A. I hope you're ok B. You ARE a professional shooter to all of us. C. We have learned from every video you have made and love it! D. Get some rest bud.
I vote for you to share whatever you want to share with us. I find myself trusting your advice because you show the good and the bad, and you demonstrate that you use experience/testing to guide your decisions. Good luck with everything.
I support whatever decision you make. I am here to learn what you have to teach. Good and bad. You earned my respect when you made a mistake and owned it. I hope you heal quickly and completely.
You include as much as you feel you need to. You’ll have the support of us all regardless of how personally involved you make your channel. Most importantly just look after yourself and your family man
I found your channel through Matt's Demo ranch headquarters build! I enjoy the technical side of shooting that you share! I think sharing more would be cool, as you said it's nice to have a fuller picture
Just look at Matt and his Off The Ranch channel. It's pretty well known that people love getting the "life" side of the story. Gets people more emotionally invested.
So many in the upper levels of anything tend to look down their noses at the rest of us. Thank you for being the person you are. I would gladly listen to anything you wish to share. Of all of the channels I subscribe to, yours is always the first I look for when new videos come out. God bless and keep you always sir.
Erick, I'm a subscriber and have been watching you since I discovered your channel about a year ago. I've learned so much and the information you've shared has made me a much better marksman. Please keep up the good work. I've been wanting to get into annealing for several months. Don't know much about it and what I've found on YT is allover the place. So I'd like to encourage you to please make a annealing video. Regarding your hospital bracelet and your personal life. I vote you share some of what's going on in your personal life. Don't need every detail, but if there are things going on that impact your shooting competition or your ability to make your videos, please share. Would allow us to feel more connection to you on a personal level. God bless you. Mike B
Man, when you showed the hospital bracelet my heart dropped! I hope you're taking care of yourself and you don't overdo it. I feel like I know you and appreciate your effort more then you know. But please prioritize and do what's best for you. All of your videos are appreciated and I look forward to each one! Stay safe and stay healthy! Semper Fi

Honestly, I'm not shooting AT ALL, right now, and it's been some years since I did... but, I like *you*, I like your presentation, I enjoy seeing a professional attitude and approach (even "scientific"!) to the 'work', and can learn something about another facet of life. You have to have some passion about what you do, to carry you through the tough spots, and, sometimes, it's probably more enjoyable doing reloading, or testing some new setup, than the competition! (well, maybe demolition ranch competition is *fun*?). Anything personal that you feel that you can 'open up' to 40,000 viewers, fine with me, it's part, maybe a BIG part, of who you are. Keep well, keep safe.
As a novice shooter and hand loader, I appreciate the journey for improvements. In order to "learn" you need to learn from the best. I appreciate your help and yes, make this journey personal as you are doing and this entails the mental aspect of shootings also! As a competitor, you know that the mental aspect is the differentiator. I appreciate your inputs into what works and doesn't. Thank you.
I was allways curious about annealing brass. As for the personal information I would keep it simple, and honestly don't be to trustworthy. You can reveal somethings but I would recommend protecting yourself as well.
You were tired! Lol. You share as much as you like. I’m a very private person but at times making yourself vulnerable and sharing give people around you is liberating. Thanks for keeping it real and sharing. Let me know when the house next door comes up for sale!!
Annealing brass for the poor man please! I have two torches but never have done it, but if Erik Cortina anneals his brass I guess I'm gonna have to do it too.😉 Thanks for your time & videos! #Hard work👍👍
I appreciate all you do for us here on UA-cam and enjoy watching, honestly feel like you already share so much and have many fans . All the best for you and “real life”👍🙏🏻🤘🏻
There is always so much work behind anything that most people don’t see. All the work to prepare, research, test and prepare needed to do the “fun part” even the 4 hour drives to get to a match, heck making sure the truck is OK to drive and we have not gotten to the personal life stuff.
Your decision, sometimes sharing helps. Personally, still coping with putting down our 16 year old sheltie Tuesday night. Dealing with upset wife and son... But life continues.
Erik, your videos are great and really informative, you have a phenomenal confident humility and I have learnt a lot from you in the last few days catching up on your videos. Please keep dispelling the myths and pointing to the bits that matter. Thank you and please keep sharing. 💖
Hope all is well Eric love the information you pass on to make us all better at shooting and life, and we appreciate all your life lessons in this Chanel and your other. From Australia get well my friend ✌️
I think with 41,100+ subscribers your doing just fine with what you share with all of us. Keep doing what your doing it's working and we all love your channel and content 😁👍 ... I hope all is well with you and your family ! Stay safe Eric and thanks for sharing Sir👊🇺🇸
What you choose to share of your personal life is up to you, it will not run me off or make me watch more. I enjoy your shooting related videos since I just recently purchased a bolt action rifle that I plan to shoot long range with (600 yards around here). I doubt that I will shoot competitively and if I did it would be with a military rifle. Wish I had found your channel before I purchased a few tools, your "finding Jam" video was very helpful.
You must do what you feel is right. I recently found your videos. The information that you have shared has really helped me as I am new to reloading. I want to thank you for sharing. Be safe.
Eric, greatly appreciate your content. Me and my son both follow you and we have both learned a massive amount from you!!! Can't thank you enough. My dad taught me how to reload, he's been reloading for 30yrs. But he has never loaded for precision. That's what my son and I do is precision (308 & 6.5CM). The precision learning has come from you. As for the "additional content", that is totally your call sir. I will tell you that I am a medical professional and have been for almost 30yrs. Im responsible for saving peoples lives everyday, and I'm proud to say that. Me and my son hope you are ok!!!
I would agree with most other people that have commented. Share what you comfortable with. I have seen alot of channels receive alot of support from viewers when they experience hardships and share them. It also diversifies your channel and brings in viewers/subs that might not be there otherwise. Matt's off the ranch channel is a great example of that. I think most viewers will support you with whatever you decide. Hope all is well with you and you family. I'll send prayers your way. Keep doing what you do man great content as always.
The technical aspect you share fantastic, both here and when you show your day job( where I first saw you ). I can relate to the need to put in the time to make it work. I shot air rifle field target for 10 years and usually put 100-200 shots down daily after work and tons of hours testing different pellets to find which works best with each rifle, or if using nitrogen works better than compressed dry air. For those who think this doesn't compare, the equipment cost may be nearly the same-$2500-5000 scopes and the same or more for the rifle just to be in the game. But YOU still have to put in the time. Thanks so much for sharing and best wishes for your health!
You keep doing what your doing Eric. Your videos are fun to watch and you're easy to listen to, no matter what the subject, and I've learned a lot from you. If you want to share your life, we'll watch, if not, we'll still watch. I'd even watch a video of you watering a plant......twice :)
Re-entering firearms into my life and im happy I found your channel - from my own experience - couldnt agree with you more. good advice - being good at anything takes time that others wont put in
Love your videos Erik, I like many others found out about you from your neck sizing videos. The reason the “this is my real life” videos get so much attention is because it helps people to feel more connected to the people they look up to or like to watch and learn from! I saw go for it!
here it is almost midnight and you putting out video. I got me a couple of those bracelets playing around ignoring warning signs of a heart attack because it was turkey season. Listen to the good docs. started playing with that bore scope you made me buy, arm sore from trying to scrub the barrels now. LOL.
Eric, you need to take care of yourself because you have a daughter that loves you and she needs you. You are our friend and we appretiate you and your videos. I can imagine that youre not eating properly and running all over texas building barndominiums. Those early mornings and sorry cement trucks can get you sown and fast food will clog your arteries. I know youre a good person and I wish I worked with you and could learn from you. Be safe and God bless you
I'm sure most of us don't consider the prep and other so called mundane tasks involved in competition shooting. Thank you for sharing, your passion for the sport is amazing.
God’s blessings to you, brother! Share as you will. Love your messaging on working hard. I’ve shared some of your building videos, where you talk about hard work, with a few spoiled millennials whom need that message.
Brother, you have all of our support and mad love to you and yours sir! Time is always the big equalizer and your videos are gold to a reloader like myself. Getting to know the man behind the knowledge is like opening a gift sir! We appreciate you and everything you do! I for one really enjoy learning more about you, if you feel like sharing, it’s going to be well received and appreciated sir! Just my 2c! Get some rest, take care of you, have an awesome day!
I think everyone would love to hear about your family and life. My Grandfather always told me if there was a will there was a way but most people would not pay the price.
Erik, fellow Texan, take care of yourself, dude! I agree with your philosophy of life that anything good requires a lot of work. But...you CAN work yourself into the ground. Been there, tried that. As an older retired guy, take my word, you need to prioritize sometimes, and when you do, don't forget your health and family. Thanks for all the info you are providing. It is greatly educational.
Learning a lot from you sir!! I think sharing more will shed light on what goes into a tuned shooter and rig. I don’t think new shooters have any idea of what goes into keeping a rifle tuned to shoot little groups. I think some think if they just buy a perfect custom rig that all of their troubles will be over and it’s so not like that in my opinion. Looking forward to your next film.
Erik, thank you for sharing. Sometimes life gets in the way especially when we have a schedule like yours. We enjoy your work videos and these. In a lot of ways we look at all your videos and you as teaching and like the technical information you provide on both Channels. Take care of yourself and don’t burn out. Take it from me, I’ve been there in work and competition. Keep it real but enjoy life along with it. We consider you a friend even though we haven’t met.
And just to add on my previous comment, I've only started watching your vids as from yesterday, have learnt more than the other 1000s of vids prior. I like the fact that you explain to the point and keep it real!!!
Working on my reloads to get them more consistent/accurate. Your videos have absolutely helped. Much appreciated. Everyone needs to keep some personal stuff that way. As to what, that's for each person to decide. You shouldn't feel that you need to share personal stuff. I don't think anyone would hold that against you. Definitely some weirdos on the interwebs. Where in the reloading process do you anneal? I still have not been able to find an answer. This is the main question I have for that video.
Humility is king. HIPPA is privacy. Desire for transparency is understood. I’m in the same boat. Therapeutically if you feel the need share it’s what’s best for you. I’ll close with this, “🙏 God Bless You and the things in your life”.
With Covid impacting globally there’s never been a better time to share and unburden, as this is one time we’re all in this together. I’m testing rifles most days and doing load development for same, but I invariably learn something useful, every time I watch your videos so please keep informing 😀
It's your channel, Erik. And it's great and you do a terrific job and share awesome content. THANK YOU for being completely open and candid! Keep it coming. Do what you love, and love what you do. Best,
Enjoy your videos immensely; I use a Vertex Bench-Source with multiple Tempilaq temp indicating paints. Faith-Family-Job-Hobbies, in that order. Best of luck with your health.
I watched your other channel long before this one and you seemed like a nice hardworking man. When I discovered that you liked pews it made things even better. I’ll be watching whatever you decide to do.
One of the things that comes through to me is your genuine interest in helping other shooters improve. I am amazed by the “armchair experts” who challenge your results proven advice. I am glad you don’t let them get to you. Because you seem truly interested in helping me, I would appreciate the opportunity to get to know you better, so I am more than happy to hear a bit about what’s going on with you to get a more complete picture of what goes into becoming a top shooter. I still want to get as much info from you about how to shoot well as I can, but I’m not worried about you turning the channel into a soap opera. Thanks for whatever you care to share.
Do what you want, after watching alot of your videos and learning your personality and trust your advise your becoming more of a friend and I know I'm not the only one. So if you want to share im sure all your friends will enjoy it.
Thank you Erik for all your great information and videos. Personally I vote for you to share with us anything you want. I have seen a few of your work videos and enjoy them too. Good luck with your upcoming competition and get some rest!!
You do a great job and give good, solid, truthful information in your videos. I've followed you/subscribed since the beginning. I would like to see more of your life, how you mix your successful business, your family life and your shooting "hobby". Take care of yourself first. Thanks.
I think it's great to get to know you. I really enjoy your "This is what I do, you try it and see if it works for you" approach. Too many shooting pundits are "my way or the highway" with their lectures. Your recent video on Lasik was a good one, as vision is a problem that will affect all of us if we live long enough. But no hemorrhoid videos please. As for time, I'm retired so I always have manana--or maybe not.
well if you can get it to work for you that's awesome. never had confidence in my skagits ballistics annealer. I bought the AMP annealer and have had great results. My wallet on the other hand is having a bitt of trouble recovering though
I couldn’t get consistent results from my gas annealer & I also bought the AMP machine, I haven’t looked back. The fact that I can set up & get repeatable results time after time with confidence, far outweighed the cost.
Eric, thank you for sharing. We understand you can't give up everything as a competition shooter. When I first started loading and plinking we did not know about annealing. Take care.
Eric this is probably the best video you have put out and that’s coming from a master class highpower shooter. No question about it, it’s not a gimmie you have to put in the work regardless of the discipline. All the best !
hi from australia, sharing knowledge with the ones who do not know, i think is a priority, it shows ericis caring about the pasion of shooting.maybe time to slow down mate, and start enjoying shooting more, you have nothing to prove, we know you have great skills. i was struck down ill at age 26, life was over, no work, no house, no stuff all, 55 now, i have kids andgrandkids luckily. just enjoy what you can, never complain about work, guys just be lucky and thankful you can work always people worse off. you dont understand what there is too loose until you loose it. hope you get over whatever it is you have mate.
Give us the whole picture Erik! I think we all look forward to seeing what it really takes. The highs, the lows and the real life view. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us trying to get a leg up! The relentless struggle of all of us trying to get consistent group no matter what the distance keeps us all up :)
Erik, found ya thru Matt, All of this is called LIFE, it may suck sometimes, it may not fit what we would like it to be but we learn to roll with the punches brother..... Everybody LOVES to send it, weather it be a handgun, rifle, shotgun or a bow. You keep Chootin Brother .....
Erik, you seem like a great guy, great family man. You work hard and enjoy sharing your knowledge that we all appreciate very much. Share what you want but please be careful. I hope and pray you are well and your family too. When you said, high level shooting is not something you luck into, you said a mouthful. It takes money and time as well as dedication. If there is any luck it’s getting help from the right people like you.
Man I appreciate all the info you have given us. I'd be very careful sharing the personal info cause there are alot of crazies out there. Thank you for all the helpful info. If you can share any info on whether or not salt bath annealing works that would be awesome.
First i truly hope all is well with you and your family. Love the videos appreciate the honesty and directness of them. Would love to hear the personnel side of being a Pro Shooter gives true insight into what it takes to do what you do at that level. Sometimes I think people see theses types of videos and are left wondering how do they do this an that and still work or how they afford certain things there showing. Keep up the great work.
I'm a retired gass passer who also shoots with glasses. Ask yourself the question " Have I met any Ophthalmologist who have had Lasik?" At the same time the tech is mature and if the facility is reasonable, go ahead.
Amen to the weekly tags. Im just getting over a heart attack that cost me my last two matches of the season. Mr. Cortina my issue is where were you 5 years ago when I built my first bench rest rifle and started seriously reloading. You could have saved a lot of money. I have tried to cut every corner I could to get results and every time I end up doing exactly what you say do. Thanks for great info. It is so helpful to the long range community.
You do what you feel Erik love your videos man I’m a pistol guy but watching ur videos actually got me more interested into rifles now would like to do some competition shooting for long range
Erik, I appreciate your content on YT and Patreon. If you feel comfortable sharing more about yourself, do so. I know I'm a newbie to the reloading game, but balancing this hobby and life is a real thing! Lol most of my reloading is done after 8pm...
Share what you feel comfortable sharing! Those of us subscribed to your channel will most likely follow you whether you share personal info or not. I am here from Matt’s channel and staying for the quality information on shooting long distance.
As a shooter in the UK I certainly enjoy your videos. Whilst the central theme of them is naturally shooting related (and they don’t in a way have to go any further than that) but all sportsmen have to contend with the pressures & pleasures of normal life so it’s interesting to see how others cope with them & balance it all out - or not as the case may be; plus shooters tend to have a certain empathy for like minded people.
Personal stuff would be fine Erik. I hope you are well. I know all about hospital stuff after being in one with brain cancer for a few months. My memory is shot from a handful of brain surgeries. Just getting a little personal myself man.
I highly enjoyed the build videos with Demo Matt! Had no idea you were a pro shooter, or shooter at all, until I saw your video with him on the range talkin bout it. So now I'm ready for the annealing video. On the other side, I believe alot of us would love to see more of the preparation or what it takes type videos. From my point of view, stay at home dad that loves firearms, shooting and just the whole idea of the sport that dreams of taking it to another level but don't kno exactly what it takes and isn't in a place in life to b able to take it there, these videos give me the first person look. And I enjoy it. So if u happen to read this, I believe u got a great channel and im interested in seeing more. Waitin on you, Matt and that dueling tree!
Thanks for the videos and we are over the 3K mark so another video is in store!!!! As far as your personal life, tell as much or little as you care to. Your call!!!!!
Prayers for your health brother! Between this channel, and the barndo channel, I can't imagine how busy you are. That being said, I might suggest a third channel of "Just Erik". It's like "a day in the life of..." type channel. If that makes sense. That way, you can guide your shooter fans there, and your barndo fans there, and we can all meet in the middle and 'chat' with the real Erik. Also, if you get personal on one channel, but not the other, you'll fret over whether or not your other fans "need to know".
Go Erik! I've lately been collecting all too many of those wristbands myself. I've had to give up competition, but I still "play" with friends on my "back 40" range, and still have a little time and energy for other hobbies, so even now, life is good, if subdued a bit. I'm building an induction heating annealer myself for grins, and would love to see your take on it all. Nothing wrong - or avoidable - about being human. Share what you want to share. We're there for ya. You say a lot of true things, stuff I've lived a long time by myself - everything that's worth it - are things you've earned; the free, or luck, is worth what you put in - nothing. When you go places some of us no longer can, we can at least enjoy your success vicariously, and we thank you.
I feel you don't owe me a explanation about your personal life or anything for that matter but I appreciate any information shooting wise from one of the top shooters in the world thank you
I feel as though you should share what you feel is correct for you. I’m a fan of your content and respect the information you share. Also thank you for the Tuner. Me and my old man currently have our barrels are Kelblys getting them threaded on.
We all like you otherwise we would not subscribe and watch every video. I enjoy the learning of process and that includes you too. Have watched all and I get personality. So you sir continue to be you and say what every you want to. Just keep making videos please. Cheers
A. I hope you're ok
B. You ARE a professional shooter to all of us.
C. We have learned from every video you have made and love it!

i feel the exact same way.My go to guy for good reliable information! and can back up the good, bad, and the ugly. lol
Yep, honest, and straight information, backed up by measured performance.
I support whatever decision you make. I am here to learn what you have to teach. Good and bad. You earned my respect when you made a mistake and owned it. I hope you heal quickly and completely.

I too agree with Luke,

I can't say it any better D. Haun
Absolutely we want the full picture of what is going on with you.

Great video Erik
Large majority of folks have no idea of the Work/sacrifice that goes into load development/prep for Competition Shooting.
It's one of the reasons I watch your channel. You share day to day stuff in your life and I learn so much. Great context. Thank you
Your decision, sometimes sharing helps. Personally, still coping with putting down our 16 year old sheltie Tuesday night. Dealing with upset wife and son... But life continues.

I do like the full picture. The work it takes and the life you have to work around to be top level. It’s never as easy as it looks!
The technical aspect you share fantastic, both here and when you show your day job( where I first saw you ). I can relate to the need to put in the time to make it work. For those who think this doesn't compare, the equipment cost may be nearly the same-$2500-5000 scopes and the same or more for the rifle just to be in the game. But YOU still have to put in the time. Thanks so much for sharing and best wishes for your health!
Prayers from Eastern Oregon 🙏... I enjoy learning all I can from your videos and appreciate your quality of content and advice...
You keep doing what your doing Eric. Your videos are fun to watch and you're easy to listen to, no matter what the subject, and I've learned a lot from you. If you want to share your life, we'll watch, if not, we'll still watch. I'd even watch a video of you watering a plant......twice :)
Re-entering firearms into my life and im happy I found your channel - from my own experience - couldnt agree with you more. good advice - being good at anything takes time that others wont put in
Thank you for your time and for sharing your expertise. More would be welcome.
Prayers and Blessings Erik for you and your family. Keep it in the 10 Ring.
God’s blessings to you, brother! Share as you will. Love your messaging on working hard.
I’ve shared some of your building videos, where you talk about hard work, with a few spoiled millennials whom need that message.
Thank you for your time and information. Doing is power and you are a doer. Go with your gut, only you knows what is best for you.
Absolutely! Tell us what you got going on man, vent a little. But first go get some rest.
Straight forward honest advice. Not too many people will tell you what it takes to be #1. Thank you!
I think everyone would love to hear about your family and life. My Grandfather always told me if there was a will there was a way but most people would not pay the price.
Would love to see your work on annealing.
I appreciate you wanting to be transparent about your life.
CAE
You are the BEST! I have learned so much from your video’s. Hope all your GROUPS ARE ONE HOLE!
Thanks for sharing Erik. I had a colonoscopy yesterday, and I got was a couple cheap bracelets and a pair of crummy socks!
Best,
Thanks for all the videos lately.
Your awesome and I think everyone in the gun community appreciates all the valuable information you share with us. I also anneal after every firing.
Prayers to you and your family.
Do what you want, after watching alot of your videos and learning your personality and trust your advise your becoming more of a friend and I know I'm not the only one. So if you want to share im sure all your friends will enjoy it.
I love to watch your videos but rather you to take care of yourself first! I have no problem with that! Looking forward to your annealing video!
Love your videos. Honest, real talk. No puffery, no bs. You earned my sub!
Yes please! There is so much misinformation out there on this process. Thanks for all you do for the shooting community!
well if you can get it to work for you that's awesome. never had confidence in my skagits ballistics annealer. I bought the AMP annealer and have had great results. My wallet on the other hand is having a bitt of trouble recovering though
same here. Did gas annealing, was inconsistent. AMP the tension and loading pressure is spot on......but the $$$$$$ ouch
I couldn’t get consistent results from my gas annealer & I also bought the AMP machine, I haven’t looked back. The fact that I can set up & get repeatable results time after time with confidence, far outweighed the cost.
AMP was the best investment in my reloading room
Hope you get better. As we get older things pop up. I do need an anealing machine. I had tried to cobble one up it sucked. Love both your channels.
All the best !
hi from australia, sharing knowledge with the ones who do not know, i think is a priority, it shows ericis caring about the pasion of shooting.maybe time to slow down mate, and start enjoying shooting more, you have nothing to prove, we know you have great skills.
i was struck down ill at age 26, life was over, no work, no house, no stuff all, 55 now, i have kids andgrandkids luckily.
just enjoy what you can, never complain about work, guys just be lucky and thankful you can work
always people worse off.
you dont understand what there is too loose until you loose it.
hope you get over whatever it is you have mate.
I'd love to see more of your life (as long as it doesn't displace all the shooting stuff). Also, congratulations on the baby!
Eric we wish you well. Like Luke said tell as much as you feel you need to. I love the content you bring to the channel.
I'm a retired gass passer who also shoots with glasses. Ask yourself the question " Have I met any Ophthalmologist who have had Lasik?"
At the same time the tech is mature and if the facility is reasonable, go ahead.
Annealing is a foreign concept to many. I would love to see a video on the subject. Thanks for everything you share to help us get better.
Erik,
I appreciate your content on YT and Patreon.
I recently became aware of your channel and I truly appreciate your videos, insight, tips, and honesty
Thank you.
Blew away the 3k like mark! You got well over 4k likes today as of Friday! We love your content!
We all like you otherwise we would not subscribe and watch every video. I enjoy the learning of process and that includes you too. Have watched all and I get personality. So you sir continue to be you and say what every you want to. Just keep making videos please. Cheers
