Great work Nigel, been busy sorting out paperwork for my wife’s estate, but had your videos playing in the background. Did take the time to watch Sue’s live stream today good fun as always helps keep me grounded. Take care of yourself and woof to Jess.

Hi Nigel, Nice progress on the Apache. I know what you mean about Takom instructions. The last Takom kit I built, the St, Chamond Tank, the pages numbers on the instructions skipped numbers and some of the instructions were not numbered at all. The instructions that were there didn't make sense. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day. Jeff

Seems like takom rushed the CAD design of this kit so it can be released before the Meng kit... Most of the mistakes in this kit seem to be related to the QC before the files go to the machining company for the moulds

Round twelve, fifteen years past, I had bought a Kangnam (South Korea) 1:35th-scale kit of the preceding variant, the Hughes AH-64D Apache Longbow US Army Helicopter Gunship. I also found Eduard's photo-etched detail set. From what I saw in the photographs in AH-64 Apache Walkaround, the monograph from Squadron Books (Carrollton, Texas USA), however, it is incomplete: much of the front position's instruments panel details also applies to that of the back seat's panel. Before I could continue building it, however, I had to wait till I could find a second PE set (the dénouement to all this unfortunately is a lo-o-o-ong story!🙁).

Definitely the curse of knowledge when the instructions were done. They knew what they were doing and assumed that we would all know as well!

Also order yourself some hasagawa polarised/holographic film... You will use it on almost all modern vehicles and aircraft

Takom seem to have cut so many corners on this kit. Was it financial constraints or a rush to get it to market. Either way not good for their brand reputation.

This is not surprising. We all should be used to crappy instructions and parts that dont fit. This has always been the nature of Chinese kits. I do appreciate your suggestions to make it work. We all definitely know about quantity over quality. As you probably already know Takom has no intention of changing the kit specifications and parts fit.

Overall Michael, the fit of the parts is pretty good. I find the biggest issue is the instructions, both build sequence and drawings. the other issue is sprue connectors on the front face of parts and mold seams. It really is building into a beautiful model.. just takes a little extra work.

@Nigel’s Modeling Bench I agree 100%. I have tge D version. And im not expecting anything less from Takom. No doubt I will have the same issues. Im enjoying your build. And I will be following your instruction to the letter. I have the brass antennas etc. comming. I hate the plastic parts that are with the kit.

I really dont see the point of them even trying to make the gun moveable. If it was a toy, yeah, but once you've built it youre not going to play with it.
Same with moveable control surfaces and landing gear, make them positionable by all means but who's going to want to move them?
