    I haven't played EVE in many years, but looking back at this almost brings tears to my eyes.
    All the friends I made, all the random games we played, middle of the night pings on abstruse phone apps for crazy hotdrops and the endless hours of keep at range to a titan while scanning the horizons of EVE for fleets like a wolf on sheep.
    I miss you guys.
    RnK

      Yeah. When you consider it, it really does show what lengths small groups can and will go to to defend themselves. R&K, Bomber's Bar and Wingspan Delivery Services are prime examples of this. It's really interesting to see how these groups form tactics that require so few people but can be so devastating to even the largest groups. When 20 battleships and a titan, or 10 bombers and a few recons, or 60 bombers, a blops and a recon can reduce fleets or ships of the largest alliances in the game to rubble, you can begin to understand just how much survival in this game depends on the development of tactics, not numbers.

    As a man that has spent 20 years in the US navy, I have studied tactical doctrines and strategies of many nations. It was required reading to a degree. I salute the troops and commanders of RnK. Simply, they wanted to fight the good fight.
    They knew they were outnumbered and outgunned yet devised a cunning strategy that fit what ships they had and the numbers they had to do the most damage as quickly possible. They laid the traps and patently waited to spring them.
    As I think back to my military days I remember these words from The Art of War By Sun Tzu.
    ~ All warfare is based on deception.
    ~Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.
    ~Hold out baits to entice the enemy. Feign disorder, and crush him.
    ~Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.
    Simply put, RnK as taken The Art of War to a whole new battleground, even though it is Cyberspace.
    My hats off to you Sirs and Ladies of Rooks and Kings,
    Dr.Tankenstein aka
    Merrick Wahlburg of Eve

      TheBlueEyedGamer Wingnut those players were probably regular PvPers to be joking like that so easily. Or they were pleasantly surprised and reacted out of respect for the skill of their enemy. There's always a certain respect amongst most players in the game, and the best players are usually the most humble due to years of great experience. That is, unless you join some type of politically corrupt corp or alliance that's not really doing anything beneficial for themselves or the game. If you know of the Titan Madness, you'll you what I mean.

      Since i wrote this comment, ive seen both ends of fights, sometimes the GF's people send are full of anger that they lost, sometimes its just in pure joy of the fun.
      We all respect eachother. outside of the insults, the smacktalk, the backstabbing, We LOVE that someone has come to give us an interesting time, Whether we win or lose.
      I get mad when i lose. but then i smile, laugh, and carry on :D

    The preeminence of Rooks and Kings PVP in New Eden is unchallenged ! If ever there is a group of people in ANY game so worthy and deserving of the title " The Elite ", surely that title would belong to every single member of Rooks and Kings. You capsuleers are what make me play Eve, and though only recently discovering the universe of New Eden, what make me damn sure I devote all my time in Eve to eventually join your prestigeous ranks .Your movies inspire greatness as your tactics inspire apperception! My hats off to you guys for strategic, operational, and tactical brilliance in the face of overwhelming odds. You raised the bar on strategic skill for EVE, and broke the meta through sheer innovation. It really does you credit that merely spotting a single RnK ship of any kind causes panic and doubt for an entire armada that has no force capable of matching it in the area.

      These were the days... Hard to imagine it's been almost 10 years since then. Time flies, and god only knows I wish we could all go back. It was so much fun getting off of work and jumping on EVE for hours at a time, I spent over 6 years playing that game and don't regret one single moment of it. From my earliest days micromanaging skills to get as many ticked off as possible while mining Veldspar in .9 space to finishing off my last Battleships 5 skill. EvE will always be the pinnacle of what I played, as a gamer.

    So. I was flying in a CFC Hurricane fleet yesterday, and this one guy brought a Machariel. I looked for his name so I could call him out in chat, and to my surprise it was a familiar one. GoldSnake. I checked his employment history and there was several years in Farilight (an R&K member corp). The R&K Titan pilot who had the honor of hitting the big red button of a pipebomb. I talked to the guy, and apparently he sold the character to a Goon. I don't know why, but it was very sad and moving to see it. Just, "Long ago, he was great. He was a part of a legend. He was the fist of the greatest weapon that has ever existed in online gaming." and now it's just a name. Even if it was the same physical toon that did these things, he is dead now. It's like talking to a man who introduces himself with the last name of an ancient line of rulers. But in reality, despite my awe and hope, he shares no more with them than his name.

    I come from the first dvellers in EVE-Online, hardcore ex-BoB / DICE / Omega Corp / ATUK member. I quit EVE just because of this issue, people have no honor and just bring more and more people. I remember when DICE went up to help PA, we sat on a gate with 150 pilots for 6 hours while the cowardly enemies had over 300 pilots - they never jumped in.
    I hate cowards in EVE. Back in 2004 when SA was fighting CA on a daily basis, we fought for fun, for the sake of fighting. No hotdrops, or logins - just balls-to-the-wall fighting.
    So i say this with great respect. I would've loved to fight against or alongside Rooks And Kings while EVE was still fun.

    • @svenuckermann3196
      @svenuckermann3196 10 років тому +6

      ***** the new jump changes will make hotdrops so much less frequent that you might enjoy eve again ;)

    • @BrianBors
      @BrianBors 10 років тому +1

      They are changing a lot of things concerning force projection at the moment. It should be a lot harder to hotdrop people now. Check it out. :)

    • @jackb7824

      You know, because picking your fights is cowardly....not like that's what happens in REAL WAR or anything.

    • @Dreez76
      @Dreez76 10 років тому

      That's BS and you know it. If DICE had those 300+ pilots, we would've jumed in on those 150 without problems.

    • @jackb7824
      @jackb7824 10 років тому +1

      Dreez76 You have no idea what was going on with them. For all you know they had a comms breakup and couldn't effectively communicate. Or maybe they just didn't feel like fighting. Not fighting doesn't make people cowards, it just means they didn't feel like the fight was worth the time.

    Very well made video, I've only played eve for a little over a year and one of the 1st people i heard about along with goon and BoB were you guys. I'm really glad you guys are still "semi-around" and doing your thing. Seeing videos like this really inspires me and i believe others who strongly believe and value the small gang pvp. Keep up the good work guys

    Again, Rooks and Kings show not only their incredible piloting skill, but also their ability to make a story feel real and intense. A masterpiece of a Video. I myself can sadly not afford a standard account, but hopefully I will at least get a glimpse of the game. If you are still out there and are still fighting the odds, PLEASE do a Clarion Call 5. Cheers and o7 for your awesome videos!
