- 1948 Chevrolet 3/4 ton pickup with no cab, front clip or bed. Mounts were made for the radiator, steering column, seat, throttle, and tail light. Everything else is factory mount. No seat belts, no headlights, no windshield, no wipers, no speedometer, no gauges except an oil pressure gauge.
It has been to a car show in Jennings, OK (First Place "Work in Progress") and several times to the National Two Cylinder Show in Fairview, Oklahoma.
It is great for checking the pastures as there is better visibility than a four wheeler or side by side.
"Somebody stole my truck and just left the guts"
Hi Andy, Good to see a post here from you. I remember my first trip on the show truck a couple of years back fondly!!
Hi Craig! You really rode on that thing? Honestly I thought you had more class...
Wish I could have done that, very cool. Had a 1938 Ford V8 project as a teenager in the mid-80s, the body had been roughly cut down to a 2-door pickup config. during WWII from a long hearse.... It was really rusty, with just archeological remains of the wooden bed (just some carriage bolts sticking up). Had to abandon the project because of a lack of money while still at school. Sold it to a neighbor who had just found a 1939 V8 delivery van in a barn, he wanted to make a street rod out of it and liked the engine in mine, which was a 100HP with original aluminum heads. He put new oil, gas, and a battery in it, fired it up and drove around the n.hood for weeks with just a stump of exhaust pipe hanging down from the manifold. The brake pedal didn´t do anything, brake pads were just about good enough that he could slow the car to a standstill with a combination of gearing down, then pulling the handbrake as hard as he could. He wasn´t a nice man, but an excellent welder/panel beater, oxy/acetylene, long before TIG became common here. This video brought back many memories, thank you very much.
Glad you enjoyed the video and that it brought you some good memories. Young and no money is tough. I'm blessed to have enough money and tools to do what I want.
Looks like a blast!
Boy you get around Jason. It really is a blast. And educational:
"that, my boy is the clutch pedal."
What does that do Daddy?
"I don't exactly know..."
Have not heard anything from you in a long time. Looks like fun. Are you going to do any more metal casting?
It's been over a year. My laptop died and I was trying to figure out Windows 10 when my wife died. Not unexpected but nonetheless a big setback for me.
I've been doing casting but until I could handle Windows 10 video editor I was down. I was taking a friend for a ride and he shot most of the video. I thought it would be a good way to get my feet wet.
I've learned a few more casting things I could share. I'll try to find the time.
Thank you so much for commenting!
@@andrewmartin4258 Sorry to hear about your wife. losing a life partner is rough. Hope you can lift your spirits and get back into a fun hobby. Many of your videos were unique on UA-cam.
For me 8 more months to retirement then hope to join you in your hobby.
Best wishes.
@@andrewmartin4258 Sorry to hear that Andy. I lost my mom this year.🥺 If windows 10 is a pain, you might try shotcut. It's an easy editor to use and youtube is littered with tutorials how to use it.
@@acrussell1959 I appreciate your kind words. I'm doing well, and you will enjoy casting, I'll wager.
@@jagboy69 Thank you. I think I'm doing ok on the editor now. I'm not into flashy stuff and enjoy plain black and white. I've got the urge to do a follow board video.
