I work on a rich running stromberg ZS carb for a 76 MGB. A warped water choke ( with bad previous "fix") and a bad diaphragm weren't the only reasons it wouldn't run right.
i've got a TD that runs rich on the rear carb as evidenced by looking at the plugs. if i lean out the mixutre, it starts running rough and hot. i'm beginning to suspect the needles too.
I’m trying to get the idle fuel mixture sorted out on an 80 MGB. I can’t really find anything that guides me through that or what the course and fine screws are doing. The only thing I’ve seen happening is some popping out the tailpipe when returning to idle after high rpms. What is that a symptom of.
I have always followed John Twist’s advice and locked down the course and fine adjustment screws, then adjusted like an SU from there. The poppet valve on the butterfly can cause issues if the spring has weakened, so I usually solder it shut as well ( another Twist recommendation) popping on the over run can be from that poppet valve or the air pump, assuming everything else is in good nick and adjusted properly (cam, valve adjustment, timing, etc…)
Always an outstanding video and presentation.
Wow, thank you!
Great video
