But according to a recent internal announcement, Apple has cancelled the project. After investing billions of dollars and hiring hundreds of employees. So why is Apple giving up on Apple Car? Well, the first reason has to do with technological limitations.

Knowing Apple, your only option if for example you need new tires that you could only get those tires through Apple and Apple would be the only ones allowed to change the tires.
and if you did change the tires without apple, a lot of functions will be locked
And you need to use Apple AirRide (tm) to inflate the tires or your car will stop working.

I think that’s why they keep buying AI startups. Let other companies feed it data and then buy that. So they get to preserve Apple’s privacy ethics while still advancing.

The whole idea was laughable anyway. CarPlay already exists, and the one differentiating feature, FSD, is still minimally functional on Tesla after several years of work. Apple never would’ve been able to pull it off

As for Siri. I use it primarily while driving with CarPlay, and each update has actually made Sri worse than better. Now I have to yell Siri 3 times for it to react and after that the rest of the drive Siri functions normal.

While Tesla has perfected the automatic car as we all now know, I still think we're maybe ten years away from fully automatic cars that are streamlined to the public. Perhaps that's why Apple has abandoned the project until the technology is improved.

I see apple getting more into being the autonomous and AI software and interface modules creator for known car brands to market their cars as Apple drive. Then maybe at a later time revisit the idea of building their own as a high end car after feeling the market response.

I've been a big Apple customer since 1998, but since Tim Cook took over my enthusiasm has diminished. Where I used to defend them I now find myself agreeing with their critics. They invest so much into crap like those goofy goggles while their software definitely does not "just work" anymore. And then they want to make a car that is even more dangerous than a Tesla? I just saw where the E.U. is proposing that manufacturers have gauges in front of the driver and physical controls that can be used without taking eyes off the road, unlike the idiotic Teslas which use one big tablet in the middle of the dash. But on the bright side both Apple and Tesla are hurting in China so there's that.
