Hi there. So I say keep going even though there might be "bruising". Technically its called petichae which is broken blood vessels, but it occurs when the fascia is restricting blood flow. In exercise you have to create micro tears in your muscle to get it to build stronger - I think this is the same concept! There is lots of evidence from studies done on cupping and gua sha that help a myriad of issues. So keep it up!
I bought an inexpensive rubber set and use these regularly on my piriformis area, hips, shoulders and neck, I glide them and let the, sit for awhile, it hurts, but feels better a couple days later.

I do cupping with Physiotherapy post surgery on my lower legs (silicone cup), it is some of the worst pain I have ever experienced. I can see the benefits, but damn is it ever painful.

That shouldn’t happen. This woman is doing the cupping the traditional way. What you can do is use first the correct (lightweight, not dense) oils (I use grapeseed oil and coconut), using a specific cup for cupping therapy (silicon, flexible, with a rim), which would be the best for at home cupping. And starting from bottom to top, going back and forth with that pressure, five minutes each part, this shouldn’t happen at all. It can bruise, it can become purple, that just means there’s stagnation and it’s improving circulation. If it’s painful, it’s working. The bruising goes away within a week. Don’t use those cupping with heat or those electronic ones, I imagine they’re not very safe. Other than that, just suck, glide, and go over a few times. Two to three times a week is good but remain consistent. Dry brush before for better results, then shower when you’re done (sometimes the oils on your lower part gets overstimulating, so it’s your call if you want to shower before the cupping; more important to just dry brush before the cupping). Staying hydrated is super important since you are promoting cellular regeneration and improved circulation. Eat clean, try some intermediate fasting (but be intuitive, listen to your body, if you’re hungry, eat!). Pilates and toning exercises help a lot. And good luck, stay safe!

I've tried digging in with fingers as well as using tennis balls. I've tried keeping them moving (elliptical & cubii jr), Nothing is working so I'm really hoping this will help. One question I have is, how long do you leave the cups on and / or gliding? I heard 10 minutes in your video, however, don't remember what that referred to and would like to get it right to hopefully relieve my achiness. One more question is, how often should this be done? How long between treatments? I had great relief from only one self cupping treatment with a silicon cup. I do not know if I have Meralgia Paresthetica or IT band syndrome or both since many years back. The skin was also to sensitive to pinch and itchy on the thigh but that just left after only one so very long and painful self cupping treatment this morning. I still get some pinprick feelings now and then but that is nothing new to my thigh. Great to finally have gotten some of those "little invaders" thrown out.
I think for me, it hurt the most the first times, however I'm seeing results and that keeps me going and ignore whatever pain I feel. I do wet cupping every other day.
Get it done by a professional first, they can help you find something that works. Maybe just don't suction as much, you can probably start slow and build up. Your fascia may be REALLY tough and sensitive.
Hey! Great video & super helpful. I have awful low back/hip/pelvic/knee/Achilles (I know weird spot) pain, sometimes calves, thighs, & low back muscles like to spasm which is fun lol. My issue is that I'm a curvy woman. My glutes & hips ALWAYS have a big cushion of fat & I've recently gained a little weight after starting a new birth control. Some people just wipe them with sanitation’s wipes that kill bacteria, viruses, etc or ones that contain at least 70% alcohol. Some soak it I barbicide first for 10 minutes, dry and then wipe down with saniwipes

Kind of - Regular massage doesn't life the fascia like this or get the same results. And this is one you can do on yourself!
