Thanks for sharing your thoughts Adam. I certainly resonate with the local angle of showing your own hometown, culture, places, and more. To more Copenhagen videos!
Adam, I think it's a great idea to focus mostly on Denmark and other Scandinavian countries. I haven't seen any other UA-camrs who specialize in these places, so you could probably really carve out a nice niche for yourself here on UA-cam. Plus from a financial standpoint, the ad rates are going to be better since the purchasing power in those countries is much higher. I look forward to seeing what you come up with next.
So interesting to see what happened with your Copenhagen video. I'm always shocked when a video starts with lousy views and then UA-cam starts recommending it and the views take off! 🤔 You are SO RIGHT about the rewards of having a video that will do well in search and have longevity. I've had that happen with a couple videos over 4 years.
That's a great insight. Travel niche is actually very competitive in my opinion. And only those UA-camrs, that actually go somewhere, talk to locals, and give their audience a real experience of the place, make it big.
Great video. I'm just starting out making travel vlogs. My focus is going to be cruises....not sure how it will go. I'm at 250 subscribers after my first cruise vlog. Your video has made me more realistic ...thanks for the great content. I never thought about the money from Asia videos paying less....so informative
I have many friends who are full-time travel vloggers and travel all over the world... and they said the same thing about getting lots of views in certain countries from residence of that country, but those subscribers don't stay with you and keep watching as you then move onto the next country. My situation is different because my channel is focused on the UK. Most of my subscribers are British, and certainly if I do go to other countries and publish videos of those travels, I get lousy views. But, those are the videos I'm doing for myself.😉
That's good, I think the UA-cam travel space is definitely a tough nut to crack due to the fact that there are now so many people trying to cover this niche on their channels.
Nice to see someone actually share the numbers showcasing how much someone, who actually makes good quality videos can earn with travel vlogging. Sure, some make more, but I am guessing the majority makes less. I am guessing after paying taxes in Denmark you get to keep around 1000 USD for 9 months of work, which would be roughly earning 4 USD a day (without including the cost of equipment, airplane tickets, Airbnb, food etc.)? My question would be: "How much savings do you need to become a full-time travel vlogger earning 49 cents an hour?" Honestly, wouldn`t it just be so much better to simply travel and enjoy discovering new places, instead of doing this as a job, that pays 4 times less per hour than a minimum wage job in Indonesia for example?
Hard to say, I think. As it'll really depend on the audience who's watching and for how long etc. My rpm is around $8-9. But I have some videos with rpms around $20 and some where it's like $2-3.

Thanks, Joe! This is exactly the plan, and what I had found as well. Thanks a lot for watching :)
I think you're doing great!
The travel niche is SUPER competitive and travel vlogs take WAAAAAY more time to create and edit than a normal video!
Learning what kind of video YOU like to make is key. Good for you 👍

Great advice. Thank you!!
Really enjoy the transparency of your channel. Happened to find you from one of those viral videos and really see your channel growing in time!
Glad to hear it. Thanks a lot, Don!
Great video, thank you for sharing your realistic numbers. We also had a video with more than 1 mio. views which monetized our channel 😊
That's awesome guys, congrats! Thanks for watching :)
Changing of audiences from location to location is an interesting insight. Makes sense. Thanks. 👍
