I swear, this video - and the upcoming Crucible release has made me misty eyed, as if I'm getting reunited with a long lost loved one. Brilliant work guys.
'We're not going to jump back until they're dead" 'Get into optimal, get over here, and kill them' 'We're not leaving now' I love this guy, legend, what a leader, you could follow him into hell and be convinced you would kick Satan's ass.
I still find my way back here often and regularly. The story telling, the build up, the climax, the timing, the music, this is just better then so many movies out there
10 years ago on this day, this video made its first appearance. Crazy how things change in 10 years and how fast it can fly by. I miss these days so much, the long nights after my 2nd shift job mining and building for our nullsec corp, or running missions with the guys. Nerve-racking trips to Jita for minerals or to sell. I still remember being there when T3, wormholes, and planet mining were brand new and just dropped. All the good times - It was one of those 'you had to be there' kinds of things, and I'm glad to have been there to, as Walker said, "See something, and see it for real."
"Fly AWAY from the wormhole! Fly AWAY from the wormhole. Get into optimal. Get in here. AND KILL THEM!" I still get goosebumps from that. Anyone who has played fleet cat-and-mouse in Eve Online knows how tough that decision is.
This is incredible. Absolutely incredible. A work of combat proficiency rivaling that of real-world warfare in terms of logistics, planning, and execution. And that carrier pilot deserves a goddamned trophy. And a medal of his own for the "Does anyone have repair paste?" at the end. Just the perfect expression of "Job's done, no big deal."

I'm not sure who says it, perhaps the narrator (who's name I can't remember) but at 22:20 it's voice of a FC: "No. we're not going to jump back until they're dead. All of you around the wormhole, get to optimal and kill them!" I LOVE that line.
My favorite line from him is from clarion call 4 where he says: "It is always more effective to show someone the fire before setting them alight" That's some poetry right there....
Freaking Winston Churchill'd that fight. "Ok, we should be ready to get out" "NO! We will not retreat! We will not back down! We will fight!" "Ok we need to stop now" "NO! We can still fight! Never surrender!" Gah, so freaking awesome. Who needs 2000 man fights when this is so much more epic.
Eve is truly greatest living work of science fiction. After deciding to fly logi, I followed bread crumbs and found treasure left by people who decoded game so long ago. Once i asked in a corp chat (all tough null sec cats, unlike me the null newb) about you. Silence, and then a lone voice said:"Rooks and Kings are my spirit animal". Thank you for everything, and best of luck.
Even 2.5 years since stopped this game - this movie is golden and i rewatch it from time to time :) Wish i had a corp like yours back in my free days :)
Old RnK member here, I still come back and watch these remembering the glory days! From us fighting each other in Foundation/Veritas Immortalis, to us uniting and moving to Amarr space and our transition into what became RnK. Legends, all of them, and the memories will last a lifetime!
I'm watching this 11 years later, the level of leadership here is breathtaking. I know its a game, but you can tell how much their ships matter to them when they were sensing they would be destroyed and panic began to set in, but it did not affect him at all, nerves of steel, and it calmed and focused the minds of his troops in the heat of battle. I wonder if he actually knew Agent would overheat his repper to destruction ahead of him reporting it, I'm sure he did. Sometimes being a leader requires you to be one step ahead of your own troops, let alone the enemy. I would have loved to be in this man's company of soldiers.

I know I've commented on this video in the past, but I'm gonna go ahead and say that this along with SK Believe are the best videos about a video game. And this being EVE Online, gives RnK a slight edge.

lostnamenowwhoami Makes sense, because SK Believe would probably only interest you if you were an SK fan :) Probably multiple CS videos/movies out there that are alot better.
Very well done, LM. And you kept it pretty accurate without chest beating. As an AHARM member who has been there for the whole thing, I actually am proud of featuring in this very well made movie.
"AHARM were wrong about many things, but they were right about their moto: "All paths lead to K162"" I love that. It says all paths lead to the most common wormhole space entrance. But what it takes the meaning of is "All paths lead to adventure, all paths lead to unknown, and all paths lead to home". I don't know much else in EVE online that would count as poetry...
+Galileo Gaming k162 isn't the most common entrance, it is literally the wormhole code for "this is an *exit* wormhole, no details available until your sorry ass jumps through." (so literally, all wormholes lead to a k162 exit) >_>
+George Huestis I've seen some other codes though. That's odd. K162 was always a middle-class though so I assumed it had something to do with that. Maybe I'm thinking of what the WH identifies as when going to other way?
Yeah, it you're on the "entrance" side you get a type-specific id. It's weird but each wormhole has an origin point and a destination, so each side has a different classification. One of these is always k162. I think they did it so all wormholes in high sec would provide no clues as to what you might be getting into by jumping through.
George Huestis Makes sense. it also leaves the question of two linked WH systems. If one is a C1 and one is a C5, whats the class of WH connecting them, and what is it's appearance? WH's be nature are confusing, so I suppose its reasonable that they are the same in-game.

CatroiOz Just buy a plex and sell it in-game for about 630 000 000 isk and then join Brave Newbies. Go to Barleguet (their HQ system) and buy and fit a dozen cheap frigates that have microwarpdrive and warp scrambler (1M for the entire ship + modules, plus a little ammo). Then you just join random brave fleets as fast-tackle and roam around tackling enemy ships. That's the newbie job that you should start in if you want the most immediate learning-curve. +Gosti.C I feel you man I'm part of the dark space initiative a c5 wh Corp and the fight are so different from empire fights.. More specialized rolls to get as much as you can from the small number of ships you can bring.
I can't stop watching this vid- this video is so good it deserves to be on the History Channel or something....it's a full blown documentary of high end wormhole alliance warfare. The production quality of the video is only exceeded by the epic magnitude of the battles being recounted, and the elite skills of the Rooks and Kings pilots on display here. Truly awesome- this is the best fan submitted video for a video game ever.... and not just for EVE, but for any video game.
That has got to be one of the most capturing eve movies i have ever seen, it made me hold my breath at some points. The battle in their wormhole was fantastic! Masterwork video, kudo's to you sir!
Thanks Jackaryas! In other news, I showed this video to a RL friend of mine who has been interested in Eve, but has not tried it. He's completely sold, so thanks again to all of RnK and especially to LM with his awesome narration (Princess' narration was also great on the old CC videos)!
Where the fuck did 35 mins just go?! Haha genuinely didnt realise id been watching rhat do long. Most the vids of EvE dont donit justice but inhave to say this was fantastic well done! And as always fly safe! o7
The best EVE video ever made, i keep coming back to watch over and over, having a tactically aware and calm fc makes all the difference in pvp, if you are interested in viewing pvp vids, then look no further this really is the KING of them all - massive respect too all RnK - keep posting these amazing vids, please !
This is the only EVE video series I absolutely love! In particular this video gives me the chills every time I watch it! Definitely recommend this to anyone that wants a good EVE video to watch.!!!
I am thoroughly impressed at not only the FC's knowledge and application of it, but at the strategic prowess displayed here. This is top notch Eve and goes to show that at higher levels is truly a thinking man's game. I won't even get into the amazing production value of these videos. Epic is truly an applicable term here.
Hayaishi [AHARM] here, comms were very sparse. We were on our offpeak when RnK entered, and we hastily threw together a response. That's why I was in just a Zealot. They show this engagement as a crowning achievement, when really, each member were making 2-3 bil ISK a day, so any losses, even capitals, were replaced easily. It was never an ISK war to us.
From someone who has been on the receiving end of Aperture Harmonics before, I can't say how awesome it was to see them bested on their own turf. I'm just a small fish in Eve myself, but I hope one day to contribute to something as epic as this story :)
I don't think I've ever seen a movie this epic. Narration and music were fantastic. The scope of what happened made it very tense. The stakes were high and depth of knowledge about the game, and the assessment of situation by FC + the fantastic players in the fleet such as the Bhaalgorn & Carrier... Legendary!
That was epic! Thanks a heap for putting this gem together! Better than anything I've seen in theaters last couple of years! I'd pay for this for sure! And not only in ISK...
Super impressive! This was a REALLY good movie about eve, how it works, how the stories unfold, how everything ties together. I enjoyed the narration and the live footage. A1! Would watch again :)
So, I'm unsure how I ended up here, and I have never played EVE and I only barely know what it's about, but I still found this intriguing enough to watch the whole thing, I guess it was because of the way it was presented, quite well that is.
The most brilliant Eve-video I've ever laid my eyes upon, not to mention the top class pvp and tactics and lest not forget the storytelling as the events unfolds... 10/10!
Damn... and I thought our wormhole alliance had problems with another small alliance setting up a POS in our C2... This is on a whole different level of gameplay. A year? Are you kidding me? Hats off.
Sheer Grit, determination, damn good Fleet command, good people, nerves of steel. What it takes for smaller forces to overcome overwhelming force. Thank you for showing the way Rooks & Kings.

+Wiryan Tirtarahardja Pretty sure his voice ranks right up there with Morgan Freeman's. I could put this video, or any video this guy narrates, and fall asleep to it #mancrush haha
yeah i know.
maybe because i came here from that Asakai video. Horrid comms. spam feed cap 999x
+Gosti.C I feel you man I'm part of the dark space initiative a c5 wh Corp and the fight are so different from empire fights.. More specialized rolls to get as much as you can from the small number of ships you can bring.
*****
and lowsec is just gate slug-fests and dashing in between timers.
+Wiryan Tirtarahardja basically. lol. thats the life im living right now. its pretty satisfying lol
"Does anyone have repair paste?"
May as well have been asking for a change of underwear. XD
That has got to be one of the most capturing eve movies i have ever seen, it made me hold my breath at some points. The battle in their wormhole was fantastic! Masterwork video, kudo's to you sir!
Wow I got kinda absorbed there dude should have this as a tv show Christ
*NERDBONER* *DEPLOYED*
This is the only EVE video series I absolutely love!
In particular this video gives me the chills every time I watch it!
Definitely recommend this to anyone that wants a good EVE video to watch.!!!
Wow, just WOW! Marvelous video. EVE is an awesome game and you win at it :D
I am thoroughly impressed at not only the FC's knowledge and application of it, but at the strategic prowess displayed here. This is top notch Eve and goes to show that at higher levels is truly a thinking man's game. I won't even get into the amazing production value of these videos. Epic is truly an applicable term here.
any link to AHARM comms on the last fight?
This is epic. 29:16, i got chills.
+Aleksey Konovalik me too man... "we've won" ! i got the chills everytime !!
+Aleksey Konovalik Been here since release of this and stop by now and then...chills & tears..what a fight and example of teamwork...
This is pure epic - more atmospheric, suspenseful and exciting than most movies. Great job!
Jesus, Enders game much.
Legendary!
Why are they called "rooks and kings"?
***** but why only rooks and kings? why not kings, queens, bishops, knights, rooks, and pawns?
Because in chess there is a strategic play called "rook and king", look it up on youtube, you'll see what im talking about :)
Possibly because Rooks and Kings are the only 2 pieces on a chess board that can move in the same turn.
That was epic! Thanks a heap for putting this gem together!
Better than anything I've seen in theaters last couple of years! I'd pay for this for sure! And not only in ISK...
finally a very decent EVE video with really suitable music (most i find are with dumb techno whatever) +1 for Arcana
Rafal Stanczak Have you watched RnK's other videos yet? I personally think CC4 is their best creation ever.
both Clarion Call 3 and 4 are very well made
this should be nominated for an emmy. the story and narration had me by the end screaming for our valient hereos. wow. what an incredible video
2019, they'ed drop 50 titans on you.............. what happened to eve.
Well, the day they let 50 titans drop in WHs really WILL spell the death of it all.
CCP and Pearl Abyss do seem to be trying hard, though.
Your voice is so calm-it's surreal towards the end.
Revisiting.
From time to time...
Visually and aurally beautify with compelling narration. Why can't more people make eve movies like this? Sets the bar high.
Still watching in 2018
Man this is truly the best and informative video ever on eve. In my Oppinion its awesome how you guys did that. Great job !
wow that was pretty good, the first 40minute youtube vid i've actually sat all the way through in a long time. well done!
Damn... and I thought our wormhole alliance had problems with another small alliance setting up a POS in our C2...
This is on a whole different level of gameplay. A year? Are you kidding me? Hats off.
This was amazing, I was on the edge of my seat - the all in, the burning out of the self rep - wow, a fantastic fight and brilliant editing.
Sheer Grit, determination, damn good Fleet command, good people, nerves of steel. What it takes for smaller forces to overcome overwhelming force. Thank you for showing the way Rooks & Kings.
No idea what was going on, not even playing EVE... but what an exciting and atmospheric little movie this was. Thumbs way up!
