......but whether or not it's recommended for migraine, or whatever type pain, when ALL options have been tried and failed, it's inhumane and against the Hippocratic oath for the physician to just give up, and say you learn to live with it, after all, my license is at stake. So is the patients life and quality of life. Too many providers, thanks to current political climate, especially in ER settings, think the pt is drug seeking, rather than considering the patient is pain Relief seeking.
Right now here in Ireland, we've GPs who are shit scared of things in much the same way as they are in the US which I, perhaps inelegantly, phrased as "America sneezes and Ireland's afraid to catch a cold." I hear it's like this in the UK but I'm not 100% on that. This behaviour that they've taken on will actively push the black market on to deliver these medicines/drugs and lead otherwise normal people down to asking if someone they know knows a dealer can help them find whatever (insert pain med here) at largely inflated sums. It's unconscionable. I've been threatened with being taken off two bits of medication - one of which the hospital prescribed (and the GP in separate building objected to) and the other due to this whole scare. This is where you know damn well they're more afraid of having their God complex taken away than doing what they are supposed to - treat the bloody patient!
I have a colleague who went through severe withdrawal when he tried to.come.off tramadol

Pain is PAIN! I dont care gabapentin is not a pain med. I'd rather be addicted to pain meds than the shit that in benzodiazepines
running the MOUTH makes the pain worse !
"Eckspecially"????
That’s what you got out of this?
This guy obviously is a republican who never had physical pain this isn’t one size fits all
Unfortunately, these are the kind of people we have to put our faith in when we seek help.
Political brained minds.. I swear. I’m a conservative and I promote pain medication. Calm down people.
