    Thank you so much for explaining a set of very complex topics in an easy way!
    You have the prayers and support of all of us getting educated with your knowledge. Teaching itself is not a difficult job, but teaching so that the students easily understand, interpret and memorize the concepts is an art!!

    Hi Dr Ryan!! You are such a lifesaver. This just lifted a huge burden from having to read this on my own. Each time i try...i never get to understand it fully up until now. I was hoping you could release a slide on forest plot...it appears to be a high yield area as well for INBDE. Thanks and God bless!!

    Thank you for the wonderful videos and all your hard work that goes into them! One suggestion on this video that is minor, right before 26 minutes you mention "accepting the null hypothesis." In the stats world this is a big faux pas, as you NEVER "accept the null hypothesis", but rather "fail to reject the null hypothesis." I know it's semantics but it is a big point in the stats/literature world.

    Thank you Dr. Ryan for this excellent presentation. As you mentioned in this video type 1error s occure when can yield significant even it does not exist in the sample. Most studies use alpha =5%,95% confidence interval , p=0.05 to reject or accept the null Ho which may indicate the means, scores or a proportions are not different. To add, Jacobsen,2017, indicated that when alpha=5% about 1in 20 of statestical test of data will result in type 1 error. Whereas choosing alpha= 0.10 or significance level of 10% will increase type 1 error causing 1 in 10 tests to indicate difference or significant difference even though there is no difference.
    Type 2 errors finds no significant result even though a significant difference exists and the likelihood is 20% of type 2 errors.
    Our goal of any study to find association or difference so I found benificial to use significance level at 5% where alpha=0.05 during my practicum. Thank you. Dr.K.Etheridge MPH-d

    Question about type 1 error/alpha or type 2 error /beta:
    Which is least harmful? I think is type 2 error bc the disease doesn´t receive treatment. What´s your opinion? Thank you in advance

    Hey Dr. Ryan, quick question: where would Literature reviews be on the hierarchy of evidence?

  • @oliviajoseph9347
    @oliviajoseph9347 2 роки тому +1

    could you explain the difference between prevalence and incidence?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  2 роки тому +2

      It all has to do with the element of time. Prevalence is the proportion of individuals who have a condition at a certain period in time (on this day at this time, how many people in this room have a cavity?). Incidence is the proportion of individuals who develop a condition over a certain amount of time (after 6 months, how many people in this room got a cavity?). It is a subtle distinction, but an important one!

    Gingival index: ordinal or nominal..?

    • @mentaldental
      @mentaldental  3 роки тому +2

      Gingival index is ordinal, because the values (0-3) come in discrete, ordered categories.
