How to remove scratch off PIN cover label on gift/phone cards quickly, easily, cleanly!

- Do NOT use a coin to scratch off pin card cover labels, especially if the cards are of lower quality (cardboard or very thin plastic, like TARGET gift cards). You can easily scratch off or damage the number underneath, rendering your card useless!
This method is the easiest and most practical way to cleanly remove PIN card cover labels!
(sorry for the bandaid, I know it can be distracting... I assure you it was not due to a scratch off accident)

It worked! All these years I was told to use a coin. Wiggling the card back and forth makes it easier to peel.

I reccomend rubbing the metal edge of an apple lightning cable connector (iPhone charger) against the material. Rubbs it off really cleanly and easily and doesn't damage the charger either

Well damn. I was today years old when I learned that you can use another gift card to scratch off the number cover of a gift card. It works beautifully. I've been using coins like a peasant and just going really carefully with it. Thanks!

Any way you can still figure out the code if you accidentally rub off one of the numbers
Unfortunately no. Uber gift cards are notoriously terrible for this.
Very very carefully try to see if you can still read the rubbed off
number, or if it's just one number missing, you maybe able to just try
it one at a time on a website (if you can, access it via the balance
checker on the merchant's website, which should lower the chances of you
being locked out of using the card)

Try a magnifying glass. Worked for me. It was barely visible, but still there.

How did you remove the gift card number. I have a Mastercard MyVanilla debit card. The coating on the numbers is to thick for a coin, lighter fluid, or rubbing alcohol. These cards SUCK!
Best way is to use a shaving blade which is sharp. Nothing will happen to the number . Just try it on the side first

Gifts card company’s need to be sued if you accidentally scratch PIN number, and can’t get a new card. Or they giving you the PIN number.

That's extremely illegal, thanks for confessing.
If you reseal it and sell it as though it had never been scratched, that's fraud (and if you send it through the mail, that's mail fraud and a federal crime!). If you sell it to somebody and tell them it's already been scratched (so they know ahead of time and still don't care), then they also won't need for you to reseal it.
