Gran Turismo 5 - Playthrough Part 13 - Jeff Gordon NASCAR School - All Gold Medals!

Gran Turismo 7 has now been released but I still want to continue my playthroughs of all the previous GT games as well, so that I will eventually have 100% completion in all of them. Here you can see me completing the Jeff Gordon NASCAR School special event in Gran Turismo 5 with all gold medals.

Gran Turismo has always been one of my favorite racing game franchises and I played the first 3 games of the series when they first came out. After that I moved to PC though, so I never got to play GT 4-6 when they were new. Now around the release of GT7 I want to revisit GT 1-3 and also play through GT 4-6 for the first time, recording full playthroughs of all 6 original games.
In this video I am doing the Jeff Gordon NASCAR School special event in GT5, which consists of a variety of lessons and challenges on the Daytona and Indianapolis oval speedways.
After an introduction to drafting you learn how to take the corners on both tracks low and high and then you apply this new knowledge in some overtake challenges over 1-2 laps.
The last two challenges actually took me quite a few tries, since you get disqualified for most collisions.
Completing this special event unlocks the oval tracks for arcade mode, which will be useful for one of my upcoming compilation videos.
In my next GT5 video I might complete another one of the special events.

Theres a setting for the car idk how its called but if you turn it off you can win it

Surprised the racing wasn’t modeled with restrictor plates to slow the cars down to roughly 290-300 kph give or take, but it’s also not a purpose built NASCAR title.
Running on the high side would be especially important in racing like that.
