Hi Bryanxle, Huh!? Of course the Chinese will be saying that this video is fake and the Uyghurs are treated well. Because they are! The only problem that is now being discussed in China is that ONLY the extremists are getting the benefits of these Education Programs (learning proficiency in Mandarin [I would turn myself in, if they promised to put me through such a School], as well as a course in Chinese Law. They also enjoy a program of Vocational Training in which if they participate in productive work, they go on pay and can send money home to their families, but when they graduate they receive a State Certificate in their Skill and even job placement if they want. So, yeah, the people who are NOT extremists are complaining "Who do we have to kill?" to also be enrolled in these free schools.
Remember, the only difficult time in these Re-Education Schools is caused by the resistance of the pre-student. Remember that these people are extremist fanatics, indoctrinated by Saudi Arabians with the most Pro-Saudi and most hateful version of The Teachings of the Prophet that they could contrive (it must be something about Bedouin Dessert Culture... with the camels spitting and biting, they became like their camels). So, using the methods of modern scientific psychology and using a system of rewards and punishments, resistance is overcome. The rewards must feel good, but hatefulness would not be encouraged. So, yeah, we hear a lot about how cruel the Chinese are with such stories as "it was cruel what they did to me for just spitting in their faces". but, yeah, the hard part is over as soon as they start saying good morning with a smile. That can happen in six months or six days. If they took me to some Re-Education Camp (due to whatever misunderstanding) the first thing I would do would be to smile and say "wow! this is great. When can we get started". What could a psychologist do with that but say, "uh, okay... give us a few days to catch up on your paperwork.."
But, yeah, in the West, they filter out anything that puts China into a good light (we are supposed to think that Socialist Public Governments for the People are somehow inherently evil, BUT profit motive corporations run by selfish predators bent on Inequality of Wealth are somehow all goodness and light. You know the job of Chief Editor is to kill stories, right? Every good story about China, in the Capitalist West, gets 'killed'.

Hi Kai, China is a secular society. Yes, they make a big deal about being "Han" Chinese, but if you look around at the real ethnic make up of China, well "Han" is sort of a huge Umbrella Term, like the Europeans now use the word "White" to cover about 4 or 5 distinct ethnic categories. But, yeah, were the Han Chinese supposed to sit passive while Saudi Arabian Indoctrinated nativists were launching deadly pogroms into the Han Community? Where else in the World are murderous riots tolerated? Russia would use the Military Model of Kill Em All and pacify the region by leveling it. In America they would toss everybody into prison, with the cops testifying in court that all One Million of them were at a Party with a marijuana cigarette. I guess Europe would do nothing, but then create Neo-Nazi Political Parties and then plan for REAL Concentration and Death Camps.
But China employs Re-Education and Vocational Schools. Yes, the students can learn nothing while they are still seething with hate (that is, seething with the Saudi Arabian Version of the Teaching the Prophet), but methods from modern scientific psychology, you know, systems of reward and punishment are employed to bring the pre-students into the classrooms, ready to learn. Basically, when a pre-student starts greeting Staff with a 'good morning' and a smile, they can start the academic phase of the Program. If some of the pre-students are getting more punishment then reward, well, it is only because of their own objective behavior. The Chinese want to succeed. These Schools are expensive and it is best for each student to move through and graduate, taking their place as equal and collaborating members of a wider secular Chinese Socialist Society.
I just wanted to say thanks since, when I was in sixth grade a kid named noah told me he hates muslims like me. I thought that everyone feels like that, now I see they dont.

Nice video BUT I have to explain some things; Uighurs are not only being treated horrible because they're Muslim but because they're of an other ethnicity. Which is that they're Turkic and not Chinese. If you look up there's a big community of Chinese Muslims in the city Lanzhou and yes, they're living quite peaceful life without being discriminated nor hated by the Chinese government because they're same ethnicity but only differ in religion.

The world is as quiet towards these minorities as they are against most minorities. The majority of people don't seem to care enough, either too busy with their own life and struggles or they simply are ignorant and don't care. Not sure wha't worse. The life struggle seems also to be by design from their governments. 5-6b people don't even know of what's going on world wide, maybe not even in their own country.
What can one do, how to get involved? I do think it does matter and humans must care for each other, all life and the environment way more than on power and wealth and domination. Some say I am a dreamer, but don't share those opinions.

She witnessed how her familis and neighours oppressed by uyghurs and russians during her childhood. she recognised herself as chinese，same as other native ethnics.

You may not like the US but it is at least relatively open, transparent and democratic. There are checks and balances that moderate its behaviour. The situation with China is of a different order. It has a (recent) history of horrifying mistreatment of its own people and it brutally represses dissent.
The Chinese government terrifies me. The idea that it is, arguably, the most powerful institution on Earth (or will become that in the near future), that it has no respect for fundamental human rights, and that it is almost completely unaccountable should be cause for extreme concern.
I sometimes wonder if the Chinese government gets a bit of a free pass from the left on the grounds that it is nominally "communist". I would say that it's closer to being fascist. It is certainly totalitarian.
You can never trust communist. They changed their personality faster than you can flip the book.
In my country history, they once killed the alliance members of different race they joined with once they have sufficient strength and opportunity. Afterward exact revenge to those who don't agree with their ideology even to normal local peoples, including their own race, just like what happened in China.
They look harmless when powerless, shows their fangs when they got a power and will bite you when they have opportunity. One distinct character of them is revengeful even after so many years later or decades.

Therefore, the interpretation of "an infectious disease" as anti-Islam is questionable, especially when the source of this narrative, NYT, stands against China for most of the time.
For China, "an infectious disease" means religious extremism and separatism.(2:56) People who practise their religion normally can act freely. It is the people using religious extremism or other means to break down the country that is to be heavily punished. People who were slightly affected by the religious extremism were sent to training center to dismiss the affect of those thinkings.
The religious extremism and separatism exist LONG BEFORE Chinese government impose those measures in 2014. To prevent people from affecting by them, it's necessary to have tougher security check and other measures in place. Without the measures, there can easily be huge mistrust between people of different ethics, which leads to instability of the society that the US government wants.

"Muslims in China". They are a completely separate nation to China. Uyghurs have their own language, ethnicity, culture and history. This isn't simply about Xi Jinping's regime targeting religious people, this is about the colonisation and persecution of an entire civilisation. It's similar to how white Americans treated Native Americans.
