Vinegar is a good one to use as well.
It's the acid you're after. It's used to break down the grime.

Is it possible to put some oil to keep it well Hidrated and will break less easily?

Yes, it is. The basket is untreated, so you can paint, oil it as you please. have a lovely day

Lemon juice has very little sugar in it and it was diluted. What I'd like to know is why can't I just run it under the tap?

Actually, this was a pretty good video. However, it might have been more noticeable in a clear glass bowl so you could see the mixture while mixing. I could not see, bc the tub was to high. Such a big tub for so little solution.
