I have a GTE and have issue with hybrid system VW quoted my £13000 to fix it but the car is only worth £15000. Apparently the battery has been hit by road debris and damaged the battery. I would avoid this car again. Very stressful as my car is a write off!
Had mine replaced as part of a VW recall. I can confirm the old battery gave me 46km when charged to 100% and the new battery gives me 50km. Plus I now have another 8 years warranty on the new battery which is nice for a 2016 car 😊👍🏽
@@Barry_Kavanagh Do you know if there's any way of finding out if the car has had a battery swap, without going to VW? And was yours replaced due to the seal issue!?
@@computerbob06 to be honest, the seller should be bragging about it. A new battery gives the car an extra 6 years or 100,000km of battery warranty as well as zero degradation on the battery so you get the full 50km range back that the car has new. I have paperwork from my repair with all the details and a photo of the dash with the 50km range ready to go. For me, this means I can sell the car for easily an extra €2K above what it’s worth in the market so it’s definitely not something I’d be keeping quiet. Alternatively, VW can check if it’s still part of the recall (meaning it has not been inspected for the seal repair or battery replacement) but I appreciate you mentioned this might not be an option for you, but if you had the chassis number before buying you could check it.
@@sargfowler9603 Well that's good news and thanks for the reply! I am pretty awful at finding info: do you have a link? I've turned into a battery nurse, so far improved it from 26-32 miles haha.
@@sargfowler9603 Might apply to UK only but found this...For PHEVs, the battery energy content degradation warranty lasts for 5 years or up to 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, for the first customer vehicle owner only. This warranty is not capable of assignment or transfer to subsequent vehicle owners. Unfortunately I'm the second owner but the HV battery is coming up nicely and I expect cell replacement at reasonable cost will be possible in a couple of years.
Sellam how much does it coast to change
Hello, maybe someone know, do this battery has any pyro fuse inside ? Thanks
Hi, how much the new hybrid battery cost, I am planning to buy 2016 passat GTE hybrid, 75000 km driven

I thought the batteries had 8 year warranty?
As far as I know, that is for full EV's only
@@MaxPlankton No, that applies to PHEVs too. 8 year, 100,000 miles
