This is an absolutely fantastic job you all have done with the restoration of this abandoned mine. The effort, dedication, and craftsmanship displayed in each stage of the process are truly remarkable. From the safety improvements to preserving the historical integrity of the site, every detail has been meticulously considered and executed. This is more than just a restoration, it's a celebration of the mining heritage and a testament to the hard work of miners past and present. Kudos to the entire team for this extraordinary accomplishment. Keep up the excellent work! Can't wait to be on the first available tour!
As I've mentioned in the past I live vicariously through your various videos but this one is really a doozy. Having spent 26 years in the coal industry this one really takes me back. It was great!
I worked in a underground limestone mine for 10 years. I've always wanted to see a coal mine. All the old underground coal mines in my area have been stripped. Now I can take my son and go see one. Thank you very much. I never would have found out about this if it wasn't for your channel.
I went back & watched Part 1 for context, and Wow! Impressive progress! It really is amazing to see the amount of work that goes into excavating a mine such as this. You did a fantastic job of documenting & filming the process, inside & out. Great work! Excellent tour guide, too! Really great of Chris & the crew to welcome you into this very special project. Loved seeing the light finally break through at the second opening! Would love to see a final tour, once completed. Thanks for bringing us along!❤
Awesome work on the part of both the UGM’s and Jay for this video. The passion for the history of the Anthracite Coal industry and sharing it with the public is as strong or stronger with Chris & the UGM’s today as when I shared some adventures with them over 20 years ago. Jay your talent and equipment really brings out the feeling of being and working in a dark, wet environment lit by the headlamps of the miners. The detail in the rock, coal, wood was fantastic in a trying environment. The HDR of a white mouse 🐁 in a black coal mine, even when the backhoe punched thru and let in all that light was amazing. I look forward to touring this and the Lackawanna mine with my Grandson this year. Congratulations UGM’s for making your dream come true. Thanks Jay for another great insight to the history that surrounds us. You’re the best.
Can't even imagine working in the escape way ....a real back breaker .I hope the public appreciates the amount of work that has gone into the renovation of the old mine and their fund raiser is a big success.....The little mouse was so cute .Beautiful photo montage , Jay .🙂💙👍
Takes men of strong mental and physical abilities to work in those conditions. Not much longer until the public and myself gets to enjoy this long forgotten mine tour.
This is so exciting! I think it's so important for the younger generation to experience this. See you are VIP JP 😉. I know you are excited because it's right where you live....so cool! Fabulous pictures ✌
Amazing. Thanks so much to these guys for working so hard to keep local history alive! My grandfather was a breaker boy and then served during WW2. He had black lung too, but lived a long life. Mining is a big, important part of our history. The only thing that worries me is that this is in Scranton, and the city govt can screw up anything. Hope they leave the mine exhibit alone.
Amazing, both my parents and grandparents are from Summit Hill. The fact that the rails being installed in the Brooks mine are from Summit Hill's old "Switchback" railroad to Mauch Chunk (Jim Thorpe,) is amazing. Thanks for the tour, awesome!
Wow, what an awesome piece of history, the restoration is fantastic! You can just see how dedicated they all are in completing the reconstruction. The planning that went into this is incredible! Looking forward to seeing it finished! Not only will this be a fun experience, but it will also be such a wonderful learning experience. Glad the little mouse made it out ok.🐭lol Your video is amazing JP! Thank you!
This is very educational. I appreciate your work on this. My husband was a deep miner in Kentucky decades ago and this brings back welcome memories. Sadly he has Alzheimer’s Disease. In his mind he is still mining.
Pictures are so beautiful. I hope everybody will love your project and the history of coal mining what they had to do to survive long time ago Pennsylvani, Kentucky.
I love that the rails used are from the Switchback Gravity Railroad. That's just awesome to me as a huge fan of the Switchback and Anthracite mining in PV
this was so cool . its so nice you have a good rapport with this mine so we can see the progress . when i started this video i thought i missed part one , but i did see that video . i hope when it opens i can drive to pa for a visit .
Such awesome work in a short length of time. Really interesting watching how it was done and what to expect in the near future. The mousey wasn't expecting to be videoed so he was trying to escape.....camera-shy, I guess. :)
👍👍👍👍👍👍 don't stop your exploring videos with your ebikes. We love them but this is pretty cool! Is this in Pennsylvania? I'm definitely going to come visit it.
You are very lucky that the Coal is not very deep. I know what are you trying to do have a good Tourist attraction. That’s good in Kentucky they would already strip it a lot quicker lot easier and more money in their pocket. A big in loader like to do here in Kentucky around the mountain side. Thank I have 300 acres that they did this thank you you for the video. It’s beautiful KY.
Great vid love the pics at the end. Looks like it was a tough life back in the mines Bald to see it will open to show what you had to do to earn a dollar.
JP, i know this is a little off subject but I’m hoping you reply to me. We are wanting to come to PA from MI this summer and I’d love to ride a train. But I only want to ride with a steam engine. Would that be Strasburg or is there anything else?
18:57 There's like a little rodent or animal running away from the hole on the left side. Also very awesome tour. Edit: And the little mouse was cute 😅
That Tiny tunnel is the way out if something happens? WTH. Guess those with heart, knee, hip, back issues, and those that are old/disabled that come to see, will just be stuck and die if something go sideways. Law should be it big enough to walk through. looks like they could care less. Lol.
The mine is so safe that the chances of ever needing it are so slim its almost zero. It is mainly for ventilation. If someone with the conditions you listed needed to be removed through the second opening, they can be put on a back board and slid out.
@@cessna54tango Real mines are mined lol If it’s just a hole in the ground for tours then it’s never been mined and I wouldn’t call it a mine. It’s an exhibit then.
I'm glad the mascot safely escaped!
Who else is excited to visit and tour this mine once it's open?
We did the tour, awesome
Thanx for doing what you do. Peace and Love thru Christ

Sounds like an interesting tour 🤔
They’ve done quite a bit in 10 months. I like that they have track laid down. It looks neat! It always warms my heart seeing history preserved.
As I've mentioned in the past I live vicariously through your various videos but this one is really a doozy. Having spent 26 years in the coal industry this one really takes me back. It was great!
So excited to finally be able to go back in the mine. Lots of great memories.
Fantastic video Jay! Thank you for all you do helping us to promote and accomplish this project! I can't wait for the Grand Opening of this mine!
Nice job on those spikes!

I appreciate that. Thanks for taking the time to watch.
Hi Dave! You’ll need to swing up some time for the dime tour! Would be great to catch up! Thanks for the kind words!!!
Can't wait to be able to see this in person when it's opens to the public.

Amazing to see the progress.
It's impressive what they've accomplished
Great video JP! How exciting! Thank you for sharing this. Can’t wait to see the finished project! 👍🥰
That’s so cool see history of the coal mines coming back to life in way opening back for people see when on in the pass over top video thanks JP
How cool. 😊
Lots of hard work. This is such a great video. Hopefully you can go back when the mine is complete.
Pictures are so beautiful. I hope everybody will love your project and the history of coal mining what they had to do to survive long time ago Pennsylvani, Kentucky.
Nice!!
Awesome mine JP! I would love to tour it when it's finished! They have done a awesome job so far! Thanks for bringing us along!

OMG, JP please be careful in these places. They always scare me. Love the video as always. ❤ Stay safe
This is a very safe location
I definitely want to. Used to go years ago when I lived down the hill from there!
You have such great videos.. love your channel!
Great job with the restoration. Thanks for showing us. Have a great weekend 🤗
Hope you guys can check it out once it's completed.
Wow...that looks phenomenal! They are doing it right!!! Thanks for the update...I can not wait either!

If I have a truck I'd be able to do it.😊
Anyway of being able to buy some bags of Anthracite from the mine? Doesn't need to be graded......
There is still a lot of coal in there. It would seem they would excavte it out.
18:57 There's like a little rodent or animal running away from the hole on the left side. Also very awesome tour.
Edit: And the little mouse was cute 😅
Haha
#replaycrew
Very cool video! 👍
Thank you JPVIDEOS
Is that pretty unusual Coal is right almost at the top the ground from Kentucky hi Seems of coal
Its on the bottom too. there are two veins there. the bottom vein is about 20-24" and the top is 30-36" with a 3-4 foot rock divider between them.
Better get that place rock dusted! Or I'll have to red tag that site!!😅
No rock dust in the Anthracite!
I’m just joking, but I think y’all are out of shape. Get somebody that’s been in the coal mine there for 40 years. Thank you for the video.
That Tiny tunnel is the way out if something happens? WTH. Guess those with heart, knee, hip, back issues, and those that are old/disabled that come to see, will just be stuck and die if something go sideways. Law should be it big enough to walk through. looks like they could care less. Lol.

That was never a real mine tho right?
Never a commercial mine
Its always been a "real" mine, it was just never a coal producing mine.
@@cessna54tango Real mines are mined lol If it’s just a hole in the ground for tours then it’s never been mined and I wouldn’t call it a mine. It’s an exhibit then.
