surely the guys who worked on the vehicle for him were very conservative, and thought 500bhp on a fwd needed the really aggressive traction control>

Agreed. It's a unique build and I always liked the FK2's and their more compact/coupe-like look over the FK8. I think it's really just the red accent pieces on the exterior that make it look a little cheap, and I would not have done YellowSpeed coilovers, especially spending that kind of money on a build. That machine deserves a good set of 2 or 3-way coilovers. Then again, I'm a suspension nerd, and that's something that can be changed in the future. Overall, it's a gnarly machine and I commend the owner!
Billy looks like hes just realised hes 60k deep and he would be better off in the 2.5k corsa c turbo from a few weeks back, thats the face you make before the tears come

I grew up in the days when traction control was not on cars so have my own traction control installed in my brain. This would drive me nuts, that TC is like the wife is saying slow down all the time.

@@billyfox4609 I know how you feel on the mapping side to be dissatisfied I had a car built up by garage whifbitz and the mapping was shocking it went back 4 times to be amended, but what shocks me with yours is romain is supposed to be the best in the business, I’m sorry you’ve spent all that money and not got what you wanted and what should be but surely racecal should have the car back and sort it for free after seeing this video
@@billyfox4609 I remember Romain when he was at Eurospec2000 in Guildford. His CR-X was on a different level. Between him and Ben they were two of the best tuners in the country.

Syvecs traction strategies are so clever unless you have a long time on the dyno room or road tuning you’ll may end up with a car that’s being more help than good.
Slip percentages could be changed to be a bit more wild or get a button and have it on a switch and have it switchable.
Weirdly this car although it would scramble it would likely feel faster all the way off.
Non the less it’s an epic build and there is super simple room for improvements only there.
Racecal and Romain are second to non so I’m sure that can be looks at.
That being said between YAW control and clamping I’m not sure how much control you have on a SYVECS on an FK2? Skys the limit if you have the inputs left and add the right sensors though.

Always did like this model, looks great in white! Wish Honda had stuck with this model and the quad pipes instead of the three pipes and the current shape

Unfortunately think this is a clear example that putting over 500hp through the fronts on a motor that ain’t totally setup for it just ain’t gonna work, I feel a well set up NA motor would probably do damage to this on the twisties. Blinding content as always though Ricky 👌🏻
Yep. High hp fwd just isn't the most ideal setup

Traction was cutting in like crazy even at higher speeds, can the syvecs tc be turned off ? Looks very stiff too. Amazing build possible needs a few tweaks to be more enjoyable, maybe 50 whp less and tc full off ?
Quality car would like to see Ricky revisit this if Billy can get the little niggles with the traction control sorted 👌🏻

Stunning looking car, needs to go to somewhere like Dynodaze or the same people the last guy on here set it up with. Not keen on the exhaust note I have a martelius on my old type R sounds beautiful this seems to be like the cats rattling or something? Man like Rick got the skills to drive it.
It's a sweet built and looks awesome too. It's a shame about the traction control issue. Hopefully he got it sorted. Only thing I didn't like was the exhaust note

Car looks awesome!! Great colour!! But can't help feeling a bit less would of been more with the power. I've bought a few bolt ons for my fk8 and looking to get a Paul West remap to about 400bhp which I feel is about right for fk civics. Can't work out if Billy was pissed off or bored shitless when Ricky was slating it??

Fine example of the importance to plan a build with well defined purpose from the start.
Can't help but feel a well driven standard one would show this thing a clean pair of heels along these roads it looks to be just a bit to stiff for B-roads and traction looks to be a big issue.

He needs to back the rebound of and soften it slightly to get the better traction. Also get his tuner to put variable traction system in place!

The traction control is either just set up too sensitive or the builder/tuner is trying to save its driveshafts and gearbox

Sort the Syvecs & tune the suspension setup a bit and it would be an absolute weapon.
Really nice motor, I’d be going elsewhere for a remap though and scrap the traction control while your on, you can do that with your right foot

You definitely want some form of TC with that power on a type R, just needs to be mapped better, it's acting like the stock TC on my type R, constantly cutting power and too intrusive, just needs a better setup.

Poor billy thought he was gonna get gassed up by Ricky but after the traction speech from Ricky he looked as if he just wanted to go home and cry. His big moment on llf didn’t go the way he wanted. Respect to billy for chucking all that money on his build not many people can, they spent it how he wanted it so no one can chat shit despite what my or anyones else opinions are on the car

@@davidmorris1735 yea of course I've just owned really expensive alloys from spoon sw3888s, BMW csl alloys and worked in the tyre trade. I know nothing even though I'm an engineer. Go and check about OEM alloys cracking before you bark in public

Front Suspension rebound is to slow to firm.
the car looks awesome but yeah it would be great to modify it according to the criticisms.. but it might be better to just sell and move on with something else

It's a clean build but I kinda feel bad for the guy,you can tell he's disappointed especially sinking in all that cash...
i could get one of my dream builds done with like 20 k, hell you can get a full on race car with the kind of money he's spending, and from what he said he doesn't even track this, really questionable investment even for a car guy
Owning an FK8 i can tell you all you need is a cooler, downpipe, intake and hondata...it wakens it up and then you not overdoing that power to the front wheels and disturbing the handling.
Have to agree. I'm about to install prl hvi intake, a titanium turbo inlet pipe and a invidia R400 exhaust and prl intercooler to my fk8. After a remap I should be looking at about 400bhp which I think is about right for these cars.
Met this car in person and let me tell you, the sound is unreal. Can just hear it's properly built. Angry.

i would never spend that money (i'd say 40k) in a car to just have less then 500whp on a fwd. if he spent the same on an old civic with a kswap i would be looking at an awd 1000hp fully built car

Can't keep the raw power down in powerful fwd car it's a given. Fantastic car though 👌
You should add a calibration switch and then have selectable 0-100% traction
or just accept that fwd doesn't mix well with big power
