I have as my run-around 2nd vehicle, a 2000 Buick Lesabre. 218k, no rust, no leaks. Decent power, good fuel economy. Drives like a couch on wheels. Paid $700 from a Christian school in Lethbridge. I love the GM 3800

Sounds like you got a bargain there! nYes the 3.8 was a good engine for sure.

I try to buy from weathy neighborhoods & gated communities. Always look at the background where the car pics are taken.
Last year I stumbled on an 06 corolla with a for sale sign in window (you never see that anymore ) so I knew it was a senior citizen. Got it for 4500 in BC. Drove absolutely perfect. No oil burning. Drove it a year and gave to my daughter. Then I found a 98 corolla fully loaded for 3000. Put about 600 into trans service ; plugs wires etc. and that one was parked in a wealthy neighborhood with a senior gentleman selling it. I’ve never lost out using that formula. Another thing. Always have cash ready to go, or you can easily miss out. And make yourself stand out to them with your good online communication skills.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a great strategy indeed. I do pay attention to these things as well as little things like flat tires or worn seats and rock chips are all indications of an overall neglect

Damn in 1982 worked at a grocery store and old vehicles by other kids selling vehicles for under 100 dollars. They ran too. Older vehicles more dependable than today vehicles. All these recalls on brand new vehicles add yo future new vehicle prices.
Just make a vehicle dependable to start. Instead they rush vehicles to the market without property testing them.

You are right many older vehicles simply just keep going and even if they croak, they are cheap to fix

Driving the point home (pun intended) just because the car loses value, does not mean the parts also depreciate. Add labor and you can find some ache in your wallet.

That's a good point. Especially true on luxury cars

great video again . I have a question to ask , not sure if it's possible to answer though . looking at buying a 2022 lexus rx350 ( no turbo , long term reliability a + ) would a lexus hybrid last just as long 🤫 . thank you
