I have an Alaska quarter with no designer initials . my local coin guy does not think it has been tampered with but as far as value he says its worth whatever you can get someone to give you for it.
As a coin roll hunter, I did know about the extra claw but have not seen an example of one so that I will know what to look for! I will have to do some digging around the web and find it! Thanks J&B! 👍
I ran my 2008 Alaska quarter by a bunch of coin groups and someone must have worked at the mint because they knew the type of error and said it was the most beautiful example they had ever seen. Coin roll hunters on Facebook was a major help. Also with a 1997 quarter. Neither is in the records and I have a fan club now, waiting for grading results on both. Thanks for your communication on the matter, it helped me seek various opinions
I have one of the error coins for alaska... I look at all my change and have found many errors and am saving them but don't know the best way to sell them...I'm still learning have only been collecting for a little over a year but have been learning so much from the great videos collectors like u and others post on youtube...ty for your great videos that help newbies like me learn
I see many of the 2008 Alaska quarters but I had no idea of the error of an extra claw. Most of the quarters are not in great condition however, I will pay more attention. Thank you for great info as always.

I so appreciate your research J, but just as soon as I concentrate on ( let's say a certain penny from watching one of your videos), you blow my mind on another video and denomination that totally blows my mind. And thank you really. Alaska here I come lol. 😁 Never had a clue.
Very interesting. I didn't know about the extra claw error. I think I will keep an eye oen for any 2008 P Alaska quarters. Thanks, and I hope to see you tonight. 😀
No I did not know about the extra best claw, however I do have one of those coins that has multiple errors, all over the coin die, doubling letters and die chips alone with more errors. Thanks for the information and for sharing your coin knowledge. Muttzy Muttz

Thank you for bringing to light things to look for! I keep going to places getting coin rolls my husband is commenting nicely how I don't get rid of the coins. But like today you keep showing me to hang on to all of them. Lol ;) Carol Stewart
There is also a glob of metal in the second 0 in 2008. There is also a line of stars, about 12 stamped from the star after Alaska in a semi circle or arc to the bottom of the coin thru the bear. I have one and it was not altered after minting, this unusual error did happen at the mint.
Hi guys, yes I was aware of the claw error but, I was not aware that the regular strike with no errors were that valuable! I have a UNC 08 roll, (not sure if it is P or D) and now I reckon I should open them up, and check the grades and also check the claws too! As always....thanks for the great info!
I have a 2008 P Alaska quarter in great shape.i have kept it wrapped because it seems the A and the N are joined in the word LAND.I did not know about a claw error.

This is by far my best find. I have silver nickles, steel pennies hundreds of wheat pennies but this here I'm more excited about then any of them lol. I have the Alaska 2008 P 🤨 but hey can't be disappointed it's in great shape found it in a roll from the bank. I checked the quarter and no I did not know about the extra claw that is awesome! Honestly my first good find. I'm still new to the coin collecting my Grandfather left me with a bunch of old currency about 6 months ago and I've been checking nonstop since. Thank you for ur knowledge I didn't know this coin had value.
I have 5 or 6 of the extra claw Quarters. Some have 1 extra claw and some have multiple extra claws. It is the first thing I look for when I get one in change or roll hunting.
@Mrs S If you send them off to PGCS, a grading company, that will give you your rating on the coin, or you can look them up on the net An try an sell them locally to a coin dealer, but beware you will not garner a "INTERNET" sale price, it has to be graded by a certified grading company to even think about getting those prices, an then you have to list it on E-bay, or coin collector sites an find a buyer, but there are collectors out there. But if you can sell it upgraded, a fair value would be 80% of value at the highest, you always have to leave room for the other guy( BUYER) to make a nickel at it to, if I'm wrong , I'm wrong on this, but this is how I do buisness, look on the net for values, hope this helps.
I love the state quarters and really love when I find one that I don’t have. I recently found a beautiful Hawaii in circulation. I also found my first New Mexico in great shape.
