I love.
Our girl gives us a full on M O V I E. We stan.
I SO agree about your point on the historical fantasy genre: at a certain point, you have to question the desire for “historical accuracy” in a world the author technically has unlimited control over
She really blessed us with an hour video wow ty
jessreads we grateful
i would love to listen to jess host a book podcast !! i know she already does her monthly book videos, but having it in podcast form would be great for long commutes :-)
I don’t even want to think about how long it took you guys to edit this. Thank you for putting in so much effort for us! I’ve been watching you since early 2016 and it’s been such a pleasure to follow you along. Very happy you are still around, blessing us with your unique content 💓
I've been waiting for this so badly and it's one hour and seventeen minutes long? Yay! Than you Jess!
"What f* year are we in?!" I dieD 😂😂
this might be my favourite video on the internet
i was screaming mood throughout the whole book section of the video
I saw a sign outside a cafe the other day that said "It's not hoarding if it's books" and I completely agree!
Ma’am 43 books is a LOT 😂😂😂
how many hours per day do you spend reading on average? just curious!
There's a huge reading q&a on her blog where she answers this:
www.sunbeamsjess.com/blog/2019/8/19/reading-qampa
❤️
Can't wait for the updated house tour!
Jan 2020: "now I can just pop into bookshops when I want"
March: "lol no"
But we can watch this video and remember what it was like!
The Name of the Wind and The Left Hand of Darkness are some of my favorite books! I love fantasy, but I especially love Le Guinn's writing because the world building is so intentional to character and plot development rather than the other way around.
"I know it's a bit excessive, but I got very excited" is also my excuse when it comes to books hahaha ❤️
The name of the wind is literally the best you could wish for in fantasy. Not really a fantasy-reader but this series is my all time favorite and has such a special place in my heart.
Thanks for the decade of videos! Been here since the Jeffrey Campbell days. Excited to see what 2020 brings!
YAYYYY I’ve been waiting for this!! Genuinely would be so bored watching someone else’s vlogs be this long, but I’m addicted to your vids Jess!
And I thought my 15 books in 2020 was ambitious!! So inspired to read more after watching your videos. I'm actually reading second book in the His Dark Materials trilogy!
lol i am too! Saw the tv show and immediately picked up the series.
@@jessiefleming114 same! Although it's now hard to watch the series because I keep comparing it to the book XD
I’m currently on the second book too!!
So excited that this is an hour long
can you do an upload on how you decide which books to read please Jess? which reviewers/newspapers/blogs do you follow? Loved the Zak fiends clip in the pub. lovely to see you in a social environment as we never get to see that x
Agree with the request! It's a brilliant video idea 🙈
the Outline trilogy is great! such beautiful conversations and writing ✨
i have been saving this video just so i could enjoy it with no distractions, what a lovely way to start my sunday morning, good breakfast in bed and jessie x
i don't know how you did the editing for such a long vlog but thank you for this!
That vintage aviator jacket is beautiful!
I LOVE hearing about the books that you're interested in!
I would LOVE to see 2 weekly vlogs a month. Honestly you’re vlogs are my favourite out of every UA-cam channel I watch x
I have to be that person and say that what I love from George R.R Martin's books is precisely the accuracy of the historical tradition during the medieval, its completely realistic which feels to me as he had study well the theme instead of just write a random fantasy story with random rules for no reason. I especially like the clash between realism and fantasy he does in his books, the "what would happen if" factor, its what its specially appealing to me, his understanding of the behaviors from the age he got inspired
Guapa is my absolute favourite book, I was literally typing up quotes from it when you mentioned it because I am writing about it for my uni essay! It is the best, I hope you enjoy it xx
Love the diversity in the books you read so much. One of my favorite channels :)
Forever a supporter of the Aesthetic rant.
I love Stephen Kings writing style. It is very easy and enjoyable. I am usually very picky, but with Stephen King I kinda just lean back and relax - hopefully it will be that way for you too
I’ve been waiting my whole life for a movie by Jess
Pleaseeee we need a video about your top 10 favourite books ever!!!!!!
Such an inspiration to read! I’ve gotten back into and I’m really enjoying myself. I love the justification of the 43 books. No judgement here! All fashion nerds.
ONE HOUR SEVENTEEN MINUTES. THANK YOU JESS
I love “Song of Soloman” and have reread it a couple of times. I always smile at the part about how to boil an egg 🥚, it works 🌝!
This 1hr17min video is so worth the wait. Happy New Jess 😊
I WISH I COULD BUY 43 BOOKS IN ONE NIGHT OMGGGG
I have sporadically watched this video since it was uploaded and I still haven’t been able to finish it
There is possibly nothing I enjoy more than your vlogs Jess. ❤️ It excited me greatly to hear that you’re thinking of filming more this year!! X
The book shop part of the video is shot really well but does unfortunately remind me of stalker Joe hahaha
Yes! Books! Also I cannot wait for you to read Name of the Wind it is my all time favorite. Also, would love to see more vlogs (and house updates) in 2020!
Jess! I love your book content. As someone who studied English, I find your reviews of books and the way you approach and discuss books to be so enriching and refreshing. Keep it up!
Lonesome Dove was made into a mini series a while ago - just in case you feel like checking it out after reading the book
I am reeling 😍😍😍 it's an hour+ long video ❤️❤️❤️ Vlogmas plus a bookshop crawl and haul AND SO MANY BOOKS 👏👏👏 God, the amount of endorphins I am dealing with rn... Thank you!
I got sooo excited when I saw that you bought The name of the wind!! Absolutely love it
I'm obsessed with that aviator jacket!
Jessie, how on earth do you manage to take your contact lenses out with such long nails? When mine are a little bit over the finger I'm just "well, time to wear the glasses!"
Name of the wind was amazing!!
AN HOUR?? A BLESSING 😭
I can never get enough of your book content Jess! The more the better!
id love a "books of the decade" video. your favourite books throughout 2010-2019 x
i'm probably gonna come back to this video every month until christmas
This video really nurtured my SOUL!!! Your videos have really inspired me to read again - this was something I loved to do as a child but then life got in the way I guess :( I’ve decided to get back into it and have read some books - I have actually just started The Overstory because of your raving reviews and how wonderful it sounded. I am loving it so far! Thank you for making such wonderful videos - I find them so calming and inspiring. Happy New Year! X
Aren't there libraries in London? I'm always surprised that you never mention it as an option for reading, considering all the book content
Some AMAZING libraries too! Both architecturally and content/services wise
juiceboxes Im pretty sure she prefers to buy all of her books, because she wants to hand down her book collection to her children in the future:)
Yes but owning I find works better.
There's no pressure to read by a certain date. Plus if u loose or damage them there's no fine. Libraries that I've been to I found are nice.
@@jadeyasmin7842 omg you really are a fan! Great memory!
I read Wild Swans last year and it was truly incredible, very sad and harrowing, specially considering that it happened a few decades ago. Anyway, a great book, one of my favorites now.
book haul was AMAAAZING, very inspired to read
Been waiting for thisss 💗💗💗
I'm so excited about an hour and 17 minutes from Jess!
Yessss Jess thank you for the comment on the use of aesthetic! One of my pet peeves, my friend and I always rant about it lol xx
English is not my first language but I still finish the video just because I lov to hear Jess talking🙈
Love your vlogs love Zak's filming its shot so well love so much bring us more xxx happy reading I love London
Thanks for buying in physical bookshops! I'm not British but online commerce ending physical shops is a thing happenning worldwide, sadly. :_
However, e.g in Poland there is a huge difference between prices in physical bookshops and online. I'm not sure what it's like in other countries, but I guess it's similar. I feel like it's reasonable to buy books online if it means that you pay 20,30 or even 40 % less for them
@@OlkaEmma wow that's a huge difference, so I would buy them online in that case too. In Spain the difference can be some cents, but not more than an Euro usually.
@@maryread2447 wow, that's surprising!
I loved that Stephen King book!
I can't believe I've been watching you for 5 years!
Such a wonderful thing to start 2020 with an hour long vlog~
your hair looked so nice in this vlog! this hair length suits you so well i reckon x
Please read Beauty is a Wound! I would LOVE to know what you feel of it!
I loved your face in the bookstores! So exciting to buy books after a whole year! Am so impressed and loved the haul.x
Have you read any Joan Didion? Also a trilogy you may like is the Passage trilogy by Justin Cronin x
You got lots of books that are in my to be read list as well. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on those books, especially the fantasy books! I’ve never read anything from Rachel Cusk but her book covers really caught my attention in bookstores!
The poppy war!!! I’m so excited to hear your thoughts
Been watching you since 2013
Thank you for your beautiful content 💕
MORE BOOK CONTENT!! Interested to see what you think of my sister the serial killer I was so disappointed and really don't understand why people love it. But at least it was a short read
Regarding fantasy I reccomend you Geralt of Rivia Chronicles (7 books). It's a high quality series of books and the character building is amazing. They're unlike anything I've ever read before 💛
the book content was amazing!! I am Australian and cloud street is actually taught in many schools. Tim Winton is a highly celebrated writer here and I hope you love cloud street!
If you’re interested in Australian fiction I’d recommend something by Lianne Moriarty - they’re a bit fluffy but she writes really rich characters and relationships
I read Saunder's In Persuasion Nation first and it nearly put me off reading anything else by him. I thought the last story in the collection was quite good but it turns out it's just a less fleshed out Lincoln in the Bardo (which I'm glad I did end up picking up on a whim because I too thought it was quite excellent). Loved the book haul, added some to my list!
Dying to see a vlog about the update of the house!! :) Can't wait
Thank you for showing us your book haul! If you enjoy 11/22/63, I very much recommend reading The Shining and its sequel Doctor Sleep.
Can't wait to hear your opinion on The Name of the Wind! Some parts I really enjoyed, some parts I really didn't.
The Name of the Wind is amazing!!!
If you guys consider Houston when visiting Texas I’ll start my list of recommendations now for great eats lol! Love the blog 💕
can you do a makeup tutorial on this look? also loving all the book content, pls more in 2020!
I read Song of Solomon in uni and I loved it. I need to read more of her stuff ASAP 😊
You should watch 11.22.63 the mini tv series too if you haven’t already 🌞
happy new year jess! a lot of those books you just bought are also on my to be read list so i’m very keen to know your thoughts on them. thank you for such a lovely hour long vlog!!!!
Paperbacks usually come out one year after the initial pub date (at least in the US).
Best vlog ever. Loved all the book Content especially and was happy to see quite a few books I've read or are on my tbr too!
Can't wait to watch this tomorrow, thank you go editing and uploading this Jess!!
So excited that you are going be reading Orhan Pamuk. You pronounced it very well. Pamuk means "cotton" by the way :)
Wild swans is amazing! Definitely worthy of a reread.
Omg I love this long feature content!!!!
I cannot WAIT to hear your thoughts on Shantaram (I hate this book with everything in me but everyone else under the sun appears to love it)... And The Name of the Wind is my fave fantasy book. Such an enjoyable read!
TUTORIAL FORR 2.23 make up look PLEAAASE
I really enjoy the book content. You should definitely do more book videos like this, Jess! I live in the US and I had to order the Liu Cixian books through Book Depository! Beautiful editions!
“It was absolute shite and I will not have any of it”
I love youuuuu 😭😭😭😭😭😂😂😂❤️
The Poppy War is such an amazing book. Looking forward to your thoughts on it!
