12:33 Just turning on port forwarding without some knowledge of what it does, and without a reason is a terrible idea, and can open up a big attack vector for your network.

Would like to see you use fibre optic on some of your setup ( patch cables, between switches, long runs ) seems not to exspensive, kit for terminating relatively cheap from Amazon. Obviously cant be used with POE, but would be a good comparison 👍

Alex, My ASUS ROG Rapture GT-
AXE11000. Would go in the bedroom and the newest version of this router would go in the living room. Would it be best to drill a hole in the wall and run a cable connecting the two in regards to Meshing ?

      @ShaneMcGrath. Місяць тому +2

      Yes, Wired always wins.
Connect your ethernet cable preferably a shielded cat 7 (so you rule out any other interference in your house) from your main new routers LAN port to your old routers WAN port.
AImesh should then auto detect best option for data transmission be it wired or wireless

    Does it have enough antennas????
I think the big cost item on that router is the inbuilt 10G switch and 10G wan. That seems to have majorly increased the price

I live in Western Maine and for years it was a pipe dream to get anything faster than 14600 baud however fast forward to 2013 we got 256 /256 Kbps DSL, massive difference although pricey at almost 150 per month.
Now I'm at 2.5Gbps at $75 per month.

It was cheaper for me to upgrade my internet speed to 1.5 gig rather then leave it at 1 gig. But my network was set for 1 gig max. Now I have fully upgraded every last part of my network besides the roughter. I'm pretty much stuck with this one now.. Because of the future proofing. I'll be fully setup for 10g after I buy this.

I directed funds instead intro hiring an electrician to install numerous CAT8 cables throughout my home. Next I purchased multiple 10GB switches to support all those connections and 2 ASUS WIFI 6E AXE16000 setup as Mesh with 10GB backhaul. Final touches is purchasing multiple PoE switches to power multiple security cameras and a Synology NAS to record 24hrs/day. My PC is happy getting full 3.0 Gb/sec upload and download which is the max speed available in my area.
My Asus router can handle all this and the Wifi is basically just there to give my tablet and phone access to UA-cam or Netflix. Otherwise a direct wired connection to me is preferred.
I spent so much money on so many different routers over the years and nothing beats a solid wired connection.

Titling the video WiFi 7 but only testing WiFi 6e?
And i know their internet speed is less than a gig, but WiFi 6e is faster than that. I get 1.5 Gbps from my ISP's free WiFi gateway on just WiFi 6e. A better test would have been to spin up a local iPerf server and connect up via 2.5Gb or 10Gb to remove the ISP bottlebeck.

This video was underwhelming as it doesn’t actually show off the speeds it’s capable of.

Still waiting on Microsoft and Intel to put the Wi-Fi7 standard out, until such time the Router works maximum as an Wi-Fi6E router as its 160Mhz only at max bandwidth versus Wi-Fi7 320 mhz. I love the Router, its massive and currently have it in Mesh with one of my older 'Spiders' RT-AX89X. Thus far not much difference with my ASUS AXE16000 router, speed wise and yes I do have Wi-Fi7 clients, laptop & Desktop with Intel BE200 cards. Nice video, keep it up and looking forward to your later test once WiFi7 standard is fully supported. 😇😇

One comment on the separate SSIDs for the different band networks - I prefer the same. If you have an apple device though and you whish it connects to the 6GHz band, you won't be able to find it. Apple devices, which support Wifi 6E require smart network to be setup (Same SSID for the three bands). So, bad apple, I won't comply and I will have my 3 separate band SSIDs and you go work on your 5Ghz band :D Also, go buy an intel BE200 M.2 wifi adapter, and test the WiFi7 itself! :)

@@UnalloyedMars WTF are you going on about ? Your internet provider will charge you wetter you do or don't have an asus router. LOL .. They call their hardware the "modem" to be able to subscribe to their service. Wetter you use it as a router or as a bridge won't change the price. And travelling with that asus router is not an option . It 's way to big and way too heavy LOL There are other solutions for that, hence who would wanna travel with THAT?! No really the router is way overpriced and it's a gamechanger for a lot of people. Most of them switch to Ubiquity. Wonder why ... Asus is no longer "for all people" as the CEO mentioned in his video.

there are legitimate use cases for high end routers, just not for you.

It's a router that is faster than any other!
Whether you need that is up to you, Some of us do for certain things.
Yeah it's expensive but it's also future proof for the next decade thus the price isn't that bad, Also built in 10g and 2.5g ports can eliminate the need for the average joe household to go out and buy a 10g or 2.5 switch.
For those that already have at least a WIFI ^E router then this is probably not worth the upgrade, But if you have anything older then it's a once off purchase and you are good for 10 years, Each to their own.

Separate SSID for each frequency band?? Worst advice ever!! Come on man… at least take advice from a qualified network engineer before making these “recommendations”
