By keeping the weeds cut back 20 to 25 feet away from the cabin will cut down on the bugs/flies. Use pallets in the shelter to set stuff on. Yes, you'll have to bring out the pallets, but it would be good. There are screen tents. Some are small and may fit.?? You could build the deck/porch out where the stairs are now. By moving the stairs off to the side, under the window by the stove, you would have a nice space for a screen tent and the swing. Glad to see you back. Thanks for sharing. God bless and protect.

Hey I haven't seen the two of you on here for a while. Great to see you both again enjoying the outdoors and cooking together. I am hoping that the hot weather that is going on around the world is not keeping you from making videos for all of us. Stay safe and keep having fun together. Love to Willow and June Bug!.

I have the same setup where I built a screened in, 7 x 9 ft. porch on the end of our deck. I went right to the existing ceiling with the walls as it saves a lot of work and it looks better. I left room between the deck railing and the structure for ease in access. You'll also appreciate that when installing the screen. I used 2x4's for the frame. Best to look on UA-cam for ideas. We're on a homestead here and I built this for my wife who loves it and uses it all the time and it looks good. I covered the stapled screen with wood trim painted white. I put plywood over the deck floor and covered it with indoor/outdoor carpet. About $500 dollars total including a screen door and hardware.

Something you could do for the screening is to line the deck, but make it big sliding panels across the front. so that you’re not trying to get around the rectangle you’re planning.

Definitely need to clean up the brush all around the cabin and work on your pathway to the road. That would make lots of video footage. And everything would look so much better.

Nice to see you back. I was watching you working in your yard. When I lived up North before retiring to Florida I would always work in my yard during early fall through early winter. No bugs and during that time it made working in the yard easier and better. You have a nice cabin, when you get your yard together it’s going to be beautiful especially with the lake. I took down your recipe of the nachos. Looked delicious. I love seeing you, City Girl, Junebug and Willow. Thanks for sharing you Guys were missed🐞👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🐞

Yay, Russell and Alicia are back! It's so good to see your smiling faces!
I wonder if the tire got dry rot? Even if they're low mileage, if they're 5-6 years old, they could get it just from sitting, sun, etc. I couldn't see any on the others, but you need to look quite closely, especially with that large tread. Mine are starting to get it. There are sealant products by Armor All, etc, that claim to delay or prevent this, but I dunno.
I also had AC issues with my 2016 Honda. The new Freon is hard on components, and my compressor was shot with only 30,000 miles. I was trying to save up the $1600 but Honda finally did a Recall. So I too, was bumming around a nearby town waiting for my install and recharge. I spent a few lovely hours at a lake park. It was a beautiful day, luckily not too hot. Then it rained out of nowhere, and I missed the bus. So the Courtesy Driver gave me a lift to The Texas Roadhouse, where I had some baby back ribs and steak fries. All in all it was a pretty pleasant morning and afternoon.
So looks like we're going through the same things. 😃
The new chair truly does look "just right" for little Goldilocks/Alicia. She can sit in it for BF and CC, eh? Good luck in your hunt for a Big Person Chair.
Maybe a tent style screen room would fit around the porch swing, if it wouldn't hit the porch roof? They're pretty reasonable at Walmart, etc.
Shine bright in the pea soup, and enjoy Booxing.

I went to the Ford dealership in Madoc when I had a flat on my truck going into my camp. Good service. Nice lady behind the counter. By the way Russell, that Ford dealership couldn't do ATV tire work for me as they don't have the proper equipment so they sent me to a small shop on the east side of Madoc. Things to remember if in need. Loved the walking tour of Madoc. Know that LCBO well. Should have stopped at the micro brewery just south of the Ford dealership. Great video.

The garden looks fantastic. I must say your kitchen is beautiful. You did great job Russell. I wanted to mention that on your quest to lose weight you might want to cut down on your sodium intake as it retains fluid. My husband was shocked when we read the labels and tracked how much sodium we were innocently eating without adding table salt when we sat at the table. We loved Stag chili too, but when I read the label and saw the sodium count, I was astonished in the amount of salt it has and other canned and boxed prepared foods we eat. When we stopped and started making our own chili etc from scratch, we eliminated the salt and we both lost a lot of fluid weight. Good for the heart. Challenge yourself and add up the sodium content of what you eat daily and you will be very surprised. Just trying to make you aware, as you are doing all the right things with your exercise and outdoor activities to get into shape. If you want the salt taste try potassium salt substitute. It tastes just like salt and is actually good for you. You sure know how to pack that 4 wheeler. Getting a new chair is like getting a new pair of shoes. They have to be broken in. It is a nice chair with some very nice features. Your strawberry plants look so healthy and seem to be great producers. You must be so excited about your new shop. Screened in room around the swing is a great idea or just by a screened in gazebo to put there. There are some reasonable priced screened in gazebos on Amazon. Price comparison it may be cheaper to buy one that size. Have fun with your projects and enjoy your beautiful paradise.

Nice to see a video again!!!! I am not sure that box over the swing would be good...what about some kind of netting like you would put over a bed...that would be easily removed ...but not a white one...there are a bunch on Amazon when I searched for mosquito netting for porch. So happy there will be a Booxefest!! See you then!

CG, nice trellis, but bad mosquito net. lol Garden looks great. YAY!
Russell, are you on medication? I ask because I was on two years ago, which caused me to always overheat and sweat even during cool weather. Then I requested going off those meds, and did, and was again back to normal with no overheating or excessive sweating.
If you enclose the porch swing itself, won't that prevent CG from rocking in it? What about building something off the porch, right next to it, a special swing room? Big enough to actually swing in it? Sorry if that was a totally silly idea. Maybe if you fine-screen the floor beneath it, and then just have a draping bug mesh all around it... something that can be removed when necessary... though would have to adjust it each time CG sat down on the swing, but would keep out bugs without having to build something more permanent? Dunno. The problem is having a swing and needing to be able to walk freely along the porch. It'll be fun to see what you figure out.
Strawberries look like they could use more water and more frequently so as to get more berries and larger juicier ones. I've grown them in previous homes. Nothing tastier than a fresh strawberry. But the dang birds and rodents would not leave them alone!

Hang it from a couple of hooks from the ceiling. Use a dowel to support the netting . Screw some eye hooks into the dowel. Just a brainthinken.🙂👍👍

The extra plants coming off the strawberries are called runners. You should clip them away from the main plant and you will have a plus one. It's better for the health of the main plant to take them off too.

    Two things:
    1. screened porches are not confining, they add to your overall living space
    2. Invest in a good strimmer and go to town on all the deep vegetation around the front of the cabin. Nothings says bug habitat like stagnant water, and nearby thick vegetation.
    Cheers to you both.
