I live about 45 miles North West of Nashville, Tn. . I am proud of my Appalachian Heritage. My Grandmother on my Dad,s had Her own Appalachian language. I loved the way She talked. Some of it rubbed off on me.

“Lord Have Mercy”! I reckon i about as southern as they come because I use all these sayings and many more. Ya’ll have a blessed day. New sub here! Greetings from good ol GA. ❤❤
Loved the show tonight! I would like to share some info with you- 24 counties in Mississippi are also part of the Appalachian chain. They are- Alcorn, Benton, Calhoun, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Clay, Itawamba, Kemper, Lee, Lowndes, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Noxubee, Oktibbeha, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo, Union, Webster, Winston, and Yalobusha. I was raised in Tennessee and Mississippi.
Great Appalachian lesson. Congratulations Ladies being on the State Conference. Some Appalachian phrases I have heard. Bright Eyed Bushy Tail; You, Yellow belly Sapp sucker; Youuns ant got no sense; Youngsans get up chere. From CHEROKEE, NC!!!! Great video.
I’m from The Black Belt in central Alabama, and we say all of those sayings. We are called The Black Belt because our dirt is black and it shifts and moves. It stretches almost from Mississippi to Georgia. It sticks to your shoes/boots until you can barely lift them. Good luck driving on the county roads…that dirt will move and take the pavement with it. It sticks to your livestock, and drys into chunks as hard as concrete.
Was in the Soviet Union City of Leningrad while Russia was Communist. I was in the military and 21 of age. I was gloating that I was the only American in Russia, but then I overheard someone talking to his friends in the Waldorf-Astoria lobby. Found that he was a banker from the mountains that spends vacations in Russia. :.
