Not sure if you guys cares but if you are bored like me atm then you can watch pretty much all of the latest series on Instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my gf for the last couple of months =)
Olivia Elston Newsies was in the original evolution video (which has since been copyright claimed and removed) and I didn’t want them to be the same each time so I chose not to include it in this one. It is in the newest one on my channel though.
Seriously, not Bring Him Home from Les Miserables?Or even Empty Chairs at Empty tables? Instead just the beginning of one of the big chorus numbers?????
I concur about Passion often getting overlooked. The fact is it was overlooked by the public also. I think it holds the dubious distinction of being the Best Musical winner with the shortest run.
I really appreciate you for putting Big River here. Literally, It never gets the credit it deserves, it's such a good take on a classic book that really deserves a revival in 2020.
Jenny Hanrahan I tried to go with original production dates for as many that had them, some of them I had to make a judgement call (ie. a couple of earlier productions used some songs from the 1957 Cinderella film, but 2013 was the biggest, and the one to flesh out the score into a full length show)
"As many that had them?" All shows have an original production date (though I'd have used the date the the song used in the clip was written instead) But Seven Brides and Singin' in the Rain in the 1980's? Really? Especially when you used the 1950's movie clip for Seven Brides. Have some consistency in the dating at least, or leave out dates completely and organize the video in a different way.
Anthropos Anthropos I’m really sorry about that! The editing software I was using at this point didn’t really allow for any kind of audio sync, and then obviously the varying age/quality of clips means there are serious discrepancies
I was surprised at the choice for Hamilton. "What'd I Miss" is a fun number for sure but not nearly on a caliber (IMO) as "Wait For It." Honestly "You'll Be Back" would have been a good choice as well.
Speaking of Wait For It, I volunteered to do that one for my school's MT Show, since an entire class doing Waving Through A Window obviously won't suffice. Also not sure why my chorus teacher chose that over You Will Be Found other than maybe popularity sake.
My shot! That was the song that hooked me! But I LOOOOOOOVE the way Daveed dances this number! His feet barely touch the ground! I think, visually, it did what they wanted.
Another excellent list. Same notes as on your Female Solos list: You Can't Win was not in the stage production of The Wiz. Some of your citations for the year are a little off. Millie didn't open on Broadway until 2002; Best Musical that year in fact. Wicked and Avenue Q both opened in 2003. And lastly, as much as I love JRB AND TL5Y it hasn't had a Broadway run. Once again though fantastic offering. Keep em coming.

21:16 minor problem... it may be a new take on the show by ALW... But I remember seeing a production of this in phoenix that was originally at Madison Square Garden... Mickey Rooney as the wizard (most notably as santa in Santa claus is coming to town AND the year without a santa claus) and JoAnne Worley as the wicked witch(regular on comedy laugh in, was the wardrobe in beauty and the beast, and most recent of all... NANA BANANA from Jessie!) ALL (if not most) of the effects were practical (yes... EVEN THE TORNADO!!!) You can find bootlegs if you type wizard of oz MSG and you wont be disappointed!

Yes. One of several actors from Greg Berlanti's shows which are usually referred to as the Arrow verse (but which I personally call the Berlanti-verse) who have musical theater backgrounds. And yes I know you were referring to Arthur's time aboard the TARDIS but he was also on Legends of Tomorrow. I got a kick out of that since he arguably was already familiar with time travel. Its amazing how many actors from his shows have musical backgrounds though. The "Duet" episode of the Supergirl/The Flash crossover was packed to the brim with at least 2 of them having Tony nominations (Jeremy Jordan and Victor Garber). Laura Benanti who played Kara Zorn-El's mother the first 2 seasons of Supergirl has won one. Berlanti is a self proclaimed musical geek so perhaps not a surprise.
It is so interesting how few new memorable songs appear here. Yes they are loud and intense and deeply meaningful, but ultimately, there are few I care about in the recent contributions. Book of Mormon and Something Rotten are appealing but so many of the other modern shows are boring - this from a musical fan.
okay I do have to nitpick that Dreamer in Disguise wasn't used in the 1988 production of Carrie, it WAS however featured in the 1984 workshop so you're not totally off. It just wasn't officially in the show until the 2012 revival.
I love “Edelweiss,” “You’ve Got to Pick a Pocket or Two,” “Mr. Cellophane,” “Singing in the Rain,” “One Song Glory,” “Purpose,” “If I Only Had a Brain,” & “What Did I Miss?” I’d love to see Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Next to Normal, The Book of Mormon, Kinky Boots & Dear Evan Hansen. I’m seeing Cats on Friday with a friend. Although I saw Les Mis in London 9 years ago, my more recent association of “Do You Hear the People Sing?” is from Orange is the New Black.
Does anyone mention that these songs are really out of order? Rent was released in the early 80's but doesn't show up until the 90's. Mama Mia is from the 70's but shows up in the late 90's. If you wanted to do an evolution, you should do them in order chronologically because otherwise, you are just putting these musicals in random order according to some weird timeline you have.

very interesting way of dating some of these musicals (i.e. 2013 for cinderella instead of 1957 and loads more of them)
Jenny Hanrahan I tried to go with original production dates for as many that had them, some of them I had to make a judgement call (ie. a couple of earlier productions used some songs from the 1957 Cinderella film, but 2013 was the biggest, and the one to flesh out the score into a full length show)

I think what they all mean to say is " thank you so much for spending tons of hours putting this video together for our enjoyment"
Oh man, the volume needs to be synced across these clips. I had to turn it way up and then almost blew out my eardrums on beauty and the beast ow!
