As someone who grew up on this game, it's classic, despite being seen as a "bad game".....
I grew up on it too. Having played it recently its definitely a bad game, but the vibes are on point and it's still a classic to me:3
I've been on a castlevania kick lately and have been replaying this. I think this was a really ambitious project at the time and, unfortunately, 3D platforming being relatively new at that time is what brought this down. The gameplay mechanics and camerawork just really brought the experience down. Despite that though, this still felt like a castlevania game, more so than Lament of Innocence on PS2 did, if only they had nailed the gameplay
@@volta1984 I would love for a new dark atmospheric Castlevania like 64 did. The only castlevania that made me feel i was entering a dark haunted castle of hell. Not a disco fancy disco. Even with its horror elements. I dont mind an agile character but i would not like to use an "Anime" agile like Leon or Hector. It may be clunky but i like how Carrie and Reinhardt felt more vulnerable because of that. They can slide, sidestep and jump high. But not doing overboard acrobatics. It felt a bit more grounded. More....physical?
for sure, i didnt play it too much as a kid, but im a 90s dude so i grew up with the snes and 64 era and so on, and curiously, a few months ago i played it and beat it cuz i read that "it was a bad game" and when i finished it i was like, this is fucken great man, it was the first 3D Castlevania and it was that jump to the 3D, the OST is amazing, the atmosphere,

Had this game as a kid. Loved the super creepy atmosphere. I don’t care that some people say it’s a bad game. I freakin’ loved it.
You will see in this stage the old man named Charlie Vincent he may be walking around protecting himself from vampires with the small golden cross in this hand,the huge cross behind his back and the vampire killer kit😉👌👍!!!
