@@itsacookie1 iPhone over processes photos. The Sony is for people that know what they're doing with a camera, not the point and click quick shots you get with other smart phones. That's why the iPhone doesn't win blind camera tests.
@@JoeGillian0 Really? The iPhone at first glance looks like it was shot in better lighting but really it's kind of washed and made his gray hoody look white. With the Xperia you can see the pores on his nose and on the iPhone those details are smudged.

You can tell from video at 1:45 that the iphone colors pop. Pretty typical of most phones, over contrast.... But it tells you nothing "about" the photo. It's just pleasant looking, unmemorable video. The Sony tells you something about the photo: it's actually a really sunny day, the taxi's paint is old, dull & flaking, but the owner waxes it, hence the shiny chrome & glass, signs are clear, Marco looks like he's sweating, likely since his outfit is deep black. Shadows in the bridge look more natural. It's memorable--you know what type of day it was. I think Sony wins this round. Though as usual, Sony AF always fails in motion.
in my opinion they are comparable .. sometimes the iPhone is better (for example in low light conditions) and sometimes the Sony (the colors are more real and less yellowish ).. Sony has done a great job, I currently have a iPhone but sony is the only android i would buy..
Xperia 1 V wins in most cases (especially in good lighting). Sony has finally done it. Just the right amount of computational photography in their Auto mode. iPhone selfies look so harsh and oversharpened and too much contrast. Xperia selfies look great, they look natural & realistic.
I disagree, Sure, iPhone oversharpens things, but it's photos don't have motion blur, all 3 cameras are calibrated to show the same white balance and exposure. Camera switch on video is seamless, and it handles HDR in night scenes (in bright too - car video doesn't have as much of overexposed areas and at the same time the underexposed aren't darker). The most disappointing thing is motion blur. All iPhone pictures are sharp not only because of filters, but also because there's no motion blur. Microphone on Xperia is worse (maybe because of noise filter, or water proof, but iphone is also waterproof, but the quality is outstanding. Focus is still wandering on video (you can see the focus adjusting using full amplitude). Lensflares adding red overlay in the sun. And I'm not sure, but I think it could still have this thing where you take a photo of a document and text on the edges gets distorted by the lens (my Z1c did that, my 5 II does that). Sure, Xperia has made some progress, but it's definitely not a win.
@user-ix2tc4yb6v it wins big time in manual mode, though. Treating the phone like a real camera can give you near dslr quality photos. The color science is much better, too. Certainly, the iPhone has much better point and shoot photos, but the Sony Xperia has more potential quality
@@wesleythompson451 Sony has the potential, yes, but things like HDR and OIS, for example, can't be controlled in manual mode. I don't know if they fixed this (the certainly don't fix software on devices, the fix it between models only), but I lay my phone on the ground at night, set exposure to 30s, focus to infinity, and see blurry smudged stars, because OIS can't be steady (maybe it reacts to a gyroscope measurement noise, but come on, on the flat ground). Also, it's a phone, not a DSLR, it has to offer good point and click camera - that's a "don't miss your moment" camera that you carry in your pocket. Similar to DSLRs having good auto mode, even though even less people will use it. The pro mode is cool too - good feature for enthusiasts, who are good at it, but iirc, iPhone has pro mode too..
I mentioned this to Robin Williams on he's first video but he didn't want to acknowledge this as it states on the Xperia 1V Specs it only does 4k 30fps for some reason he also didn't acknowledge all 3 back cameras record 4k120fps too
A mixed bag on both devices. Some pics will look better on one and then the other. Hard to say. It would be nice to have an Xperia 1 V deep dive showing how the pro features work and what kinds of results you get with certain settings.
Sony's colour is more natural, and the night shots are great! However, the iphone looks much more pleasant with the better dynamic range and sharper image...Talking about the phone, I am a SD card and 3.5mm jack fans, Xpeeia 1 will definitely my best choice! But why the sharpness and dynamic range are still so weak in nowadays...
Hot dang , 4:01 the sony pulls out perfect textures and contrast compared to the iphone. Anyways, give me a phone with amazing RAW, natural looking photos and control over my phones any day. Xperia FTW
I find any and all phone camera comparisons suspect at best. First of all nobody watching these comparisons knows what the actual subject matter really looked like because we were not there. Also, all of us are watching on different quality screens ourselves which can severely skew the results. On top of that the quality of any photo is like the sound of music in that we all perceive sounds and colors and sharpness differently from one another. And finally the vast majority of people look at their photos and videos on a 6 inch screen! For the last several years nearly ALL phones have had more than adequate photo/video capabilities. I feel that the camera on a communications device is the very LEAST thing of importance! There are so many more functions that need to be improved upon and yet cameras, like small bezels, are what get the most attention whether it's deserved or not! SMH
See I still look at Samsung and Apple as creating pictures with software and not taking photos, difference being take a good photo and you took it (considered the light source, the colours the background etc) but take a good picture with iPhone and it took it/created it. Looking just at those first few, there's one where the iPhone has the sun in shot and there is no flare, and I would definitely expect to see some in that shot. But more than that, the red sign in the side on taxi photos.. look at how bright the sun is, the reflection on the car and windows.. but that sign is a brilliant gloss red. When compared to the Sony you can see the reflections on it. The shadow one I think highlights the image recognition that is going on. On the wide and main camera, the iPhone is much sharper, and the shadow is almost jet black while the white is brilliant white. But then on the zoom both cameras are much more similar..the iPhone isn't recognising a person's shadow and subsequently it's no where near as black and the white line also looks more true to life
I watched this on a 4K monitor and to be honest, both phones have their good and bad points. iPhone seems slightly better in keeping the highlights detailed whereas the Sony washes them out, but the Sony seems to do a better job in the night sky. I felt the iPhone was better... In day time, and good light, the Sony just pipped the iPhone (see the taxi headlights) but overall, both were as good as the other... The Sony is the better for range with that telescopic lens. I have been an iPhone user since day one only having one hiccup when I sold the iPhone 5 for a Samsung Galaxy many years ago (only had it a short time before going back to the iPhone, then another glitch when I bought a Blackberry 10 (an even shorter time with that one) before going back. Now, I find myself wanting the Sony Experia 1 V for the cameras but not the OS... I don't trust Google/Andriod but I know much of the 'spyware' can be turned off in the menus. I'm heavily into the Apple ecosystem with iPhone, iPad, Watch and Mac so moving from the iPhone to the Sony is a disruptive move... I'm tempted though. Both phones are good camera systems, but... You still can't beat a camera for night time photography.
First of all we have to take into account that Sony is fresh so it doesn't have no patches or updates. The main cameras are on par where Sony have slightly better colors and apple slightly better dynamic range in my opinion.Where there is no natural lights again Sony produce a slightly better picture but apple is slightly better on highlights. The ultra wide and the zoom are inconsistent on Sony but when they work they look on par with now stable iphone. There will be improvements on Sony for sure and maybe faster with this device. The video as image quality is again in my opinion better on the iphone and it seems from the other reviews that I've seen that is a common problem with the video being unstable on the Sony. The good part is that Sony is getting real closer with the basic camera mode. The best part for me is that the combination between this basic mode and the camera apps creats the best camera experience in the business ( in my opinion). For me music is important and now Sony is by far the best ( the multitude of codecs and wired possibility are the reasons), the camera is as important for me and for me this is the best overall camera experience (good, usable basic app but excellent and feature pack camera and video Pro apps).
Sony is better specially on capture using photopro app. Yes artificial artificial colour looks better on iPhone just like a filter adding with Chinese phones. If anybody already using Mirrorless cameras, then they actually like more realistic realistic approach on SONY.

Thanks for the video. Finally some one cared to show the performance of all the lens in different conditions 👍. After my experience with Sony Xperia 1 IV, am pretty disappointed with its performance in evening or low light conditions. I see the only improvement here is with main camera for 1 V (and it is even struggling with bright lights but significantly better). And for video in low light ultra-wide, selfie and telephoto lens are pretty bad. I hope Sony will improve sensor type on all lens with 1 VI.
iPhone over Sony again, but sometimes Sony , but it's more like 90 % for iPhone. If Sony produces lenses, sensors, why they are not able to make good software? I am Sony fan (i have a few mirrorless Sony cameras, and a few lenses) , but in phones, I probably wouldn't choose it over iPhone, or Samsung, or something like Huawei p60 pro
It’s a real shame, as I am big Sony fan, but the iPhone looks so much better in every aspect. Imagine what happens when the 15 pro comes out. It’s going to be even better!
Xperia is the best Even you did not record the video in the front camera with video pro because in the video pro you can recording with 4k 60 fps that's really make a different
Even though the iphone maxes out at 3x zoom you couldnt zoom in digitaly to 5,2 for better comparison? sometimes the software still enhances the photo right? and or makes still a 12mp photo for example :)
This is the problem with heavy computational photography. The moment you put against realism ... It falls flat. The Sony pics look real ... iPhone pics look artificially great.
@Roman Shocker no one have time for manual mode. Only Sony fans try and justify this crap. Do not bash a reviewer when they do not want to put in work to do this. Just accept it and move on.
It looks like IP14 has HDR permanently on, which really helps, but the color shift and underexposure looks strange. Xperia on the other hand looks a bit too overexposed, but that may just be the lack of HDR.
You choose some blurry pic of Xperia 1V It's Because of your shaking hand Should Not Be Sony camera's Fault You Didn't mentioned about Auto night mode on/off about Sony's Camera.....
I didn't chooser any shaky pictures on purpose. In fact, there were multiple images that I captured 2-3 shots with the Sony because they were blurry and completely unusable.
Sony's main sensor is much better, but the rest of the sensors need to be improved. iPhone is unbeatable in video mainly because of its HDR, but in photos it is overprocessed.
Don't you see in the video how yellow the car is while sony shows real color of the car also the man after the car was so reddish on iPhone while on Sony his skintone was preserved ..
The colour science on the iPhone is WELL OFF and you can tell the iPhone is Not natural images. Look at the building shots, you can tell when a photo is over processed when you see a white halo around the top of the building, whilst the Sony does not have that issue. Sony wins AGAIN
Natural colours are unnecessary for 99% of photos taken by average consumers. It is how good they look for sharing, and the iPhone clearly wins in that. Why does Samsung get so much praise for its vivid over-saturated photos? Because that is what users want to see!
totally agree with you. No matter how many other manufacturers praise their cameras with inch sensors, but as they begin to compare vs iPhone's camera, they all lose )
@@carver9312 yeah. Even OnePlus 8 pro with right GCAM can compete with iPhone 14 PM. Some users don't want to do any extra actions, but it's definitely not my problem.

I think you butchered the Experia by not using it as intended. Most people who buy it know how to do some photography, I see that you missed to utilize the video features such as 120hz... but still good job.
The same applies to the iPhone. I can improve photos many-fold by using pro apps. So that is why tests like this are made in default auto-mode for a base. The problem is that video on the Sony is sub-par and I am not sure you can fix that with a pro app.
You have a point, but for example many in the photography community is already familiar with Sony apps interface... I'm not sure if I can say the same thing about iPhone. I gave iphone a try for 1.5 year and I couldn't wait to get out of that ecosystem (I couldn't even figure out a proper way to extract my files to windows pc without so much shenanigans) so not sure what's pro about it if someone doesn't have a MacBook to accompany it. That's just an example. Regardless sony doesn't have excuse to not make one app that will have all the features in Auto mode given most customers want accessibility and convenience. They shouldn't punish those customers who just like to use it as point and shoot.
@@azhynh1898 Yes, I understand many Sony users will be more inclined to use the pro apps, but as you say, this should not preclude Sony from giving us a tremendous auto-mode experience, and there are no excuses.
Could you do an extra video comparing the video stabilization (mostly at night time) of the 2 phones main cameras? in Auto settings but also trying the Sony with a 1/200 shutter speed to reduce the jitters that plagues every phone in low light (or just comment about it in case you tested already^^)
And this is just a result of their computational prowess. The Sony wins in most cases and i phone in others. But once yiur delve into manual mode, that's where the difference is massive. That's meant for those who understand how to use a professional camera.
What are the thermals like when recording video on the mk V? I have the mk IV and it doesn't take long before the phone overheats. Would be interested to find out 👍
As an overall camera module as whole, the Sony slaps the Iphone. But they lack the AI and computational photography. Sony relies on manual settings, which is fine for the pro user, but the average Joe won't do all that manual stuff
I just bought Xperia and I'm really disappointed by video quality and stabilization. I have used S23U and 14 Pro, when I watch Video recorded with them on bigger screen, xperia one is so blurry, not smooth, and in general much worse. On this samples video looks much better than recorded by my phone. Is is possible that it can have issues while recorded from hand not any holder, etc ?

I am Sony fan (i have a few mirrorless Sony cameras, and a few lenses) , but in phones, I probably wouldn't choose it over iPhone, or Samsung, or something like Huawei p60 pro
Correction the selfie camera can shoot 4k 60
Did you use basic mode on the Sony? Basically mode on sony is mediocre. Switching to manual changes the game
Sony has the colors on it.
It’s a real shame, as I am big Sony fan, but the iPhone looks so much better in every aspect. Imagine what happens when the 15 pro comes out. It’s going to be even better!
dude 1 v is like 14 so the honest battle must pro i mk2 vs 14 pro
Very true
Xperia is the best Even you did not record the video in the front camera with video pro because in the video pro you can recording with 4k 60 fps that's really make a different
Sony camera blows out all the highlight while iPhone controls is really well with lots of details.
Even though the iphone maxes out at 3x zoom you couldnt zoom in digitaly to 5,2 for better comparison? sometimes the software still enhances the photo right? and or makes still a 12mp photo for example :)
You keep discrediting this 4K 60fps selfie camera don't you Robin Williams, also all the back cameras do 4K 120fps
I thought the Sony Xperia shot 4K @ 120fps. Must depend on the app you're using.
Yes, I misspoke in the video. It can do 120fps in certai nscenarios.
This is the problem with heavy computational photography.
The moment you put against realism ... It falls flat.
The Sony pics look real ... iPhone pics look artificially great.
I'm not even an iPhone fan and I think Apple did far better here.
@@carver9312 on a basic mode not intended for the camera lol...this is not the best results from sony
@Roman Shocker no one have time for manual mode. Only Sony fans try and justify this crap. Do not bash a reviewer when they do not want to put in work to do this. Just accept it and move on.
@Roman Shocker if sony would've won in auto mode, you wouldn't be crying like this
@@carver9312 There is a Basic Mode and an Auto Mode on the xperia, they do different amounts of computational photography
What about manual mode plz plz show us the different plz again plz
Sony can go 4k120p
It looks like IP14 has HDR permanently on, which really helps, but the color shift and underexposure looks strange. Xperia on the other hand looks a bit too overexposed, but that may just be the lack of HDR.
It's on par with the iPhone slightly better on video
You choose some blurry pic of Xperia 1V
It's Because of your shaking hand
Should Not Be Sony camera's Fault
You Didn't mentioned about Auto night mode on/off about Sony's Camera.....
@@andyH_England that's that users like YOU want to see. I want to see nice accurate colours and that's why I use Sony.
@The SFC: Sony Phone and PC Hardware Channel The iPhone has presets with a natural mode.
hate to say it because I'm forever an Android user, but Iphone does have the most reliable and most consistent mobile phone camera in the market
Who lied to you?
totally agree with you.
No matter how many other manufacturers praise their cameras with inch sensors, but as they begin to compare vs iPhone's camera, they all lose )
S23u, oppo find x6 pro
@@borshisme agreed
@@carver9312 yeah. Even OnePlus 8 pro with right GCAM can compete with iPhone 14 PM. Some users don't want to do any extra actions, but it's definitely not my problem.
is it worth changing from iPhone 14 Pro to the Sony Xperia 1V ?
Iphone win pretty easy but it's over processed with sharpness and hdr stacking for example.
I wanted to see more comparison of human photos.
Thanks you.🎉🎉🎉🎉😊Xperia❤
i expected lot more from that new sensor of sony and selfies improved from last year yes but we all know we love that selfie on iphone, I'm a sony fan and really like sony ecosystem and design and that gorgeous display or powerful speakers
but i expect a flagship selfie camera and that new sensor to beat every other flagships cameras
@@andyH_England but the pro apps in sony is totally free
What can I say, iPhone looks saturated and Xperia looks dull.
I think you must tell us which is more accurate compared to the naked eye.
Could you do an extra video comparing the video stabilization (mostly at night time) of the 2 phones main cameras? in Auto settings but also trying the Sony with a 1/200 shutter speed to reduce the jitters that plagues every phone in low light (or just comment about it in case you tested already^^)
Indoor iphone 14 looks elegant outdoor Sony is so natural and the best zooming segment 👌👍
SONY 👑
And this is just a result of their computational prowess. The Sony wins in most cases and i phone in others. But once yiur delve into manual mode, that's where the difference is massive. That's meant for those who understand how to use a professional camera.
What are the thermals like when recording video on the mk V? I have the mk IV and it doesn't take long before the phone overheats. Would be interested to find out 👍
overheating issue has been rectified apparently with new sensor..
SONY😍😍
was the Pro Mode of the Sony camera used in this test?
As an overall camera module as whole, the Sony slaps the Iphone. But they lack the AI and computational photography. Sony relies on manual settings, which is fine for the pro user, but the average Joe won't do all that manual stuff
The selfie cam video isn't bad, you just holding it too close to your face so it couldn't focus lol
S23U vs Xperia V is highly regarded!
Sony ❤
Wow sony 🎉🎉🎉
please do a Sony vs Pixel comparison
Sony did gud 😊
I just bought Xperia and I'm really disappointed by video quality and stabilization. I have used S23U and 14 Pro, when I watch Video recorded with them on bigger screen, xperia one is so blurry, not smooth, and in general much worse. On this samples video looks much better than recorded by my phone. Is is possible that it can have issues while recorded from hand not any holder, etc ?
Ok it’s TK bay, Joshua Vergara, and who’s that other guy
Sony the best camerfon
Please show us Sony vs Google
I wish I could, but Sony asked for the phone back already.
I have heard that Sony will not allow any 1 1V to be used in trade against a new 1 V?. Somebody please tell me this isn't true.
Extremely low details on trees at 1:49 (iPhone14). To much compute.
Now put them both in manual mode.
......
Oh wait.
Good Comparison video❤
Sony's main camera is way better, plus telephoto lenses on Sony's is again way better, ultrawide sony edged it,thought the iphone was better on the selfy camera but, overall Sony's camera was way better in all aspects.
The dynamic range on sony always horrible i hope they fix it
Even if I wanted Sony to win, I have to admit the Iphone gives well better pics. And not speaking about "natural colors" as it's not what lambda people are requesting to a phone, this is more for professionals with... better camera
Overall iPhone wins, front facing and ultra wide. Sony wins main sensor and telephoto. In my opinion.
(Some shots in each category were reversed ofc just overall from watching the whole video)
Xperia 1V can video 4k120 on all the 3 lens. iPhone only 4k60
Sony is king
Yes, only naked king ))
naked king is still a king.
I live in Bangladesh I regularly watch videos from Bangladesh. I hope to get a reply❤
Can I add you on Instagram?❤❤
Xperia wins because I will never buy iphone again.
why
in daylight iphone colors look bright and pleasing to the eye......

Wtf Robin Williams reviewing phones 😱😱
iPhone wins but Sony is not far behind and I'm glad that they are not too far behind.
these are pre release phone shots in the case of the sony
Even though I'm very interesting with Xperia 1 v, iPhone still doing its job on the video side, thx ur share!
Huge huge jittering when filming by Xperia, not acceptable at all
Why not compare the best results from sony Xperia by letting someone that knows how to use it , use it lol. Then compare the best computational results from iphone a d compare it to Sony's best pro mode results....thus comparison makes no sense, might as well buy pixel phone.
Someone how to use it? Please tell how.

In some photos/videoa sony looks much better, in some iphone. Maybe for some reasons, options.
Sony better 🎉🎉🎉
With all the improvements that sony made (Cpu 40% faster - Heat dissipation 60% better- loudspeakers with 40% more bass-improved cameras and software) i was expecting much, much better results from sony.
In this video with all kind of samples side by syde, the image quality on iphone was most of the time better ( i would say 80 % of the time) .
Only the tele lens was better on Sony.
Sony Xperia beautiful camera phone
Luckily I never use the front facing camera IRL.
