Hey. Have you changed your video editing style? It seems different. Interesting to see a faster paced video, but I loved the extra interaction with you from before. Thank you for the great content either way.

Hi Robert, as nice as it is to see a complete project I do miss the longer videos. I learnt a lot from watching and listening to you take your time to talk us through what you’re doing and the reasons behind your choices. I feel like that’s lacking a bit with these faster-paced videos lately. I’d have been more than happy if this was twice as long or longer.

Personally I much prefer the longer form video series, but love what you have to teach either way, thanks for doing what you do!

I like the complete task in one video. It’s a complete story all on one. However if there’s something that’s extra complicated or interesting, I don’t mind it being split up.

I don’t mind the full project in one video. Though, I think I prefer the slower pace of multiple videos. I’d be keen to see a part two with the dinos on how you’d solve the bubble problems!

I like the mix of the two; simple projects in one video, more complex ones over the course of two (or more?) weeks. This seems pretty good as a format to me.

As a complete project this video was fast. I like hearing you talk through your process so often I prefer the multipart projects you do. If it's not too much a pain I'd really like to see more projects split up into parts so there is room in each video for a deeper dive into what is happening and why.

  • @fimbulkron

Format is good. Not every project needs to be multiple videos. Depends on the project and what you lined up.

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about complete project videos, but it turns out I really like that format!
One project I'd love to see you do is casting hard candies or gummies from a non-edible original. It seems like there are a lot of considerations here (e.g. food safety of the mold material, shrinkage of the casting material, etc) and I'd love to see your take on it. Some dice, or a simple figure might be interesting!

I really liked last week’s all-in-one video. Since it was a smaller project it made sense to complete it in one video.
This week felt a bit too fast for me. I would have liked to see how you would have filled that cavity in the body with wax, for example. Having trouble visualizing that aspect. I also like seeing the cutting process a bit more too, I learn a lot from that.
All in all though it’s nice to see some vids that just get right into it, with a few key highlights of things to watch out for, since we’ve seen quite a few detailed processes already.

Evening Mr. Waxy Rubber R. Enjoyed this project. To watch a skilled craftsman, doing the thing he does, never ever gets uninteresting. About the length of your episodes question, I would watch any length. I understand that longer episodes require alot more time, not just editing, but planning, filming, set-up time etc. Whatever length you can give us, I'll be watching. Just don't burn yourself out and quit making videos. Internet (and I) wants you to continue do you. =)

I've seen a lot of videos where the mold seal fails and rubber or plastic leaks everywhere. Yet here you have a nice wax solution that seems to give no trouble

    • @RobertTolone
      @RobertTolone  2 роки тому +1

Once in a while a mold will leak but mostly wax does a great job of making mold cases “water tight”.
The bigger the mold the more careful you have to be about case construction.

Project Suggestion: Can you teach us about Overmolding? I would love to see how to make multiple layer parts cast over each other (like a colored resin part on top of a clear resin core, for example), and I think you might be the only one qualified to teach us!

Another great video! As you mentioned a two-part mold with additional knobbies to align the forms would be more precise. Still a great result for such difficult parts. Regarding the double-side adhesive tape you should test the adhesive with some rubber before molding. Silicon adhesives may stick permanently with your silicone as well, some otehr can inhibit polymerization. If you have the right tape this si still a very good and easy method to fix the parts on the bottom of the mold. Thank you again for showing your work!

So I got a few years but I plan to set up a little (verry) shop for something to aim my attention at and maybe supplement my S.S. check when I retire. I have the space and access to all the materials but will need a vac-chamber and pressure pot. I would Truly appreciate any suggestions or options on brands or if I should go the get a motor and vessels and modify them to purpose. like I said time is the most abundant of my resources not to say I don't have money just not a lot to start, but it can and will increase . Anything you care to share, I've always tried to find the person with the most functional knowledge on a thing and learn as much as they'll let me see. And far as I can tell on this subject that's You, So if you are willing I a) promise I will listen and b) I will use the information (and for it's intended purpose). I'd love to build a smaller version of your press-pot system but most likely could get by with a retail version (if there is one that's worth it) and have never worked with a vacuum before but am familiar with the concepts and principles.

Add in whatever overhead you have and that tells you how much to charge.
