The song was written by an artist named Baby Fuzz and a team of others at a bandcamp iirc.AJ did a demo recording at age 10 of it and I'm not sure if she got attached to the song as she replied to someone asking her recently about the song and said " Oh, it was just a demo" It actually lead to something though, some of the writers later teamed up with AJ and helped writing/composing on Angelina's own song Shield. STELLAR reaction, Fil! It's almost impossible to wrap your head around the fact that she did this demo at age 10, right ?? How is that even possible? Sounding like this, with SUCH an amount of soul and emotion ? The world is definitely her oyster. She put out a 6 song EP on July 21st this year, called Old Enough, which is just CRAZY good. SO far Republic Records hasn't done anything to promote her, I guess per Angelina and her family's premise, but that is soon to change. She will turn 18 on January 10th and next year will be her year. I am sure of it. And so is Republic Records. You know? Even before Angelina has generated a single dime in revenue, they just recently went ahead and built a recording studio exclusively for her to use. You betcha they have their plans and visions intact for her. And they know that she and her family are no push-overs, so I envision they will let her do her stuff, and just back it up. For a while I was amazed to see so many posts on social from Angelina in RR's studio. Many times it would be in the middle of the night with just Angie, Sara, Mery and Juliette ... nobody else in sight and they were just jamming, dancing and having a blast. I got the impression that Angie practically lived in the studio. Then in an interview (I think when she was back in Norway for concerts) she revealed that RR had built her a studio. To me, that shows tremendous respect that RR has for her and that she will be in control of her material.

People wonder how she can sing with so much emotion about subjects that she has not had the opportunity to live even remotely.

Not even a cover. She was the first to sing it. She recorded this version in 2016, at the age of 10. It was a demo to present to singers for purchase. Baby Fuzz, the songwriter, finding no takers, released his own version in November 30, 2018.

This is the Mega Hit that never was. As I understand it Angelina put it up on her site for less than 48 hours a was forever pulled down. It references suicide and therefore she will never sing it again. A fan made video, this one, surfaced sometime later or a piece of musical Mastery would have been lost forever. I heard this for the first time three years ago searching for anything I could of Angelina's. After hearing it, I was stunned mute and motionless for quite some time comprehending what I just experienced. You are so correct, Angelina is very special. The great performances of her childhood is the foundation to the unparalleled music that she's doing now. Her EP OLD ENOUGH is spectacular. It's a must for my health and happiness to hear Angelina singing something everyday, and I have ever since the first time I heard her channeling Billie Holiday singing I'm A Fool To Want You at six years old on Norway's Got Talent. 1. Give her *all* the money.
2. Provide her with whatever other assistance she requests.
3. Otherwise, leave her the eff alone.
4. Take whatever she produces.
5. Market the ess out of it.
6. Distribute it to the world.
7. And everyone's happy.

Angelina has been quoted as adamantly stating she will never sing it again. I think there were some serious negative issues generated when that all went down, and I don’t think it had anything to do with the unfounded rumors about her mother not liking the lyrics.
Which is too bad. It’s one of her best songs from that period.

@@MrTombre Yeah I know. It’s speculated that two of the producers she worked with here and went on to work with on shield were the ones who “leaked” it a year or more after it was recorded. I think they’re principles in Stargate. That’s who helped her with shield and who still produce some of her stuff to this day. Including material on her EP.
I think the whole thing just turned into a shit show at the time and AJ and her family didn’t want any part of it. Didn’t need it. That’s just my opinion.

When she released her EP that was the official launch of her professional career. Her once-in-a-millennia brilliance is going to hit the global music industry like a Super Nova. She already attained legendary status. She’s is absolutely destined to achieve her dream of super stardom. Her unique multi-generational legion of fans are ready to help lift her into the stratosphere.
The trouble with the song is her mothers mistaken impression that the term Holding Down for you was referring to suicide when in reality it was just about keeping her life together in a tough situation. So her mother put the Ki Bosh on its release. Thankfully someone in the studio involved in the recording leaked it or we'd not have had it. I think it is one of her most commanding pieces. Demonstrating how rich, broad, and dynamic she can be. And it is an incredible recording.

The history of this 'demo' is very curious. I guess Baby Fuzz sent the song to several singers, Angie's team made this recording, and then they mysteriously put it in a drawer, why? I have my own theory, but it's just that, a theory, let's say that if AJ released this song when she was 20 years old, it would be a hit, that's for sure. And now comes the curious thing, two years later Baby Fuzz decided to record it himself, the result: a shameless copy of Angie's version. AJ's team found out, and someone 'posted' this 'demo' on UA-cam shortly before the official release of Baby Fuzz, which in my opinion shows that there is a backstory that we don't know about.
If you ask me, she is a true empath when she sings. Even at age 6 there was a cover, don't remember the song, but she put more emotion in it than people who were in their forties and had lived some of what rhe song was about, but no way could AJ have lived through the emotions she was belting out and the way she was putting the emotion into the song, I was tearing up. Wish I could remember the name of the song, I have seen the you tube video three or four times, and I get emtional every time I see it.

The thing that gets me the most about this one is not simply the fact that it was a demo, since that doesn't _automatically_ mean it wasn't worked on as carefully as any other studio track, but the _implication_ of that fact, that she almost certainly sang this with the full expectation that no one in the "general public" would ever hear it. She merely had to "demonstrate" how the song could be sung. And she did *that* . OMG…

Many feel this is the most impressive song she has ever recorded. She
brings so much of the emotion she learned from Billie Holiday, allowing
her to sound like a fully adult woman who actually lived through what she
is singing about. She was only 10 when she made the demo, and for reasons
no one is sure about, her mom didn't allow it to go forward to production and
release to the public. There is a mention of a drowning/suicide in the lyrics,
and knowing how strict Sara is with regard to the words Angelina sings, perhaps
that was the reason. Also, the fact that she was 10 and Sara having stated that
she didn't want to have Angelina venture into a career of professional singing
until she was through with school is another possibility for the project to end
before it really got going.

I have read that it was leaked much earlier & was taken down by Angelina's team, but not before the current holder of the video had made a copy. He later released this version with photos of Angelina from around 10- 12. This demo was was recorded 1 week before her 11th Birthday.

For your own sake, it's worth going to have a listen to Baby Fuzz's version. Thanks Baby Fuzz for writing the song, but OH GOLLY does Angelina's version completely decimate his own. Also, Brandon (baby fuzz) said he hadn't even heard Angelina's version prior to recording his. (Angelina sang ir before him). Though it seems odd to me, he would have someone do a Demo and not even hear it before deciding to self release the song. Anywhoo, it's an incredible performance by Angelina.
I don't have any reason to doubt what Baby FuzZ said. Songs are shopped around usually by the composers, writers, agents, and other people associated with the music business. Many demos are recorded. Only artists who are really intending to release a song, usually proceed to arrive at an agreement with the Composer/writer. Baby FuzZ didn't approach Angelina to record this song. His co-writers did and helped Angelina produce the demo. For whatever reason this project was never pursued, thus it was not presented to Baby FuzZ.
Music is an art and we all have our preferences. I prefer Angelina's version but let us give credit to Baby FuzZ for co-writing this song. He showed a lot of class to not block Angelina's leaked demo. To say that Angelina decimated his version is in my opinion disrespectful and uncalled for.

Angelina and her family did not want this song released as it ends in suicide by drowning. Angelina lost her popular entertainment friend known as Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, who died by his own hand from suicide at age 28. His death, according to his father, was aided by the pressures of his contractual responsibilities to his recording company. Angelina's family took immediate note and could see the future of Angelina's career headed in the same direction. This is one of the reasons she has been allowed to mature without the pressures of the modern music business. They asked that this song be kept out of the media, not wanting any influence on young minds. It was leaked because of the true unbelievable talent Angelina showed in this demo. Baby Fuzz insisted that Angelina sing this because he knew just how good it would be. The family has relaxed it's stance on this song now, 9 years later. Just some background. I think many listen to this but miss what is happening here.

Yeah, there are a lot of different stories about this song, how Angelina got a hold of it, who put out their version first, and why this was never officially released by Angelina. I have this article about Baby Fuzz talking about this song and why he decided to do it himself after sending out demos of this song to other artists.....
In an online article from the website Consequence Sound, Baby Fuzz describes how he wrote the song. In the article, "Baby FuzZ details the Origins of new song I m Still Holding Out for You : and how he found his creative spark in Oslo and in the music of Alabama Shakes.
The most interesting information in the article is as follows: "...this song had been completed in 2016 and the idea was to try to give it to a big artist. I had sent it to a myriad of people over the last few years, with no luck. I think it was the music industry s way of telling me I need to start putting out my own songs. Finally, early in 2018, I kind of came to the realization that the demo was pretty strong with my vocal. At the point, I went back in on the production and kind of took it over the finish line. Now I m super happy nobody else took it, because it feels 100% honest to what I was feeling at that time."
From this, we can probably safely say that Angelina was one of those artists he sent this to. UA-cam users Gustavo Eleazar De Yermo y Parres Paredes posted the "LEAKED" video on November 11, 2018. Baby Fuzz released his official music video on December 19, 2018. Currently, Baby Fuzz's video has over 33 thousand views, Angelina has over 385 thousand views....

The first officially released version is the original and that is Baby FuzZ version. As an Angelina dedicated fan it is important to recognize that even though I very much prefer Angelina's version.

Everything on Angelina’s demo except her vocals were copied from Baby FuzZ demo that was shopped around. He had the right to block Angelina’s demo but chose not to do that since he is a huge supporter of young artists and was very impressed by Angelina’s demo. His officially released version was arranged differently than his demo.

Yup, she’s too special. Mmmh, maybe the luckiest and happiest girl we have seen and follow. Apart of course of being multi talented, she’s made of that thing legends are made of, but, they are usually much older right? As you say, she’s too special, whatever that means.
The family felt that the last verse was too close to supporting suicide and at 10 felt that Angelina was too young to be associated with that. All the pics were taken when she was 12-13 maybe a couple when she was younger. Still there is no way that a 10 year old is singing this song. This is why I call her 10-12 her First Golden Era because she just was too good to be doing what she was doing.
From here Angelina really started sampling and experimenting with vocal affects, i.e. vocal fry, and breathy airy style and playing with vowel sounds. She also got into runs and riffs. Then at 16 with her TikTok of Adele's 'Love Is A Game' I heard what I call her adult voice. Not that she abandoned anything she had been experimenting with, but that she had distilled those elements to what, and how, she wanted to sing those affects going forward. These are just my observations as someone who has watched her since 2017. Plus seeing and hearing her from videos they put up of her youngest efforts.
Angelina will continue to grow and expand because her mind never rests and change is a product of time and exposure to newer methods and styles from different sources. One thing she will never get is boring.

Hi Buddy Angelina was sent this demo at age ten to finish it , Baby Fuzz said he sent the demo to five different people and didn't hear back from none of them so he recorded it himself ? I think he felt embarrassed he sent a demo to a ten year old for her input so he told folks he sent it to five people. Angelina's mother wouldn't let Angelina release this cuz the last verse was about suicide . I think Baby fuzz seen angelina's version and coppied her style and released his at the same time her's was released cuz he made a mistake on the computer. People liked Angelina's version better. If she released this it would be a number one hit IMO. Alot of people say this is their favorite Angelina song. For a Ten year old its out of this world !
