Brain damage and trauma can absolutely hobble a person's ability to function academically and socially and emotionally. I sincerely hope that he is able to recover fully, but I think it'll be a difficult journey.

The neighbors are also terrible because they refused to help a child in trouble! Even the person who helped him had him kneel on the ground at gun point. It’s so sad that he was forced to go through a traumatic experience. I hope therapy can help him deal with burdens these events gave him.

A neighbor knocked on my door late last night. I answered with rugged clothes on and my hair wild. We ended up knocking on other neighbors doors at 12am because our complex was flooding. Some answered while others were hesitant. The ones that were hesitant at first, were thankful after we informed them of what's was going on.

What's more disgusting is the fact that after he was shot it took him another several minutes to find someone in the surrounding area that would help him, even though there were other homes he went to just to get some help but no one would.

Burglars ring doorbells and knock all the time. They want to see if anyone is home. In fact there are ring videos showing you one person knocks, say they have car trouble, then when you open the door, a few more people out of view jump up and rush you. In that video police said never open the door to someone you don’t know. Often what they do is get a female to do the knocking, and then a few guys jump out.

The other user is correct-burglars _do_ ring doorbells in order to determine if people are home. Regardless, what that man did to this teenager is *completely* unacceptable. If that man thought he was getting burgled, then he could have called the police or yelled through the closed door. He can’t really follow shows, news anymore, no interest in reading the paper, repeats the same questions over and over. I think this case should be more about how old is too old to have fire arms? Should there be ongoing exams/clearances to pass…like having to retake the drivers test at a certain age? Probably not a popular stance for politicians, as older people vote….

For the shooters attorney to file an order to partially seal the case is just wrong. Like they said, transparency is key. We are tired of these cases, they need to stop. We need as much transparency as possible into all of it. I hope justice is served and this amazing young man can continue to heal.

Very clear this young man did not pose any type of threat. This was clearly attempted MURDER! 4 days to bring charges but the mother and son was charged within 5 minutes smh.

I'm so glad to see him doing so well.
I remember an article or something saying how he was in shock and just kind of stares blankly. His eyes here seem lifeless recounting the event. I hope he can heal. I'm so hurt that this happened to him. At 5:00 he sparks up talking about he's gonna do what he likes and his best to move one.

What an amazing, intelligent, well-mannered young man and wonderful mother and family my heart goes out to such a sweet soul. This young man should have never had to deal with this type of truma.
Unfortunately, because of an old ugly racist he did. I hope the system doesn't fail this young man like it has so many others in the past.

Thought he was a burglar? Why answer the door!? Would be my main question. Could have stayed on the house and called police if you’re that concerned as a senior. Unacceptable excuse.

I honestly feel sorry for Ralph cause he endured such devastating heartache and traumatizing pain in such a short time...for crying 😭 out loud the young man is only 17...for heaven's sake...his entire life has literally been CHANGED and quite frankly turned upside DOWN 🤢 ...it's literally gonna take some time, some healings and some prayer's 🙏 before this young man can EVEN fully recover my heart❤️ is with you Ralph Yarl..
