What does the camera on the bottom of the screen do? Is it for attending meetings directly on the screen or do you need to have a laptop plugged in to use it? At least, I assume it's for meetings? Thanks for the video!
It is indeed for video calls/meetings. The camera hardware was put in to future-proof the theater screen, as there is currently no software that actually makes it useable... no native software in the screens UI or compatible external software. Though, in a future update we expect BMW to implement video call functionality into the screen's software.

Since this now getting into the A/V realm, is it 4k/8k? Refresh rate? Inputs?
It is an 8k screen, and according to BMW's product info page on it, it has the following inputs: 2 jack sockets for cabled headphones, 1 HDMI interface for cabled video streaming, 1 USB-C socket for the voltage supply of an external wireless HDMI dongle device. I couldn't find any info on refresh rate.
You should ask BMW to explain how not being able to see out of the rearview mirror is safe when the screen is down and the rear window shade is down.
Simple solution: digital rear view mirror. There should be a recall on this vehicle IMMEDIATELY for that oversight and retrofitted with a digital rearview mirror
That is a downside. We do wish they went with a digital rear view mirror, it would make driving with the screen down much easier. Hopefully in a future update for this model.
@@bmwofmorristown9038 Do you not agree that there should be a safety recall on this vehicle while it's still early in the production cycle?? I LITERALLY would not buy this car because of this major oversight. I'm sure the engineers and designers at BMW get paid very well. How did they not catch this? Or did they intend for the monitor only to be used while the vehicle is not being driven? Which is stupid in and of itself
U realize there's vehicles that don't have rear view mirror like vans and shit ? It's not needed
Federal regulations require it now.
