I also have the brown paper instruction paper that was held on with a small string. I'm taking it up to northern WI this weekend and plan to shoot off some of the ammo I have. I rubbed a little oil on the bolt and a swab through the barrel, which looks good. The bluing is still perfect. Thanks for the info you posted on this family of guns. My sight is a S-150. fwiw.
Old school walnut and steel! Thanks for sharing your collection and knowledge. I’m late to appreciate those old school rimfire rifles, but appreciate them I do.
Super presentation, thanks. My model 44 US is a great rendition of Mossberg's efforts in the U.S. Army's training rifle program. I purchased this rifle in 1955 for the express purpose of high school target shooting from the NRA. It was purchased by my dad, new, unused and has never let me down as far as accuracy and quality of materials used in its construction. A testament to the workmanship and skill of yesteryear's rifle making skill. It is very dear to me.
30 years ago I had a cheap Mossberg bull barrel .22 lr. My brother visited me and had a beautiful high end .22, but I forget which model. I remember he paid a lot for it. Both rifles were scoped. We made a gentlemen's bet on which rifle could out shoot the other, and went to the range. I won that bet. 🙂
The 46BB is the second gun I ever shot. I was young and it was too heavy for me. It was handed down to me and is my favorite 22 of all time. Very accurate. Very nice lines. Shoots like a dream. And shoots anything you put in it. Nice collection you have. Love them all. So we’ll made.
Thanks for sharing. Very informative. My mother-in-law gifted me her father’s Mossberg 46 M (b). It has a Mannlicher stock with metal band on the forearm.
Awesome video! I have a couple of these, so I appreciate the history. Fortunately, there are many original replacement parts. I would love to see more of your curated collection. I am sure I am not the only one.
I have the model 46B (b) this is how it is depicted on barrel have all the bells and whistles, found it new old stock preserved in cosmoline. Don't know if you realize it but the trigger is pull weight adjustable . Lots of info about 46B (b) last of the 46B series with the most available options. Love mine especially the 20 plus one capacity for long rifle, can't remember how many shorts or longs ( definitely more than 20 )
@WalnutandSteel True, I think I gave 175 for mine. It's missing the rear barrel sight but has the S-100 "swing" sight. It's missing the aperture which I need to order but shoots great without it. It also has a beautiful stock with burled grain which seems to belong on a much higher grade firearm. Fun guns. Thanks. By the way, I just took notice of your name "WalnutandSteel." I just finished reading through a couple books on vintage 22's called "Walnut and Steel." Any connection?
I enjoy your videos I have my dad’s Wards WesternField 22 , I,believe it’s a model 41 My dad bought it in 1936 or 1937 it’s a tube feed and shoot 22lr 22long and22 short , with metal trigger guard. He bought it when he was in the Civilian Conservation Corps! I’m having a problem with feeding a fresh round into the chamber it causes a jam.; if you have any Ideas or suggestions I’d to here from you maybe we can come up with a remedy for this situation! I would like to hear from you! Thanks!
Great history. I've a Mossberg 25A, .22, circa 1937, single shot bolt with same old scope. I've got a few old scopes I plan to sell, but in need of parts to help secure the trigger on a second twin model.
I used to have a couple of mossberg 22smaybe you can explain them to me. 1. It was a tube feed with a manlicher stock plastic trigger guard quick release sling swivels that were inlaid into the stock and looked factory. Barrel sight with inter changeable options. Hooded front sight with 4 different posts and a swing out peep sight behind the receiver. Semi auto very accurate. 2. Clip fed semi auto the front of the fore stock folded down 90 degrees to the stock making it into a sort of a fore grip plastic trigger guard with finger grip. I don't have them anymore but would love some history on them. Best 22s I ever had love your videos thank you
Ive got Marlin 39 39a and mounties, Winchester 69 and 69a. I think these slick little mossies would be fun to plink with as well. And their prices aren't to insane like Marlin levers to boot. Thanks for the info.
Nibs, I have the exact same model 46 with scope that you have. I just happened to take mine out for some sun, and later on check youtube, and here I am 😆👍 Edited to add, my scope still has the rubber eye guard.
I have 4 now my first was my dad's he gave me 151k i think it is . It's a mag feed with the forstock that folds down to hold. I have one that was sent to Europe at the start of WW2 for training British troops ,I'm needing a stock and magazine feed tube for, i hope 2 find the parts some day.

I will probably never sell them hopefully my who ever inherits them will have the same passion, love the 22 format my first was the grandfather's Springfield model 15. I shot so many groundhogs as a kid on a farm in Tennessee, my father gave me a marlin 60 when I was 11 still hunt with it never put a scope on it. I might have to 50 years later eye's are not like they used to be. Thanks for the memories keep up the great work
This is very interesting, THANK YOU! I just pick up a 340 KA that shows some promise to be a great shooter. Got it for my wife, but I might steal it back to drill some squirrels if it lives up to its potential.
Really appreciate the history on the Mossbergs. The firearms history is great but history of sights is interesting too. I started researching a Western Field 14 410 bolt action based on a Savage 59 which led to 59A or B & model 58. Interesting stuff. Thanks
@@WalnutandSteel Just my opinion but I think every new shooter should start with a good peep or aperture sight on a rifle & some handguns. And learn to adjust & use it properly. 🎯

Great video of some nice rifles! I bought my first rifle less than a year ago, which happens to be a Mossberg 46bb. It has the s130 peep sight with a brass bead front sight. That peep sight system is fantastic and with the heaftiness of the rifle, makes it very accurate.

Do you have any suggestions for me on my Mossberg 46M(a) which fails to fire like 40 % of the time. I have cleaned the bolt and the chamber, and areas that mate up to the bolt. When I got the gun the tube magazine was missing and I bought one that was in good shape. I am missing the front removable strap clip, but the stock has a place for the spring clip to lock into it. Not many old gunsmith’s who know these Mossys, and honestly I do not know that much about them…except I like ‘em and they are tack drivers.
