Thank you , I had 6 years worth of dust, and I didnt know this had to be done. My laptop was making asthamtic breathing sounds and coughing really loud, now its silent and peaceful , thanks again :D
Totally Agree, it should be as easy as removing/adding RAM, but I dont think its good for them, as this will increase the longevity of the Laptop and thus they will sell less
A tip for new laptop owners, buy a compressed air duster to blow out the dust regularly. I have been doing this every month with my laptop, this will prevent the dust from forming to the point you have to remove the case. It is not perfect but good enough if you are afraid to remove the screws. Also, don't be afraid to spend some money on good compressed air, cheap compressed air might not have enough air pressure. Remember to watch the video on to how properly use compressed air on your laptop.
how do you do it? i keep hearing random buzzing sounds from my noise thing and fan and it hasnt been cleaned ever. idk how to remove the parts and all and i dont want to screw anyting up. do you have to remove the back piece and the battery?
you should also clean your cooling fan because the CPU might stop working, and one of the worst things is that the laptop battery powers the fan even more just to cool the laptop, so that is why the battery dies faster if you had never cleaned the fan.
My bro was getting 10-20 fps because of super heating like 80 degree Celsius. Then he cleaned up his heatsink and remove a bunch of this gross things. Now temp is normal and overall performance is better than before!

@@M11kal I did try but for some reason the last few screws I need to remove seem to be permanently stuck. I tried with all my force with all my screwdrivers and those things would not come loose. If I want to get rid of the dust I'd need to take it to a shop and get it fully cleaned.
I took my laptop apart and it was full of dust but really fun to take apart and clean, got a bit obsessed and cleaned the ones from my mom and dad too, all of them were successful 👍
Very helpful tip 👍🏼 I can definitely say that just by cleaning the fans, the temps reduce by 12-15 °C !! I have MSI laptop (GE72MVR 7RG Apache Pro) and I cleaned the fans at home for 2-3 times in 4 years. Now I have, kind of, become an expert in this process 😎 There are 20 screws for external cover and 13 screws for heat sink assembly. And 6 tiny screws for both the fans. All of these 'screws' take a lot of time, actual cleaning is just a few minutes work. During the disassembly process, literally feels like a surgeon...lol 😁 For this laptop, it is required to remove the entire heat sink if you want to have 100% fan cleaning and get rid of all the dust. I also replaced the thermal paste which reduced the temps even more. I had purchased the laptop in 2017. It may need fan replacement (I believe their spin capacity has been degrading and need frequent cleaning) but difficult to find genuine, original parts nowadays...most people sell duplicate parts by labelling as 'original'.
@VIK Yup, I was surprised too! But my laptop is 4-5 years old, so fan rotation capacity already feels a bit reduced. I had not cleaned the fans in 1 year and dust finds it's way in these components no matter how hard you try to keep it clean. Another best thing to try to reduce temps is by - 1) Changing the thermal paste (if not done in 2-3 years and laptop is out of warranty) & 2) CPU-GPU undervolting. I wish I knew about undervolting few years ago...could've granted the components a lot of relief under heavy load.
@VIK No, not really. Negligible. In fact, it can improve performance and provide more stable framerates without those annoying stutters because we are maintaining a stable clock cycle for slightly lower voltage. You'll have to experiment with the settings and find a sweet spot for your setup (as each system is different). Throttlestop = CPU undervolt MSI Afterburner = GPU undervolt Do go through a good amount of information/videos on Google/UA-cam on how to do it correctly. Undervolting is a process, a journey.... enjoy it 😬
@@himanshurao8668 Yes, you must clean it soon! Just watch some UA-cam videos for similar laptop and you are good to go. It's not that difficult. MSI has really good build when it comes to disassembly-assembly. Keep all the screws properly in place, they are easy to lose or fall inside during disassembly. Use a good magnetic screwdriver so screws will attach to the tip. Recently I had to replace CPU fan from MSI service center as it was not rotating properly and now it runs extremely well. After few years, fan rotation capacity reduces even if you clean it nicely and needs replacement.
Scared to take mine apart lol, it’s been a family laptop for over 20 years and never been cleaned. Just got a warning when I opened it that the fan wasn’t working so I’m gonna give this a shot
Your computer generates heat constantly while it's running especially the cpu with a fan blocked like that the computer is essentially cooking itself thus extremely shortening the life span of it and slowing it down because it's turning it's power down to try make less heat so it is what you would consider "damage"

I soaked it in water and dawn dish detergent. Just submerge the whole laptop in the solution. But it was too late. That dust did permanent damage to my computer. It won't even start now.
An IT technician in my workplace told me that because the fan is coupled with the power supply, even if the laptop is unplugged, the power supply can still retain sufficient charge to deliver a powerful shock.
Hmm.. most of the DC to AC conversation gets done externally, so i don't think there is a "normal power supply" like a pc. In most laptops at least. If you unplug the battery you shouldn't be able to shock yourself even when touching things you aren't supposed to. It should be safe.
@@busteronlyfullscreenmode yeah seems like it. There shouldn't be any dangerous electrical shocks if you're only working with the fans. However if you don't know what you're doing you might touch something you weren't supposed to. But most likely that will either do nothing or maybe it would damage the laptop instead of you. On some very rare occasions you might get a shock from some parts.

All I did is pop off my Dell Inspiron 17R's keyboard and there was the fan. Vacuumed it while preventing fan from spinning (with a screw driver) and a giant fur ball came out. But my Dell is now running super cool with built in GT-650M graphics card not overheating and shutting down the pc. Hardest part was getting the keyboard to click back into place.
When I open my laptop, the fan is hidden under 10000 pieces of other components. I would have to remove every single item to get to the fan! Your fan is easy to remove, just unscrew 2 screws and that's it. That is so easy!
