple since iPhone 4 and had a MacBook Air since I was 16. Apple has always been peak at elegance and function. Yes it has flaws in certain areas but you’re making a statement like Apple has always been bad at what it does. Yes they are behind in an aspect but atleast they perfect it to the best it can instead of releasing it with bugs and issues like android.
A great overview, thanks! I watched to the end and while I understand your view of Shortcuts (and I agree), the scanning document one will be a HUGE benefit to me 😀. My fave feature has to be the Reminders grocery list 🥕🍎🍍
lock screen widgets. I think I am more excited about the upcoming videos - very intrigued about capture card uses and also about the new apps that take advantage of IOS 17
I know this is an older thread, but this "lock screen" thing just doesn't work here. All it does is tell me to unlock the thing when I hold down the lock screen and then it goes back black. Tried googlin' it and I'm not getting anything other than how to change wallpaper in settings.
Hi ChrisLawley... Amazing Ipad walkthrough. of course I loved the wallpaper collections. I like to know one thing - In the Home screen Dock on left most corner I could see a mac icon. How to add it to the iPad. Can you please share it? Thanks
anyone have an issue with a regression in iPadOS 17 where the USB-C video output no longer sleeps? it was an issue in Dec 2022 when I got my Dell USB-C monitor and the bug was fixed as of iPadOS 16.6. Unfortunately after upgrading to iPadOS 17 yesterday, it has regressed. I reported it to Apple and wondering if anyone else has this issue. it’s definitely annoying to walk away from my desk and see that my monitor has been on all day or all night!
Thanks for the video! As an amature astronomer, the capture sounds fantastic! Hopefully I can plug my Canon into my iPadpro and ditch the lagging wireless.
Have an IPad Air 3 and not gonna update it for the next 2 years, so Stege manager is not relevant for me 😢. Wondering, how this update will work on my device. A bit disappointed with this minor update. There are some features which had to be added since the first IPadOS was presented and wich are more usefull than Health app or advanced spotlight… The video is great, thank you.
The update worked for me, but my Reminders app is still at the normal level. Without different symbols and just 6 colours. Do you know why that could be?
It seemed you demonstrated Standby mode for your lock screen, but as far as I can tell, Standby mode is not available in iPadOS 17. If it is, how'd you implement it?
Any issues with reliability? My iPad is my daily driver. I'd like to play with some of these features, but not at the cost of hourly/daily crashes Thanks for the video, Chris. I love your content!
What’s your favorite feature in iPadOS 17?
the updated stage manager is super nice
New stage manager
Definitely stage manager first and foremost; followed by Apple Notes and Reminders enhancements! Can't wait to upgrade today!!
Didn't get the update still...
I got it yayyy

Congratulations 🎉
I love the amount of details provided. Good job Chris !
Thank you!! 😁

Stage Manager is great now! The Safari thing was technically in a 16 update.
I’m an Android phone user but when it comes to tablet, nothing beats iPad ever since its conception.
This video every year is like a tradition 🎉🎉🎉

Anyone wondering, the update should drop today at 10am pacific and 1pm eastern unless there is a problem apple has to deal with
I downloaded it, The sticker feature is just so good!
I like stage manager upgrades and the "linking other notes" features most!

It is the e-ink pad in your cover picture that interests me more 😊😊😊
Great video. The add text to pdf tip was great as I couldn’t add a date to a pdf doc I had. Used the “add text” and was able to easily add it. Thanks.
That take out trash reminder must be a reference to marques obsession in reminder apps as well
Hello. I appreciated your indepth review of ios17. Stage Manager is really starting to grow on me....😊
wonderful and comprehensive deep dive into IPADOS 17 - thank you so much- Erwin
iOS17 is a very nice update for the iPad! Great video Chris!
These videos are why I'm on my iPad more than my PC
One other small but very welcome notes thing is you can now save your sketches to photos which you couldn’t do before
OHHHH I missed that! Though nobody would ever want to save my sketches. Though your sketches and drawings are defiantly worth saving!

are you using reminders now? what happened to Things 3?
How to get the number row on the keyboard?
Thanks for your detailed video. Lots of features to like. Blessings on your day!
I love how you are FaceTiming Vader. 😂
Still can’t believe I can’t skip tracks on the music widget app. Sick of being drip feed controls others have had for years.
Exactly.
You have put so much effort to make video....
Thanks for the video...🌺
HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE I JUST UPDATED MY IPAD
How do I stop the numeric part from appearing on the keyboard?
Is all of this written in a document somewhere? My head is spinning with all the information. 😵💫

Hi Christopher, if you’re using an iPad, how did you have Finder in iPadOS 17? Excellent video. Thank you and waiting for your response 👍👍🙏🏻

why do you have the MacOS Finder in your Dock? is it now featured in iPadOS 17?
Hey! what's that note-taking app being used at 21:23 please!
How do you get your keyboard to have letters and numbers on one keyboard?
How to connect Sony webcam to it , which cable to use ??
This was so in depth! Much appreciated 🙏🏾
I've been binging your videos recently, love your content! Any chance for a video about your Apple Reminders setup?
That one is coming very soon! Like in the next couple of days. It's finished and scheduled.
The update worked for me, but my Reminders app is still at the normal level. Without different symbols and just 6 colours. Do you know why that could be?
Where to find wallpapers from videos ❔
Could you specifically mention those additions the mini will be getting? - not sure if they’re getting stage manager ever :(
Do you recommend the iPad model A2018 12" for music production?? Only for this kind of use.
Unfortunately if you have an older ipad stage manager isn’t a part of the OS17 update.
I can’t seem to find how to change Lock Screen

Wow, is this the most complete iPadOS video or what?
By the way is that a regular size iPad Pro or the big one?

I see that Sidekick notepad!
Where can i find this wallpaper from start?
They let you put a widget wherever you want on the home screen, but icons still line up from left to right, top to bottom...?
😮💨
Chris, do you like Stage Manager on your iPad? For some reason, i only find it useful on an External monitor.
7:08 that is an awkward mess in my eyes; moreover, with over 50% of the screen left unused.
Is there any difference in battery 🔋 ?
Between iOS 16 and 17 ?
How’s the battery life ??
I wonder if i can use my iphone as a webcam now in my ipad
Absolutely beautiful updates and lwk rare from apple 😂 I can’t wait to use stage manager to help my productivity for my schoolwork & multitasking
