How to use a portable butane stove

  • How to install the butane canister and use a portable butane stove.
I bought this stove myself and it is not a paid review.
Below are affiliate links with 3 choices of butane stoves. One without and one with butane canisters, and one with the option to hook up a propane tank, I just recently got the dual butane and propane stove because my first one in this video was crushed during our last move and I wanted the ability to hook up to a propane stove for longer cooking if I wanted. It works well with the included adapter.
    1. You can get a butane stove like this here: amzn.to/2UY3lDn
    2. Butane stove and 4 canisters of butane: amzn.to/3c80T2S
    3. Dual fuel stove - both butane and propane:
    amzn.to/2VjIZDA
    4. Where to buy Butane cans: Sam's club sells a pack of 4 butane canisters - best price I've seen. You can also find them in the camping section of big box stores and Asian markets.

I bought one of these at an estate sale a few weeks ago for $5.00; What a great little find.

I understand being nervous, but you were amazing. Thanks so much.😃 I'm moving out of state from an apartment that has gas range, which I love & is perfect when the power goes out, but the apartments I've fallen in love with all have electric which I really hate. Thanks to you I know my other option, not only if I lost power, but also if I need to cook something quickly and not worry how hi/low setting or wait around for temp adjustment (& now for outdoors too, Yaay).

Thank you so much! We have a big storm coming and it's got super windy over the last hour or so. Just waiting for power to go off...(not alarmist but... lots of trees around here ready to fall on power lines lol) Thank you as I watched this to remember how my portable butane stove works - haven't used it for a while. i was use to a gas stove that ignites as soon as i turn the knob so i thought it didn't work at first until i realized you have to turn the knob all the way to the bottom to ignite. lol Your video was the only one I've seen that demonstrated that.

    • @livingtherufflife

Late reply, but I should have mentioned that you have to hear a click for the fire to ignite but it seemed to help others just listening to me turn the knob. Thanks for watching.

I have one of these and it is excellent. I would note that I always use a fairly small pan, so as not to drive heat outwards towards the top of the gas compartment. Apparently using a very large pan can cook off the fuel canister.

Sounds like a good plan. You may want to look into a gravity water filter system like Berkey so as long as you can access any type of water, you can filter it, so you won't need to store as much water. Another option of these stoves has an adapter for propane, if you have one of those, you'll have another source for heat.

I bought a Flame King branded one from eBay and it came with a regulator hose that works with a portable pre-filled 16oz. PROPANE tank or an optional refillable 16oz. PROPANE tank. Two fuel options. The small 8oz. Butane canisters can also be used by plugging it into the RECEPTACLE (Yes, that is the right term for it.) inside the slot on the side of the stove. It is better than this one in this video because the butane canisters are kinda hard to find in the local hardware stores. It's not even in Ace Hardware where they sell camping equipment. It's weird really. They sell the PROPANE pre-filled 16oz. tanks in every Home Depot and Lowe's stores. Never found any butane canisters anywhere but eBay and Amazon and it is more expensive there with shipping and tax. Could have been cheaper in the hardware stores.

Thanks for your comment. I have the other one also. Walmart and Sams & Asian markets carry butane canisters.
