- The family of a victim of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer speaks out following the release of Netflix's 'Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.' Rita Isbell, sister of Errol Lindsey, who was killed in 1991 by Dahmer, and Eric Perry, their cousin, are slamming Netflix for putting out the series and forcing them to 'relive' the tragic experience. 'Dahmer - Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story' is streaming now on Netflix.

What’s sickening is that people like Dahmer, Bundy and Gacy are being remembered for the menacing things they did, when it’s the victims that should be remember.
So go out there and do something for the victims to help people remember them instead of crying about it 🤷 Hate it all you want, but a person doing morbid things will always stand out and grab the attention of others. That's life 🤷
It's people like Dahmer, Bundy and Gacy who created these stories which makes them impossible to erase & forget about. Their names will be forever linked to their victims as the root & cause of it all.

It shed a lot of light for those who don’t know the story. However, I felt the anguish and hurt from the actor playing this lady, I can’t even imagine how the real speech felt.
You know you can actually watch the real speech right now. Look it up.
Nobody has to know the full story. It has no use. It is enough to know that there was a killer and he is a disgusting person already for that.
For the people saying “well the family was portrayed sympathetically”… it doesn’t matter. The series still brought back horrible memories to the family and forced them under the spotlight without their knowledge or consent. As someone who wants to become a forensics technician, I understand the curiosity around tragic cases- but the families' healing is much more important than our morbid curiosity.
I am sympathetic. I think they should avoid the show and all news on the show if it triggers them so. I also think they should have been made aware and even paid for it but that scene was not the first scene in episode 1. It wasn’t even in episode one so she either watched it on another platform or sought it out. If it was triggering for her she should not have done so.
Using that reasoning, should we never talk about 9/11? School shootings or mass shootings in general? Hell, *ANY* event in recent history that involves people dying? I mean people who lost loved ones in those tragedies are still alive and will get reminded anytime those events are brought up..should we act like those things never happened, so that the surviving families don't get upset?
Or do we observe those events in an attempt to understand the dynamics involved so we can educate others and potentially prevent similar events from happening again in the future? I feel for the family, but there is more to be gained from airing it all out than sweeping it under the rug.
@@fuhque9132 exactly why do people want to bury human history, it’s the most important part of life. To learn from it.

I 100% understand where they are coming from. I do believe Netflix should have notified them and paid them, as this is their stories (not just the monster's). I disagree though on the shows release itself being a bad idea. I believe it's important for people to know just how insane certain individuals can be, especially strangers. People will think twice before hitchhiking, one night stands, etc. Stories like this need to be retold so we can be aware of red flags to look out for. There's A LOT of crazies out there. Maybe you need to look into your neighbor! You may be the one to make it headline!!
I think we have a pretty good culture around protecting ourselves when meeting up with strangers because of stories of predatory people like this. Like having a friend nearby or informing someone. The fact that you needed a series about a serial killer to show you “how failed the system is” is just mind boggling to me. Like were you not alive during the George Floyd protest? Better yet do you not know American history? Also who is it important for? The families dont need to be reminded of what happened bc they lived through it and still do. Grieving never stops and it definitely doesn’t stop when there are countless documentaries about the tragic death of a family member. Y’all are just as sick as him.
Honestly I had even forgotten that he targeted mostly black people. I consume a lot of crime content and I forgot he did that and it was eye opening to see just how fucked up people can be. There’s been like 6 movies about this man and I wonder why outage wasn’t held against those as well? Why are people choosing this one to be upset over? In genuinely curious. And if people watched the show they did not glorify this man at all nothing was glorifying him. I think the media likes to inflate things to get people upset and outraged. Just like those protests, black people are going to be outraged for a few weeks then keep doing the same thing they been doing. No one actually cares about the victims families you just wanna be collectively outraged.

Dahmer is one of the most notorious serial killers ever. What made him stand out the most was what he did to his victim's bodies after they died. He was disgusting. Sort of related but the Son of Sam law was created after the serial killer David Berkowitz tried to profit emormously about the terrible crimes he committed by publishing a book. This law prevents convicted felons from profiting off of stories about their crimes by movies, interviews and books and if they do somehow make a profit, all the money collected is distributed to victim's families. This law is currently in effect in over 40 states. This law doesn't apply here as Jeffrey Dahmer is long gone and has nothing to do with the movies or books written about him after his death.

I don't get why Americans just too easily go to other people's houses... I don't mean only safety concerns. It is not something okay with me..
Know one had to watch it if they didn’t want to. I think it’s a story that needs to be told so others can know the horrors that exists in our world.
Nobody asked for your opinion.
& Nobody asked for yours either
The story has been told over and over again.
It’s 2022 it’ll never be another JD
@@kryzs_kornhell so what?
I definitely agree why glorify this to make others think this a way to get known. It’s already happening in our world. Things like this makes it worst on today’s tragedies.
I def agree this dramatisation of actual events is gut wrenching. I can’t imagine what it’d be like to lose someone close to me in such a horrific way and then they make a show about it
Netflix should pay every victim’s family member all profits from this series which should never have been remade
Couldn’t agree more. Netflix should be ashamed
Finished watching this chilling Reality in Netflix last Night....Condolences to the victims and their families😓🙏🏽😪😔
I guess I get her... but why did she watch it? It's not like someone held a gun up to her head and told her to watch the show :/
Why did they watch it? I certainly would not watch it and give it attention if I were them. Many movies are out there about other serial killers this is no different.
Shame on Netflix and disrespectful. The same thing was done with the Mike Tyson story he never was told either.
They want that payday, all the other shows and books should have triggered them as well. I feel for them all but this looks like a money grab, look into her full interview and she says “I could have understood if they gave money to the victims”.
That’s says it all, money money money..
Yeah that’s gotta be really traumatizing….imagine you’re just browsing Netflix and you come across a full blown series that involves your trauma/story. That is messed up of the producers, F Hollywood.
they should've notified the families of the victim. Also, why 23 years? it's supposed to be 13 years
I pray for the families. 😭
They need to stop glamourizing serial killers by making movies/shows about them. This wasn't made to be informative, it was made for money and entertainment and completely disregarded the victims families.
The greedy film executives need to respect the victims families.
Girls be like "THIS IS DISGUSTING!!! THINK ABOUT THE VICTIMS FAMILIES!!!!" And then go listen to a true crime podcast😆
As tragic as it is,it simply goes to show how professional the cast and the director is
Phillly is bettterrrr🤡🤡🤡🤡
Just finished the series. I have to say they did a great job. Don’t tell the story if you ain’t gonna tell it right. It was hard to watch but I appreciate the realness.
Netflix should donate the profits to the victim's families
Media is making guys like this too famous. They should just let this case go go to rest.
Yeah real crime means real trauma it's not "entertaining" for everyone or reasonable to expect it to be treated as such.
These streaming services will do anything for money greedy
How can you make a series like this and not have the real life victims families know about it before it’s broadcasted around the world on Netflix. That is sick and insanely insensitive to these families. Shame on the creators and shame on Netflix!!!
They shouldn't have portrayed her without asking first
1:28 Noone forces them to WATCH and RELIVE the tragedy! It's like a kid crying that fire burns her hand while she's the one who touched it.
I understand how the family feels, but this is a dark/sad part of history & the story needs to be told.
Told again and glorified for what? Y'all give space, respect, and support to evil and then act confused as hell when it comes back to bite you
Jeffrey has had more films and documentaries than Malcom X, MLK, the Black panthers and many other historical group/ figures that made a difference. Why this animalistic serial killer gets praise, explains the intellect of most Americans today.
So it was too accurate?
I'm glad it was made tho, despite the show bothering me... a lot. Especially the "Silenced" episode.
But people NEED to see it.
People need to kno what really happened.
Or at least as close to the truth as possible.
The series is a true gem and finished it in one sitting!
Wow 10 hours straight huh I don’t understand how people do that
If you get hooked to it you would lol! but i rarely do it
They still dont even have a memorial for the victims
Heartbreaking
Yoo this makes me cry 😢 god that man was a monster
It's disgusting how the families who actually lived the trauma aren't notified and don't need to give consent for big companies to profit off their real life trauma and use their likeness to do it. If they were rich they would have sued the pants off Netflix and won.
I cry everytime I see her in court. Omg!!! It hurt so bad. It hurt like that was my son, uncle or brother. Not going to lie I wish Netflix would have never never made that movie. Not going to wat h that aick crap!!! I can imagine how she feels to live it again. Damn
If it wasn't for the series, I wouldn't have really known what happened.
Human beings don't care about victims and their trauma. It's like the are desensitized. The monster is gone, the only ones who have to pick up the pieces over and over again are the victims. For those stories that they got wrong their image are forever tarnished but no one is counting right!!!
No offense, but no one is forcing you to watch the show. You wouldn't be so triggered if you chose not to watch it. Especially knowing what it's about because the title is very clear. In my opinion Netflix did a great job with the casting and telling of the story. This story is informative to many people including teens, and that we need to watch out for certain red flags. But do not blame Netflix because YOU chose to watch it and it's retraumatizing you.
I know people are saying to just avoid this show if it bothers you, but you can't avoid it. It's the first thing you see when you get on Netflix and everyone is talking about it
They still have a choice of not pressing the play button.
@@adrienjeffries1033 It doesn't really matter if they can't not avoid it
The fact that they recreated the older sister having a breakdown in the court room is so heartbreaking. All these families have to live everyday knowing that their loved ones are gone. They shouldn't have to hear or see about recreations of the story.
Netflix not the only ones has recreated this
Why, why,why do we allow media to keep sensationalzing these horrible events just to get views and money. I remember the horror when this was happening, and I am sickened by the decision to recreate this bit of history.
Lmao, virtue signal a little harder why dont ya 🤣
This story is shining light on what went wrong back then and why/how he got away with it. My heart feels for the families and their losses but they shouldn't watch it if its gonna be triggering for them. Like really, why watch it
Why would you watch it and encourage supporting a new serial killer?
You are a selfish person let your mother be killed and see how you feel about it being played on TV
I'm assuming that this isn't just their decision to watch, but also being bombarded by trailers, reviews etc by the public, as well as the people around them who's aware of the situation. Especially if they weren't informed about the series, it probably took them off guard, being told their traumatizing stories without their consent.
To be honest I didn’t know anything about this story other than he was a serial killer. This actually show the true story of wat happened.
So we can't read and comprehend now? There's needs to be a video tape of everything or else you won't know shit?
These stories need to be told to, i wasn‘t aware what happened especially how the police failed in this case. the serie did a good job especially the actors so it felt really real and scary. it needed to be told so people can prevent a person turning into someone like dahmer and look at the warning signs and immediately take action
Nj is bettteerrrrr🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡🤡
They didnt do a good job because its extremely inaccurate. Watch a fucking documentary or something
All these series do is glorify and even victimize the killers, not only that it gives people a blueprint of how not to get caught so it actually does the opposite of what you said.
If you think a documentary about serial killers prevents serial killers then you’re sadly mistaken.
It doesn't need to be told over thousands and thousands of times. There is a Dahmer movie with Jeremy Renner and another one that released a couple years back.
This story has been told numerous times. There's plenty of documentaries, books, and movies about this pos.
They didn’t inform the family ahead of time!?
I feel sad for the victims, but people have to KNOW this exists. It brings it back, like a memorial.
People already know it exists.. if you had a family member horrifically murdered and then have to watch it play out on a TV show...you'd be messed up too. Duh
@@jpb544188 I agree that the pain the victims of this tragedy must be astronomically great and I do feel for them, truly. BUT, I don’t think tragic events like these should just be swept under the rug. History should be learned. By learning about events like these, you are able to make wiser decisions and find ways to prevent more tragedies like these from happening.
@@jpb544188 By the way not everyone knew about Jeffrey Dahmer. Me being one of them.
