Sounds just like my grandma and great grandmas in south GA. I miss hearing them, even if it was subtle complaints like no one coming to help with harvesting. If we had to go through what they went through we would be on our hands and knees picking and thanking them for planting extra. I always thank my inlaws for letting me come pick their extras when they plant.
Ladies, I’ve never canned any greens. I found yall on a UA-cam search because I want to try and put some up. Helene has taught me that having freezers are a pain in the butt but having jars of food is easy living during potential hard times. My husband always grows the prettiest turnip and mustard. I’m gonna try y’all’s way!
Granny reminds me of my precious Granny Coffey. You all have a priceless jewel ❤ What a treasure! You ladies remind me of the ladies in my family. Strong! Doing whatever needs to be done. Do you have a cookbook? If not, would you consider making one? I would definitely buy one.
@@amybrady8035 ❤️❤️ We’ve tried a few times, but we realize that we never actually follow the recipes. A lot of it just depends on how much we have to can or cook…a lot by taste. Thanks so much for watching and joining the family.❤️
I'm 60 years old and 1 of 7 children. We were in the garden from spring time till fall, our garden was our main food source. Love me some turnip greens with a splash of vinegar, onion and hot cornbread.
I think I’m gonna be a granny woman too. I think it’s a hereditary thing. I think I caught the granny bug. I’ve canned all summer while taking care of Mom. You all have a marvelous bed of greens. I gotta work on mine and figure out a way to keep the deer and goats out of them. Well we did replace the fence but the deer still jump over and help themselves. Ladies I love hearing you talk. I’m on the other side of the mountain in WNC. We sound a lot alike. Take care and we will see you again soon. 😊
Can't wait till our greens are ready to pick. Nothing better than greens and cornbread. We planted mustard, turnip and kale mixed, 2 huge patches. Love watching grannys. I'm 59 y/o and miss my parents and grandparents so much.
Oh my goodness how i'd love to be in that turnip green patch picking with y'all... Nothing better than some good greens, fried fatback, cornbread and pintos. We've always froze our greens but I'm going to be canning me some in the next few weeks thanks to y'all's video.
YUM!! I love fresh from the garden turnip greens. When my parents were still alive, my dad used to plant a BIG garden every year. My mom would can a lot of stuff from the garden. Then I started planting a garden and did the same thing. On a cold winter day, fresh veggies from the garden hits the spot. YUM YUM!!!! I enjoyed watching the video, it brought back a lot of memories. Hope all is well with y'all.
I can eat me some greens. I don't even mind the picking. If I lived close enough I would be in the middle of that beautiful green field. I have a small patch but no where near as pretty as ya'lls.
