Despite being a Dane myself and therefore doesn't speak Swedish, I am eternally grateful over the fact that the two languages are similar in some areas, meaning that while I don't understand everything completely, I still understand enough of it, for the lyrics to personally have a much bigger impact. My mother is from Sweden, and so I’ve spoken Swedish with her for as long as I can remember. Unfortunately, this has always meant that my vocabulary is mostly limited to things you’d talk to your mother about. This album has been very educational in that regard!

Lords prayer in Swedish sounds so powerful
I've always liked the Lords prayer in my native Swedish (by far the most common prayer to hear growing up here) and Sabaton really did it justice on this epic song.

A tremendous anniversary of Swedish history I assume
I war raised as a Polish Catholic but lost my faith as an adult. To hear the Lord's Prayer sung like this brought back a lot of memories, and I'll be if I didn't shed a tear.

Im Finnish and two of my ancestors fought in the army of Carolus Rex, one fought and died in the Battle of Napue and the second was
was one of the men who carried King Charles the XII back from the mountains of Norway. These two are some of the men i look up to
the most in my family and its great to hear about what kind of army and king they served back when they lived. I love Sabaton.
Nice ancestry. On one side of my side of my family we had altleast one carolean & mothers side we had Rehnskiöld Who was Charles right hand man and a cavalry general. Tho my great grandfather was a bastard
That must've been very sad for them. Dying in battle alone is already the biggest sacrifice they could make, and I could never imagine having to march miles and miles through the frozen mountains, let alone carrying my king's dead body

Did you know that Sweden and Spain fought each other during the Thirty Years' War? In the Battle of Nördlingen they met in a bloody battle where the Swedes first caught the Spaniards by surprise with their battle habits and tactics, but during the course of the battle the Spaniards turned to their advantage and finally won against the Swedes. They managed to take thousands of soldiers from the Swedish army as prisoners who they then tortured with various cruel methods.
I don't speak Swedish but this song makes me wish to. The only prayer I really need in life.

Have you studied Swedish on Groningen or are you just a language master? I can as Swedish understand some Dutch, about 20-30% of the words but full sentences are difficult.

@@ML_SE I learned it mostly through osmosis (by dint of watching virtually everything with Swedish subs if available, as well as consuming a lot of Swedish media.)
The grammar and shared vocabulary/structure with Dutch were definitely the most straightforward aspects, while developing any semblance of listening comprehension was nothing short of a nightmare. I still struggle with it (thankfully it’s no Danish)

I love how I nearly understand everything when listening to a Swedish Sabaton song like this one. But then again, I am Norwegian and we do get trained from early age to understand both Svenska and Dææænsk. Less so now, but I feel we should keep doing it.
As a Swede i only struggle with understanding much of spoken Danish while i have no issue communicating in speech with our Norwegian brothers and sisters:) Written form Danish is easy enough tho!
I just love Swedish language. It is hard to pronaunce, fun to listen to. And a challenge to learn.

Swedish is a language that truly shines when it is sung so it is a good reason to learn and practice the language in my opinion:)
Swedish is easy to learn, hard to fully master, and extremly difficult to pronance correctly (that every dialect have its very own phonetic system isn't exactly helpfull for anyone learning the language ether 😅)

I can’t believe it’s been nearly 8 years since I first heard the band, Wacken 2015, Swedish Pagans - been blown away so many times by Sabaton - a well needed tonic for an aging metal head - love them! *England* loves them!

I think my favorite thing about this band besides the topics they tackle (with one naming exception) is that they are actively releasing songs in another language. Like going back or jointly releasing a song in English and Swedish. I can’t think of any other band who goes above and beyond like that.
