- Welcome to FilmVerse - The initial concept behind FilmVerse was to create a film emulation power grade that closely replicates the distinct qualities of Kodak's Vision3 film stocks, widely utilized in Hollywood productions. Our ambition extended beyond merely adding to the plethora of film looks available. The new objective is to go beyond film emulation into what makes film look desirable.
To realize this, we devised a pipeline to incorporate multiple layers of look adjustments. But that’s already possible in Resolve? What’s different? This pipeline uses a custom color space to allow non-destructive adjustments, thereby facilitating the creation of intricate and subtle looks. Moreover, it aims to transcend the conventional controls and the fundamental mathematics of Davinci Resolve, offering a pretty foolproof approach to color grading that is at par with current innovations in color science.

How does the Filmverse color science differ from Revolve 19's new Filmic Look Creator
Also wasn't it $249 last month? It's now $349! No offense, but DCTL's should probably be a lower price point to a certain extent because of Resolve 19's new features. I know it's still in beta, but come on.
Best emulation from digital to film has to be "The Holdovers" film. Closest thing I have ever seen that matches it. Albeit, wardrobe, set dec, sound recording has a big play ofc.
Succession series also has a spot on film emulation aesthetics.

A fair comparison is our plug-in and filmbox. What makes this different is what we are trying to chase here. I’m personally not a big fan of chasing a look, whatever that “look” might be. And problem with a lot of plug-in, and presets out there is that they aren’t kept keeping usability and intuition in mind. So when you start with Dehancer or say Resolves new film plug-in, you still have to pull a decent number of levers to attain the sweet spot. Our plug-in attempts to question, what if the sweet spot is just one of many possible look outcomes? And what if a better color model is indeed the answer we are looking for?
I highly suggest you download a demo and test it out.
It’s hard for me to distill everything in the comment, but I’m sure next update will put things in perspective. It’s expected to release by mid May, or earlier.
The plugin is awesome and would love to buy it but I’m just a student and it’s too pricey is there any way you can reduce the price?
Davinci Resolve 19 is coming soon with almost all of these features for free :)

Watermarked one lasts forever, but incase you want to try it without watermark, DM us :) it lasts for short, but allows you to try out everything that we have built over good span of time - without watermark.

This is fantastic! Here's curve ball question for you guys! I wanna use this for my photography! I want to be able to take stills from my camera, use this thing of yours to make great LUTS, then transform the LUTS into Lightroom presets. I have done this before, and it works great! However, the only thing that is stopping me, is I don't know what to do with the color space transform. I use a Fujifilm, and it can't really shoot stills in log format as far as I know. Can one use REC709 as the input since the images coming out of camera is pretty "standard" so to speak?
I wish the color space transform tool in Davinci resolved had camera profiles just like Lightroom does, but it doesn't.
What's your tip around this? Do some basic correction to the image to make it as "standard" as possible and have REC 709 as input on the first node?
Can can surely try using input as Rec709. Enable luminance mapping, with max inputs set to 10,000. Not the rightest way to preserve details, since we are going from a smaller color space to a bigger color space. But since we are working with still images there shouldn’t be much loss in terms of visual value as the final output is Rec709.
But I suspect a better workaround might already be out there somewhere on the internet. Let me read into this! Why don’t you drop by on Instagram? let me share what I can find :)

If I buy this, will I be able to use this on multiple computers? Also, is it recommended to shoot with filters when achieving this film look, the modern style specifically. Ik the digital cameras today are super sharp and unnatural
License comes with two seats :)
Filters are fully subjective and dependent on nature of project, you can de-sharp upto an extent in post - but if the requirement of the project is to tell a story with “filmic look” as a character itself - maybe filters can be a good idea…

i have a question, when I play the video in Davinci Resolve the colors always changing and when I pause it, it comes back to the original with more saturation. Why is that?
We are facing similar issue on Resolve 19. It seems most (not all) of the OFX effects - if sandwiched between CST nodes are facing similar issues. DCTL plug-in is no different.
On a different machine with DR 18, the issue never occurs. Similar reviews by peers and other users. Probably a DR beta bug, hopefully gets resolved with the final update.
- V1.3 has transforms built in, this wont be an issue even if final Resolve update doesn’t fix this bug.

Hi! Tell me, can I use bmcc 2.5k bmpaw material, using FilmVerse, to achieve such effects - an oily overflow of shades of green (video1) and an extensive halo of glow affecting the rest of the colors (video2)?

You are correct. However, we are - in a way liable to release these videos about our recently launched plug-in. This goes both ways - for customers who want to learn how to fully utilise what they have put their money in, and for us to make sure we are in constant feedback loop with a bigger audience to know what holds actual market in a sea of oversaturated market :)

Now - as a business, we also have to make a decent number of decisions for luring new people in. People out there who might be in the right spot for exploring emulation as a tool for future look development? And that’s where all the flashy-clickbaity stuff comes in.
