  • Korner, vocal and guitar; with Danny Thompson, bass, and Terry Cox, drums.
Played live on UK children's TV programme Five O'Clock Club (ITV). Exact date unknown, probably early in 1966.
The page from the TV guide mentions a sextet, but this is just the trio. Thompson is quoted in Harry Shapiro's biography of Korner:
"He didn't know a crotchet from a hatchet, and his bungling through Five O'Clock Club was sheer perfection. He played the blues. End of story. "Tea for Two", "Autumn in New York", forget it. Fine if it was a bluesy thing, but if you had a guest, say Cleo Laine, you had a problem. John Dankworth would come up and introduce himself, say hello and then "Right, here are the charts." So Alexis, instead of saying "I don't read music", he just bluffed away and got completely caught out. He'd put his whole hand over the frets and bang away. I don't know how he had the neck to do it. But he held down the job and I was getting £50 a show with a repeat. That was the first real money job you could say, "Hang on I can make a living playing music." Fantastic. Five O'Clock Club paid for my house in Wimbledon and Terry Cox's house in Hampstead. And later I sold that house to buy my manor house in Suffolk, which everybody assumed came from Pentangle. It all emanated from that work with Alexis, for which I will be eternally grateful. Terry Cox should go down on his knees as well." (Alexis Korner, Harry Shapiro, Bloomsbury 1996, p.140.)
The trio made an album "I Wonder Who", which can be heard here: • ALEXIS KORNER - I Wond... (doesn't include this track).
