Just moved to New Market in the Lake Linganore area, all around a lot of the new townhouses going up. It's plain to see that there are progressions for way more development, it's already happening. I was riding my bike through some trails not long ago and two kids walking the trail told me that they were bummed that that area is going to become Howard County (because of the obvious development). It shocked me, as they were probably about 15, and the fact that even THEY were disturbed of becoming Horrid County (I just moved from there, hated that area). I guess I might have to keep moving westward at some point.

You have The Hamptons East Creekside and Westridge being developed now. Townhouses and sf homes. The growth along 75 is just getting started

They really need to widen 270 at the 40 interchange, that's where most of the traffic comes from. Either that or have some alternate high speed highway that cuts across the east side of town so that people can go around a different way. So long as they can sort that out, and maybe get some better rail access from Frederick down to Montgomery County, I don't think growth is too big a concern.

Frederick has been a Hot area for years, as it is a straight shot down to the DC/495 area on the expressway. ( Route 270 S. )

It’s really the farthest north that makes sense to commute from. Hagerstown is just too much of a drive

I am definitely about growth , and honestly I have mixed feelings, Frederick is such a beautiful charming area, with very nice people. I get worried when folks, more specifically, folks from Montgomery County that come this way with very rude attitudes, now I know thats not fair to say because I am piling up one group, that being said, Frederick needs to build the infrastructure to accommodate all these people, and build more schools to keep up with the over crowding, it's also worth mentioning, with more people comes more crime, so to get more police officers in the streets would be great! Just my Opinion.

At this point, Frederick is just an expansion of Gaithersburg/ Germantown. I don't even hear the 'Frederick' country accent like I used to back in the late 90's when I first moved here. A lot of the complainers are the ones who moved to Frederick and thought the building would stop when they moved in. But a lot of these projects have been on the books for a good 10 years or so, and they're just now starting to come out of the planning stages and breaking ground.

The schools are becoming too overcrowded; facilities and resources should be built before approving additional settlements.

I agree, you need the proper facilities in place along the way. Playing catch up is difficult to do.

Schools and roads have always been the achilles heel for Frederick. No one seems to have future vision... where to put schools and roads. It's always catch up. Developers should be required to include plans for additional school capacity and road expansion. Then county planners don't have to spend tons of taxpayers' money figuring out a fix that is too late and will be costly.

@@brianbowman8055 I like to read the development plans that are submitted to the Fred. Co. Planning Commission and it always appears that funds and areas are allocated for schools. So it is accounted for BUT that doesn't mean the schools themselves will be built right away. Thanks for your comment!
