Thinkware image quality really does suck ass, thank goodness I've never needed to recall a plate. Much better voice recording/audio quality though. You should do wind-noise testing as well, windows down, freeway speed. That's a huge pain point for me, though, I doubt it's even on most manufacturers' radars. The massive, gaping speaker hole on the side of this thing leads me to believe wind noise would be show-stopping, that I'd need to pack it full of foam or mummify it with fabric tape!
If you haven't changed the wifi password, the default should be "qwertyuiop". If you can't connect with that, then you'll want to do a factory reset on the camera (press and hold wifi button on the camera for >5sec), and then connect to the camera the way you did when it was new.
Thank you for detailed review! 😀
How do we solve the issue when the camera says “shut down the system to protect the battery of your car”? Thank you
On Gnet, does it have audio when you playback video on the phone?

I am debating on this one versus the thinkware Q800pro, not sure which one to get.
If you do mostly daytime driving I'd go with the Q800Pro. If night time, then the G-ON2 is a good.
BlackBoxMyCar no longer appears to be selling this dash cam. Hmmm?
Good thing there are lots of other good options on the market!
I'll probably buy VIOFO A139
