    This begs the question: if whitemane is doing everything right, how can you fight against her? We've seen here that she has answers for both damage spread over multiple characters and focus fire, where other healers seem to be more weak to one or the other.
    If the enemy team focused only her to get her out of the fight immediately, that could work, but the problem then is you have a tendency to overextend and die to the rest of her team.
    Any ideas? What's the best counter play?

    • @Q_z_

      Gank her, stop her from getting into teamfight.
      If it's too late, silence her or keep changing target the team focus because she will her Q will cost so much mana that there will be someone that doesn't have the buff.

    • @darkopz
      @darkopz 6 років тому +13

      In order for her to team heal she has to overextend slightly herself. It’s usually when you can land CC on her. Without monster peels she’s either OOM or dead. Getting her to blow her Ult m, backing off and reengaging is also a great way to win against her.

    • @MrDestroyerPrime
      @MrDestroyerPrime 6 років тому

      Ideally when your playing against her you pick burst, cc or dive. Good examples of counters are, stitches; land a hook gorge somebody's gonna die. Alarak with silence is also quite potent vs her and my personal favorite is Jania; who will just delete her after lvl 16.
      Other alternatives are digging her out with a haymaker, biotic grenade, and emerald also work well in high lvl play. Honestly there are a whole host of other counters to her but if the enemy team is basically all front line damage like they were in this vid. Yeah her team is basically godmode.

    I don't understand why you wait for the 4 second threshold before using even a single Q. As long as you stagger the use of them you can start using a Q immediately after using Clemency or W. Sure, it might be good to wait 4 seconds to do a quick triple burst heal a lot of the time, but there's no reason to set that in stone. (Edit: Well, I should've waited a bit more. You did mention that you can do that later in the match, but I think it was a bit misleading how you phrased it in the first half.)
    Also, you're mistaken about cancelling the W/Clemency to get a faster cooldown. The cooldown is ticking away during the animation even though you can't see it. You can see that you have a 10 second cooldown when you cancel it right away, but a 7 second cooldown if you fully channel.

    Paradox, maybe you could help me understand what a tank needs to do? I'm in gold now, but I still can't play any tank (I do OK with bruisers like Sonya or smash Varian, but it doesn't translate to the tank role). I always end up dying alone with my team fleeing in all directions... Observing your videos I learned about anchoring. But how and when to peel, when to engage, it's all a mystery to me. Please help :)

    • @oshersharaby
      @oshersharaby 6 років тому +1

      rioga98 Another important thing you didn't mention is figuring both yours and enemy team's comp and understanding how each team wants the fights to go. For example you're playing a muradin, and your team is built around poke and sustain dmg, say naz and raynor. You should never engage head on. What you should be doing is simply zoning for your team and giving them vision allowing them to do constant dmg and wear out the enemy team. DO NOT start a fight by jumping into enemy team, this is almost always true and especially with a poke comp because no one can follow up, and if you used your jump for engage you now dont have an escape and you're pretty much either dead or your team is now exposed to dive because you're too far to peel for them. That's just one or two examples. The point is you need to understand team comps. Good luck!

    One thing I didn't hear you say (or missed) about clemency is that it's a great way to use your W safely, which I found many people don't immediately realise. Often, you can't go in to channel it on an enemy without being out of position so you wouldn't get mana refunds or healing out of it. With clemency, you can. That's something I found a lot of people get wrong, notably that they have the mindset of "But I can deal damage AND heal (via zeal) with my W, therefore clemency is bad/unneeded".

    Just to add to this, apologies if this was mentioned. At lvl1, inquisition does 50dmg every 0.5 sec for 3 sec, therefore 300 healing while clemency does 371 healing over 3 sec. Therefore if you need to heal only ONE target, clemency is better than inquisition.

    • @eiknaurjensen7927
      @eiknaurjensen7927 6 років тому +1

      I believe inquisition ticks immediatly, followed by once every 0.5 seconds, resulting in a total of 350 damage and healing. Still slightly less than clemency, but I'd say 21 healing is insignificant compared to 350 damage and a 30% slow. The real benefit of clemency, (outside of the reduced cooldown) is the fact that you don't need to be in range of an enemy hero, making for a much more flexible method of triggering high inquisition.

    • @jokkepokke95
      @jokkepokke95 6 років тому

      Inquisition deals seven ticks of damage, first when it attaches then every 0.5 seconds for 3 seconds. It deals and heals the same.

  • @Yiryujin

    From personal experience, this strat works very well from middle plat and upwards. Majority of people tend to play safer and know not to over engage.
    Gold 1 and below however.... this strategy doesn't really work. People tend to over engage or over extend and its either blow through all your mana to keep someone alive and enter rest of the fight with no mana and lose the fight or let them die and lead to 4 vs 5 situation where you lose 2 more people anyway because they don't know how to back off.
    I find in lower level, someone like Malfurion that can set up kills for the team reliably and interrupt others with silence is much easier to "carry" with.

      The name of the resource is irrelevant, besides Sonya's rage. Changing the name is more of a flavor thing - and Whitemane is from Warcraft, so it's better that it's mana. I wish all of the SC heroes would follow Morale's trend and have theirs called energy (with the color being purple instead of Morale's yellow, to match the SC1/SC2 color scheme).

    W cooldown does start while you are casting

  • @MetalPhantom7
    @MetalPhantom7 6 років тому

    Just wonder what is the "4 seconds threshold" are you talking about? You can cast one of your Qs immediately after you've casted and have W in cooldown. Then you wait when your desperation nearly drops and then cast Q a second time. Again you wait when desperation nearly drops and cast Q the third time. Your W will be up again till that moment.
    Nevertheless, you can cast Q one time and just ignore that and wait when your desperation drops then cast Qs three times with a slight pause or even cast it twice and let desperation drop and then use QQQ + W combo. So these 30 or 90mp that you lost are not a big deal, considering her passive mp regen is good and you are restoring +75mp per stack of desperation so you'll get your full mp back in the next triple Q + W combo

    • @NotParadox
      @NotParadox  6 років тому +2

    • @MetalPhantom7
      @MetalPhantom7 6 років тому +5

      Entire Q build is not good, I only use 1st and 4th level talents for w, the rest is for q.
      Full q build is not very good cuz you'll have more healing in a short period of time but talents for w in 1st and 4th level grant you infinite mana and your overall healing will be much greater because potentially you can never run out of mana and you can potentially never even return to base and be constantly patching someone up after teamfights.

    • @Silverhawk100
      @Silverhawk100 6 років тому +1

      Most of her Q talents are really good at countering a dive assassin or hyper-carry team focusing their damage through one assassin. Her W cycle is usually too slow for the kind of damage those kinds of teams dish out, so it's best to sensibly build Q then.

      Whitemane requires quite a bit of mechanical skill and focus, so if you're new to the game, I suggest playing some easier characters (Li Li would be the obvious choice) so you can focus on learning general stuff that applies to all characters.
      However, once you're somewhat comfortable with your map awareness, positioning, game sense and such, Whitemane is certainly a character worth picking up, as she's both fun and quite powerful.

      If you're starting out, poke around the roster, try some free heroes, find a hero or play-style you like and work on that. Then as you get to know the game better start branching out.
      So to answer your question: if you think Whitemane would be fun, save up and buy her. When I first started I saw Brightwing, loved her abilities and she was the first hero I bought and mastered.

    • @Onshki
      @Onshki 6 років тому

      I recommend Alexstraza, Malfurion, and Deckard to get used to supports. Li Li is certainly easy, but these 3 are pretty good at learning the game. Stukov is a little complex because landing a good silence is so crucial.

    Btw Q talent on 1 is better in my opinion.4 second difference on W compared to 30% more healing for each stack of desperation isnt that great in team fights.
    Spell power on 7 is also better because u can outheal their dmg rather than cleansing and letting them save their spells + 60 sec cd on the cleanse.

    • @eiknaurjensen7927
      @eiknaurjensen7927 6 років тому +2

      Clemency doesn't just reduce the cooldown on w. It also allows you to cast it on an ally which means you can heal people without an enemy hero in range and without wasting huge amounts of mana, which is impossible otherwise.
      And besides, the 30% increased healing on your Q per stack of desperation isn't really that much. You'll rarely get the full benefit of the talent since by the fourth cast of your Q, which is the first one to get the full 90% healing, you're almost already oom, and you can't even get a partial refund from it through the level 4 talent since desperation doesn't stack above 3. And as long as you're only casting 3 Q's before letting your desperation fall off you're only getting an average of 30% more healing per Q, while clemency, even without counting in the added flexibility, allows 28.5% more "free" Q casts which is what you'll be casting most of the time.
      And of course, once you hit level 16, clemency gets even more powerful, since it increases the amount of times you can trigger radiance, whereas martyrdom has no effect on it.
      TL;DR: Clemency provides a ton of flexibility at the cost of a little less healing in really desperate situations, and that, imo, is a worthwhile tradeoff.

      in this case, justified thoughts aside, just play far enough back that butcher never gets to charge you at all. if your team still insists on staying behind you, they're throwing, report them.

    Pretty much knew everything, except that 16 talent.
    I usually never go for root at 13, why? Im a QM player, which means ur team will abandon u the 90% of the times u are being attacked and still ask for heals why u are getting killed... xD
    I like how the 16 talent works tho, never saw it and i like it, used to go for the W to do the double 75% dmg reduction at 20 for the same reason as the 13 talent, people goes on me and my team gives 0 fuckies :D

    • @jokkepokke95

      In QM I almost always play pure damage WM and play as an assassin with some heals tossed on. Clemency for the shorter cd, High Inquisitor for mana in case I have to burst heal myself, while Fanatical Power, Divine Reckoning and Harsh Discipline are a disgusting combo that will blow up most non-tanks before they're able to walk out. At 20 I always go Purge The Wicked because it turns her into a tank buster as well.
      Really fucking fun QM playstyle.

    I think you forgot to say the essence of whitemane. Which is dealing with low range. Whitemane has to approach to heal, either to your enemy or ally. Your q has low range and zeal lasts only for 8 seconds. Ult has very low range, w roots you. Also you shouldnt put w needlessly on cooldown. Its essentially your burst, your aoe, your root, your damage, everthing. Sometimes its enough to do one or two q in 4 seconds.

      She punishes burst and can walk away from a sustained fight. So no, you shouldn't be able to KILL a whitemane. But you should easily be able to win vs her. Just stay on the move and don't commit to a full on fight to kill her and she'll never pop her ult, and eventually have to waste her mana.

    • @Onshki
      @Onshki 6 років тому +1

      @@Silverhawk100 without ulting Whitemane does not outpace Lunara's damage. Especially if Lunara builds slightly bursty.

    • @Silverhawk100
      @Silverhawk100 6 років тому +1

      Yeah, but if you start leaping strike on her, all your burst is suddenly going to be reduced by 40% and she usually won't be TOO far from some kind of safety (hero or tower) that she can back up to. In isolation, 1v1, absolutely Whitemane can't outpace a Luna. But in a slightly more realistic scenario where you might be in lane or you might be 10 seconds away from a friend she can usually walk away from most engagements with her.

    actually whitemane sucks during team fights, and the enemy team had so low dmg with just one assassin vs 2 tanks that your teammates could win the game without you. Try play wm when enemy team has more dmg or divers that attack you, good luck standing still to channel abilities without exploding
