  • Here's me, performing a live piano arrangement of the title track "Lara Croft Overture" from my soundtrack to Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris! I wrote the original soundtrack as a loveletter to 80s and 90s action-adventure movie scores, and so the title theme follows that melodic adventure paradigm. You can get the full Lara Croft soundtrack at / lctoo

    Damn, why so less views?!
The main part in the song, you hit it! 0:42 that, is in my eyes religion!

This performance and the piece featured in the OST are very well done! It is a new kind of sound for me and I hope to see some cool stuff in the future.

Love this! It's really cool to see you play it on piano. Stripped down, it's just as beautiful and effective as fully orchestrated - that's a sign of a strong composition. :) Love that Mixolydian b6 melody. :D

    Hey Wilbert,
I don't know if you have time to answer this, but i love this theme and i would like to make a cover with the instruments i have, but im not sure if i have figured out the chords yet.
I can see a lot from your playing but not all^^
so it is in e mixob6, and you start with e without 3rd, then e augmented, and then its d-e-a which is a dsus2.
    then C,D,E.
and you use that dsus2 later also, and i ask myself why do you use it or how did you get the idea to use it?
and why did you use C? it is not in the chords from e mixob6. is it to get that lydian feeling from rising major chords? do you intentially use foreign chords to make it more magical? do you have a certain principal behind your thinking?
i know you don't have the piano or orchestral sheet but maybe you can help me a little bit.
i am searching for pieces to transcribe for learning harmony and orchestration and this one always comes to mind :)
you have become one of my favourite composers and i also find the interviews you gave very informative,
    thanks,
    felix

Hey Felix, first thanks so much for your kind words!! :D
About the harmonic progression, I don't think much more thought was put into it than just simply 1) desire to move the energy "forward" via the chord inversions, and 2) keeping at least one "pivot" note between chords - similar to how Debussy structured his harmonies.
And lastly, I don't have a score for this piano arrangement since I just kinda did it by ear, but here's the original orchestra score: www.dropbox.com/s/4rbypzhiukwppis/LaraCroftOverture-WilbertRoget.pdf?dl=0
      Cheers!

Ah merci! Et votre anglais n'est pas mal :-)
Alors, j'ai la partition pour l'orchestre, mais je n'ai jamais écrit une réduction pour piano - c'est simplement une improvisation
