You really helped me decide I don’t need this game. First, it’s price is hefty for the all-in pledge, $450 shipped. Second, I own Mage Knight & Runebound and hardly play them, with the former I’ve never touched (it’s been 2 years now). Third, I’m a Chip Theory fan and with Elder Scrolls coming around the corner, I might as well save my money for that. Thanks for the much needed video. We need this format of video for gamers.
Thanks for this post. Its cool to see that this video helped some make the decision to NOT get it. This is going to be an amazing experience for some but it does not mean it’s meant for everyone. Your logic makes perfect sense on passing here.
@@theMCGuiREreview don’t get me wrong the game would be perfect for me, just coupled with the things I listed I can’t justify spending that much for a game that’s most likely going to sit and get played once or twice. Mage Knight is sooo heavy I haven’t got it to the table yet. Plus I’m really looking forward to Elder Scrolls which will be hefty in price as well. I so want this game just need to tell myself I don’t NEED it.
Same here, I am a chiptheory fan. I would enjoy Euthia but cannot justify paying the high price. I am not into miniatures, and compared to chiptheory the quality of the components is just not there for 100's of $.
@@RapidCancel thanks to OP for justifying why I'm not backing Euthia. Another reason OP failed to mention was: mini's can break. Usually in shipping before painting. And without a clear means to get a replacement. I've yet to have a broken standee.
This is a great format for overviews of KS games like this! I have become very jaded about new campaigns because they have all become a blur of “hundreds of amazing miniatures” and grand adventure. This lets me know whether the style is what I like, whether there is a need for it, and whether it is worth pulling the trigger.
I both thank you and hate you-I’ve been teetering back and forth with this one-especially since I’ve backed very little the past year. One selling point that I’m not sure you mentioned is that this is a 2nd edition. If this was a 1st edition, I would absolutely skip it-especially with that price point, but it really has a lot going for it. Liked this video-subscribe.
This was a really great format, especially the comparing to what type of game this is. I have been eyeing MK, but to be honest the graphical style just kills my enthusiasm over it. I do not own any of the other games you named, but I love ARPGs on the PC, and if this is really Diablo on the table, I am sold.
Thanks, I found this video extremely helpful and made me realize that this is a game I need in my (small) collection. However the question then becomes which pledge to back. This game was much more expensive than I anticipated. The Core pledge + deluxe is $285 while the all-in is $409. While the all-in is a lot more than I intended, the difference isn’t huge if I want the deluxe components. The expansions look fun but I don’t know whether I really want it or it’s just FOMO. I don’t know how much the expansions plus add-ons are really going to add to an already repayable game.
Yes - it is tough with this one and any that follow the “KS exclusive” approach. The decision is, do you really need the expansion stuff? The core with deluxe upgrades will offer all the experience you need and a ton of replays. I think this one comes down to the extra cash you either have or do not have. It all adds up, the last place you want to be is over committing and then regretting it. I went in $440 with Joan of Arc and totally regret it as its just so much it will never all be played. Frankly over half of it will be sold this year (still in the shrink). I will get my money back though as some of those items are sought after. So if this does in-fact truly stay only on KS, the extra items could be an investment if you never play. It should always come down to “Do you have the expendable cash, never FOMO”.
Fantastic video - I am squarely in this zone. I thought Sanctum was Diablo - having barely played the video game or Sanctum. Thoughts on Euthia vs. Hexplore It!: VotDK? I have not jumped on Euthia because MK can feel like work and I have heard Euthia described as more puzzly than Runebound 2 or 3. All the games you pilled out to stack up are one-shot adventures. How is Euthia as a one-shot?
Its good as single play but definitely more invested than something like runebound. What i mean is it obviously has more components and size so it would take longer to setup / mess with than getting a single small box out like runebound.
So good review and unusual that I subscribe your channel ! But I have a question … I checked all the review, and keep asking myself, and I am a true fan of Mage Knight, Runebound really and Sanctum that is so undervalued … and when you said that Runebound, I have 2th and 3th edition, and I won’t ask if that duplicate the experience, but knowing that these will always stay in my collection, must I go to Euthya… and If I do it and I am on budget, would you go the the second expansion or the deluxe option… One of my turnoff was the big deal on setting and closing the game , the overwhelming numbers of components on the table…at first Imsaid no just for that, and one of the other component said a thing about keeping money for CTG elders scrolls… But sure thing if it is Diablo in a box, is the core pledge enough ?
Here is how I look at most of these campaign based titles. The core pledge is almost always enough. The core pledge will keep you busy for a long time and offers a good amount of replayability. You are generally just getting more of the same with board game expansions unless they offer completely different mechanics or you specifically want to explore the new areas offered.
So I have one question, for me I love the games you showed at the beginning of the video so on paper Euthia is the kind of game I know I will love and enjoy however I found out that I don't enjoy games that have rulebooks that take days to read and yes I said days because English is a second language, now I don't mind having to check references for tokens or cards or characters I have no problem with that, but I need an easy to learn game with an easy to read and understand rulebook, so how easy is this game to learn? Let's say a scale between 1 and 10, 1 being very easy to learn games like Runebound and 10 Mage Knight, where does this game fit?
I found this video after learning Euthia will be back on Kickstarter yet again. I passed on the previous campaigns and I still don't know if it's for me. Do players feel like they're part of an evolving narrative. Are the missions and story telling compelling?
Thanks for watching. I will be doing a video on the upcoming expansion, you may want to check that out and I’m sure it will be in the KS page. I’m a fan of this game
Wow - thats hard as they are very different experiences. Tainted grail is a rush to maintain the board as its exposed and very story heavy. The only draw back to Grail is once you explore all the story lines the game may come to a close for you but it would be like 100 game hours to probably do that (for base and expansions). Euthia is replay-able indefinitely as the game is not driven by story scripts to be read as you explore. I own both and i am a big fan of Tainted Grail. Grail is an amazing solo experience.
@@theMCGuiREreview Forget to ask you about the solo experience in Euthia, is it just a gimmick or fully solo able … and must we use the 2 characters approach or is it fully enjoyable solo with one characters?

Solo is amazing as well and it feels more lax and you have control over everything. With multi-player it is a little more rush to certain spots to get things first, were the solo you can take your time and go places when its really best for you.
That box size may well be enough of a reason to pass. Is it seriously that big or am I hallucinating? Or is that some special All-In box and there’s a base box that’s smaller?
Do you really love wow the adventure game? I think that is the worst adventure board game I've played in my life. But I love rune bound 2 nd edition, best game ever, my favourite game.
