I am loving the change of scenery Hannah! Still in the middle of the Heaven and Earth Grocery store. Congrats on finishing the project, so dang satisfying!! 🤩
Your creation came out spectacular. Wow. Looks so professional. I love it. Also it’s so beautiful where you are there. The background scenery is so lovely.
Thank you! I do love the view from my house. When we very first saw this house I looked out at the view and knew immediately that it was where I wanted to live 😊
Beautiful project, Hannah! It is addictive to finish something - your fingers and hands just want to keep creating. The balcony is reminding me of some of your early videos! I enjoyed Kamagawa but I did expect more from it so it was a little disappointing, but you can't be too disappointed with yummy food and sweet characters.
Thank you! I sometimes miss filming videos from my balcony in Barcelona but I have so much more space out in the countryside. I really appreciated the warning on Kamogawa before I started it so I could just enjoy it completely without expecting more. I completely get being disappointed if you were hoping for more!
Ooh, I love the tapestry! I'm so glad that you enjoyed The Heaven and Earth Grocery store. I really need to read more books by James McBride (I have quite a few waiting for me!) Okay, reading that poetry in a way to improve your Catalan is a fantastic idea!
Thank you! I loved the recommendation! So far I am really enjoying the poetry book in Catalan. I'm not sure if it is helping my language skills a lot but it is really helping my enjoyment of the poetry 😅
The project looks great. Starting on that poetry sounds like the right step, and I have full confidence that you will meet your reading goals. I haven’t even begun to tackle the Spanish book on my docket. The food detective book looks wonderful - I have to go look it up. (It might make a perfect gift for someone in this household. 😂)
Thank you! It is so hard to get motivated to read when it's not in english 😅 The food detective book is a lot of fun if you are looking for something light that will make you really hungry!
Have you ever read Deacon King Kong by James McBride? That's the only book I've read from him but I want to get to Heaven & Earth after finishing that one. I also feel like the community aspect was really highlighted. The audio is super great too!
I read Deacon King Kong a while ago and don't remember it super well. I read The Color of Water which is his nonfiction memoir and it was also absolutely fantastic! I think you might really like that one 😊
Heaven & Earth was a 5 star for me too. I don’t know what’s worse. It’s fine. Or I hated this. 😅 I do really enjoy historical fiction although I don’t read as much of it now. Good on you for trying to read in both Spanish and Catalan. If you’re looking for a good read in Spanish specifically, check out El Cemeterio De Los Libros Olvidados by Carlos Ruiz Zafon.
Thank you for the recommendation! It was one of those books that was really well done but I couldn't figure out why I couldn't connect with it more. For sure it was some sort of personal problem on my part 😅 I need to read more Zafon! The only book I have read from him was Shadow of the Wind and I read it in English! I will have to try it out. Thanks!
I moved to Barcelona 6 years ago so I had to learn Spanish then. I do alright in Spanish but here in Catalunya most people speak Catalan. Last year we left Barcelona for a small town about 45 minutes out of Barcelona and so many people really prefer to speak Catalan. So I have taken 1 year of Catalan classes (starting in on year 2!) and I am understanding a lot. Many people will speak to me in Catalan and I will respond in Spanish. I am still really struggling to speak in Catalan so I am working on it this year 😊
Hurray for cardigans and well done on your project. Cool.
Thank you! I was so excited for cardigans and then this last week we had a bit of a heat wave 😅 I am really excited for cooler weather
Looks lovely! Thank you Hannah.
Thank you!

Thank you! I hope you end up liking The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store as much as I did! I can't wait to hear what you think 😊

Your project is gorgeous! I always admire people who learn another language 😊
Thank you so much! 😊

I might have to start reading poems in another language too, I don't know any though so I will have to look up every word 😂
😂 Well that is one way to contemplate each word and it's meaning in a poem

How long have you known your other languages? I wish I was fluent in another language.
